It's a $45 to $75 difference to get Z690 vs X570 same model line - today, on launch day for the Z690. Yes I've looked.
For that you typically get a board with demonstrably more features and capabilities - PCIe 5.0, more PCIe 4.0 lanes typically for more 4.0/4x m.2, Thunderbolt 4 in many cases.
It is a negative that at this moment there are no mid-range boards for AL, but there will be in a few months.
There are some other consequences, by virtue of only being higher end Z690, there's a very small selection for mATX and ITX. In fact the only mATX I can find in stock is Asus Prime, at $179. The only other mATX I've seen offered at all is $360. ITX is more available it seems but only the higher end models.
So none of this is real surprising on launch day.
