Is the ThermalRight Frozen Prism 360 AIO good?

Not much info on it from reviewers, and I've decided to experiment with a cheap AIO. They're currently under $60, and have better specs than SAMA's cheapest AIO.

I'm looking at the 360mm. I realize that the white one's color and lighting will improve my entire computer's performance by 10^300 power, but maybe I'll get the black one just because. after all, a black hole can suck up light.

I tried the same experiment with mine, I bought it because it was cheap, and said V3 :D

I know they have had their name on AIOs for a few years now, I figured it would be a good time to try.

I have the Aqua Elite on my 2nd PC (5950X) and it is great. It is a 240mm version. I was so impressed I went to buy the 360 version for my 7900X3D but it was sold out. I kept looking and found the Prism. When I looked at the Specs the pump speed is the exact same and the only thing missing was the plastic cable brackets that are on the Elite. I have not installed it yet but it should be just as good. All Thermalright AIOs were available at E-tailers but since we started talking about them on TPU they have since basically sold out. The secret is out. Thermaltake AIOs are like those 1440P QNIX South Korean panels that were like 1/3 the price of a 1440P in the store.

Nothing wrong with that. I am too.
They make good stuff!

I have been beating their drum for almost 10 years now, still not tired of it :)

Very happy to see them finally starting to take off again, they really deserve it :rockout:

I will never say goodbye to my FC140! Unlike you though, I actually like the tops being on covering the heatsink ends. I think it looks nice.

I like everything about my coolers :)

I have not given up, in fact I will be going back to air soon, and save this AIO for a proper case, this Torrent C works, but all of my other components would be warmer than they are now, if I hadn't mounted my T30s in pull to blow across the ramsicles.

It is a louder setup than a high performance air cooled setup with my current configuration :D

I can get within 5c using my PS120SE, or any of my FC140s and be a little quieter

I literally just like to see 5900X do 250+w and barely get over 85c :D

That would be about 90ish with air.

So I decided to compare some TR 360 AIOs. I found five:
  1. Aqua Elite V3 $58.90
  2. Frozen Prism $54.90
  3. Frozen Notte $65.90
  4. Frozen Magic Scenic V2 $68.90
  5. Frozen Edge $72.99
After looking at the specs, not only are the Magic and Notte the best, but they consume less electricity, so although they cost more, operating expenses are lower. They're 5 dBA louder. The Aqua Elite V3 has the weakest fans.

1699618663183.png

I don't understand why they make so MANY different fans, air and water coolers that are virtually identical. Are they hoping collectors are just going to snap up one of each?

Previously, I couldn't find the Endorfy available in the USA, but I guess Endorfy DID read my email all those months ago asking about their AIOs...?

The F240 is selling for $113.25.

The F240 ARGB is selling for $137.97.

The F360 is selling for $146.84.

I'm tempted to say screw it and get the F360 instead of a Thermalright AIO that'd be half that price (or less).

This video has both the F280 and F360, but the F280 isn't available on Amazon or NewEgg. It looks like the Navis performs REALLY well on Intels and older AMDs, but will probably need the offset mounting frame for AMDs with offset chiplets.
Dude talks like Der8auer.

Edited: corrected image to include Notte.

I haven't needed to offset anything ever since I moved to AMD, pretty sweet.

II am transcoding all of the old MXC shows from Spike TV to put on my phone, its ripping through them at 4600-4700MHz and temps have not crossed 70c so its doing alright.

Edit:

Just using Handbrake.. nothing fancy

Across the board their pricing is very hard to argue with, considering the quality you get.

I used to use a Dark Rock Pro 4 but switched over this year to a PA120 for my 5900X. DRP4 front fan had started to go after only 2 years, the frame warped itself out of shape over time making this annoying ticking noise in rotation. And the fan clips are effectively proprietary, the distance is too short for most normal fans. Mounting system was also complete garbage, a loose metal bar with two loose screws (not even spring loaded). Gotta mount with case on its side. $80-$90 new.

Contrast to PA120. Captive spring-loaded screws, fan clips work on any regular fan. Performs the same or marginally better with P12 fans I had. Breeze. $40.

Back on topic... I do not know if Thermalright OEMs their liquid coolers. Still, I would expect them to be of at least average quality, and fantastic value. They at least honor their warranties. Many people use these coolers.

If you buy, let us know how it fares

Definitely. Whether it's TR or the Endorfy Navis, I intend to experiment with rad positioning to settle once and for all the disagreement over top or front mount and tubes up or down.

The one other question I have is what kind of tubing those two companies use, and which is less permeable.

The stiffer teflon-coated tubing usually has least permeation. Marketing may tell you if it has this or not.

Though frankly, any refillable AiO will do fine (LFII comes to mind).

What would last the longest, is a custom loop with hard tubing and a high-quality pump.

As for rad mounting: it boils down to this. Air in pump is always bad. Whatever you do, that keeps air out of the pump, is good. Therefore, top mount rad is probably better than front mount, since the highest point (where air will be) is in the actual radiator. Front mount tubes down is the second best choice.
Just my $0.02

Possibly Dogguan Thermal Energy Technology Company?

Edit:

PA120 is better suited to the smaller 6 and 8 core CPU's imo

Possibly Dogguan Thermal Energy Technology Company?

Edit:

PA120 is better suited to the smaller 6 and 8 core CPU's imo
Agreed...
PA120 I have 4 of them on-hand (don't ask..... lol) so that's why it was used. My FC140 goes to LGA775 benchmarking. Wish they'd bring back the TBK.

Still, cools just fine with folding and gaming
