Once more, thank you for all your replies AND knowledge!
I'm buying from France and have found the following for 25€ : (see link)

I am using the integrated graphics at the moment and that works ok, am just a little worried about "cleaning" the Sapphire drivers properly...

Well.. not really an upgrade honestly. That's more of a basic 2D display card. While yes it's better than what you had, it's way worse than what could've been for a wee bit more.

Barely 20% faster. 12 years old card based on a 14 year old architecture.

Should have gone for a NVIDIA 1030, 6x faster for ~€40-50 on Ebay.

I'm not even sure the GT 610 will handle YouTube etc.

I don't believe that saving of €20 is really that meaningful to someone who lives in Europe.

Use display driver uninstaller if it's not too late to cancel the order and get a 1030 instead.

That's why several people have told him to get a new PSU as well.
As I gathered, OP doesn't have the budget for a 3050-class GPU and a new, quality PSU as well. That's why most of us are recommending the GT 1030.

As for the RX 6400 (a reply to other posts), I'd stay away from it, considering that OP has an old, PCI-e 3.0 (or even 2.0?) motherboard with no ReBar support.

I think you wasted your money on e-rubbish with no driver support, but I wish you good luck anyway!

As for cleaning drivers, go to the Control Panel, look for Programs and Features, and uninstall everything AMD or ATi related. Then run DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller - you can find it here on TPU in the Downloads section) in Safe Mode, then install the Nvidia driver version 474.44, also found here in the Downloads section.

30 class or not, if he doesn't have the budget for another PSU, the need for that budget will quickly find him.

Took a while to read through things. I trust that thing about as much as my first cheapo "420W" power box that blew up after half a day.

I have torn open a few antiques from ~2008 that are still humming right next to me. Sometimes it's best to just go with your gut.

Thank you for your replies: I can see that you are laughing at my "aged" system!
Other specs are:
Gigabyte GA-H61M-USB3-B3 motherboard
Intel core i7 - 2700 - 3.6 Ghz processor with Kingston memories and Western Digital 1000Go 64Mo SATA II - Caviar Green hard disk;
under Windows 7.
Don't forget: I am in europe!
( there are still second-hand guaranteed replacements available here online)
I hope to run this system a little while longer until I can afford to "start again"
:):)
I wouldn't throw anything more than GTX 1050 here these days.

Is that an H61 board? Isn't that the same era as the 790GX chipset in my AM3 board?

You have integrated graphics options to hold you over until you can make a replacement decision, so that much is good.
If you're restricted to single slot and 75W, GT 1030 is pretty much it, unless you're looking for a compute card like a Tesla.

Either way, that HD5450 is about the same era as my antique HD6570 and the only good thing about it is feature level, which isn't a good thing in this era. It's about as effective as a door stop.

I want to say look for something modern but there's a serious problem finding anything full size or otherwise that only powers on from the PCI-E bus. Good luck with that.
AM3 mobos has had integrated ones. Intel starting from I believe socket 1156 haven't had one. Socket 775 was era of mobo igpu.
