@Wizzard Is it possible to include the game title in the "Relative GPU performance vs TPU 25-Game Average" graph?
Updated, will include it like that going forward

Pretty looking game, looks like a lot of fun.

The PSN requirement ruins it. Any game with always online check in BS like that is a $5 game, $10 tops. I'll either wait until it's on gog or sail the high seas. Especially for a single player game, a PlayStation account is total BS.
Not sure if it really is that big a deal these days? Yes, I remember playing games that ran on a single floppy .. which is now the size of a single texture on a single object
Yes it is. Even with gig internet, a 175 gb download for a single game takes awhile, and most don't have that kind of speed. Storage hasn't gotten cheaper for awhile either, and capacities have stalled.

Speaking of "Sony Spyware" @W1zzard ,If you try to remove the PS PC SDK Overlay stuff in %programdata% and try to launch Ghost of Tsushima you'll have a warning that the PS App isn't running, however the game will start unlike Ragnarok (Which is funny because Tshusima has MP).
This app was (or still is), ruining the game performance, since dayone i deleted this crappy app and went from 70 FPS to 120 FPS locked at native 4k on the 7900XTX.
So my question is, is the Sony Spyware less version of Ragnarok running better than the retail one?

Another game that looks great and doesn't need a 4080 Super with DLSS enabled to run well? The blasphemy!

Hack and slash non-sense.
I don't know about Ragnarök, but God of War has a pretty good story actually. If you had played it, you'd know.

Agreed and agreed.

I wanted to buy this game, as I love God of War, but with the PSN requirement, no chance. I'll just wait until there's enough backlash for Sony to remove the requirement, or until it goes on a discount. I'm not paying 50 quid for having to register for a service that I'll never use otherwise.

As for the internet thing, 175 GB would take me 11.5 hours to download on my crappy English Midlands DSL connection at its top rated speed.

I (x) doubt any enthusiast here would like psn sdk running in his pc (attached pic)
even you have 2.5 gb isp subscription which is actually 2.2 gb/s real speed subcription my case, real steam download go 1.4 -average maby
after this add re-check files which is a must so eta at least 1h on top speed average isp subscription + pci 4.0 nvme + 8cores cpu
good part is gog.com learned from mistakes and don't sell again drm games like horizon zero dawn from sony. at this state of requirements from Sony, it's place is on Steam.

There is already a mod out that removes the PSN account requirement.

FF XVI is not doing well on Steam either, PC gamers have a lot of games to choose from, so they don't need scraps from Sony :D

Yeah. It's on Nexus.

I don't have a Nexus account to download the file, but I'd rather create one there than on PSN. Thanks! :)

Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
Maybe it's nostalgia for the original God of War, but I feel like this port looks no better than the original despite running like absolute ass.

God of War ran fantastically on a laptop with a 6700S in it (somewhere equivalent to an RX 6600 desktop GPU) at 1080p60 with mostly high detail settings and didn't require FSR or upscaling to maintain a >60fps experience. I believe I had a 3060 12G on the media PC at the time which was managing 4K60 just fine using DLSS balanced, I think. Edit - nope, would have been DLSS performance to get a native 1080p render up to 4K at >60fps.

This is still a PS4 game, so why is the same hardware suddenly languishing in the 40-45fps range? The 6600 is way below 60fps and the 3060 can't even hit 60fps native 1080p! I guess the unknown for me is whether Ragnorok runs much worse than the original on a PS4...

The only answer for why AMD is not performing well is because they have yet to release a driver that optimizes for this game, whereas Nvidia released their drive on September 11th that optimizes for this game.

You know I loved God of War 2018 but this one I only liked. Maybe I am crazy but it felt like there was so much more story to tell and they just kind of rushed us to the end of the Norse Mythology. There were a few things I wish they had done differently, but I will say I loved this rendition of Thor and Heimdal.

Performance looks decent enough across the board, however its definitely noticeable how much different alot of the AMD counterparts do. Probably going to need some optimization to fix a bit of it. Though I may need to see the graphics myself on this one to judge because this really was a PS4 game so I wonder if it really looks that much better to warrant this performance.

Maybe AMD cards underperforming because of a tessellation bug in the area tested ?

Always baffles me how often Nvidia comes out on top for titles that were developed and designed specifically for AMD-based solutions.
I notice the argument less and less these days that Consoles use AMD so AMD cards will perform better on console ports, it's just become increasingly obvious that those things don't correlate as some people assumed or even wished they would.

Looking forward to playing this when I get back from holiday, really enjoyed the first on PC so this should be a hoot.

I'll try these, currently on 24.7.1 after rolling back from 24.8.1 and having the issue of the AMD software control panel randomly opening when the computer wakes from sleep, in my case I don't even have mine set to sleep, would happen when the monitor turned off after 15mins and come back on again,
Always baffles me how often Nvidia comes out on top for titles that were developed and designed specifically for AMD-based solutions. This happened with Rift Apart, too.

Is it because the dev workstations were GeForce/Quadro and the performance optimizations done there don't translate all that well to Radeon? Is it an issue with how the games are ported to PC? Is it some random idiosyncratic thing that no one has bothered to sniff out and deal with?
Designed spefically for AMD where is the proof behind that? you have one of the dev workstations or more made up stuff?

The part where God of War: Ragnarok was developed by Santa Monica Studio, a subsidiary of Playstation, exclusively for the PlayStation 4 and 5 systems, which are based on AMD CPUs and Radeon GPUs. The PC port was handled by a contractor by the name of Jetpack Interactive. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is a similar situation, with Insomniac developing for the PlayStation 5 and the PC port being handled by someone else, Nixxes in that instance.

For the port process over at Jetpack/Nixxes, desktop workstations were used, workstations which more likely than not had Nvidia graphics solutions in them, based off market share. Hell, even Santa Monica could have been testing GoW on workstations with Nvidia cards, since it would be a tall order to have enough PS test platforms on deck and ready to roll to supply absolutely everyone on the dev/QA team, not to mention all the time spent compiling.

Try the new beta driver, 24.20.something, it fixes the issue, and also has optimisations for GoW: Ragnarök.

I saw people on nvidia cards are still facing memory lake and crashing though perf is higher than AMD parts. It seems AMD users get their cards stable in this game.

OP i tested my RX 6700 XT in the same area as as youtuber called zWORMz gaming ( first stop in the darwven city) he was using a 4060 with same settings (1080 Ultra native) only difference is the AA method (DLAA vs FSR3 Native AA) which i believe have a similar performance impact around few fps more expensive than TAA and i am getting significantly higher FPS (15-20) than his 4060 maybe there is a bug in the area you tested with radeon gpus ?
