To answer your question, yes. You would have enough time to shut everything down properly before the UPS runs down. (sorry if this was already answered, I didn't read all the way through the thread.)

sounds like asking someone to go pick up the glass hammer, that is between the left handed mug and a bucket of steam. oh and don't forget to grab the board stretcher while you're at it lol
