I use it to update my drivers and for fan profiles, when it works it works. :D
Yes, and when it fucks up it can fuck things up bad. That damn thing caused me to have to reload the UEFI BIOS on my father's Gigabyte motherboard, it somehow corrupted the on-board CPU TPM module causing it to fail to load properly.

Okay. After some digging, found out that the tabs feature is not released yet. It is said to be coming later in October.
If anyone else was wondering why also :p
That's bound to come in a later update, only very recently it was released to the entirety of the Insider dev base.
I'm an Insider on the Beta track, actually haven't had an issue since I've been so.
I've been in Dev permanently since 2015. Longest time I've been without doing a clean install tracks some 3 years, and only because I changed my system from an i3 to the Ryzen I'm using now. Other than that, last time I had to clean install a few months ago because Windows refused to update (which sounds like a blessing for some here)

It's working fine now, the software may be better by now.

With Gigabyte? I'm not so sure. I know damn well that I won't be buying a Gigabyte motherboard again, that's for sure.

I had few GB boards in the past p35, p45, all fine, after that some Asus's and now a high end 8 layer PCB Z690 Aorus Master, I'm pretty satisfied with it. :D

If it weren't for the software, I wouldn't think the way that I do about Gigabyte.

I maintain two systems with Gigabyte boards, one in my system and another in my father's. They're great boards, their software is what's seriously lacking.

Their software very much isn't.
Some people say the same for Asus Suite....

their software is what's seriously lacking.

I agree, the way they "designed" it doesn't score high points, but for me it works what I do with it, so it's fine.

Simple question is it ready yet? Did they save the menu problem not showing everything?

11 gen doesn't have e-cores. But i agree about e-cores being crap we didn't ask for.

nope.
I said that my current laptop has the 12th gen cpu, not 11th. I would rather go back to windows 10 and 11th gen vs my current set up.

But that would mean I would need a few days of down time to get everything set up like I like it.

Its the most stupid feature of win 11.

I agree with you on that one, I also hate a dark theme with bright text, also with websites.
That's fair. Everyone is different though. For example:
DarkScreenTheme.jpg

This is how I roll. What would be nice is if Microsoft would go back to making the colour of each window element of Windows customizable, like it was a long time ago.

I just did to remind myself. It's limited to the same 256x256. If I remember which file manager can do custom thumbnail sizes, I'll chime back in. I know XYplorer does, but it's a paid app. But to be fair it's an excellent and highly configurable/customizable file manager. Let me dig around and I'll see if I can find the one I'm thinking of...

Yep, I've tried XYPlorer and can confirm it works. Directory Opus does not (it's on their list) although to be fair DO has a ton of other features.

XYplorer is worth the money if you want to buy it. It's not my default file manager, but I jump into it whenever I need to do heavy file organization, sorting and whatnot, which I do fairly frequently.

I found some interesting settings in the Windows 11 22h2 filesystem registry. I looked them up on a google search nothing not a single reference.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is this for? It looks like NTFS drive caching related, but that's just a guess.

I play slightly older games in Window mode.
I really like the new window optimization introduced in Windows 11.

The delay has been reduced. We were able to reduce the refresh rate of the display. It is very effective in saving power.

At least some of those entries are probably old, since some are supported through Group Policy as far back as Windows Server 2016 / Windows 10.

As to what they do:
NTFS Default Tier:
For NTFS tiered volumes this controls the tier that new allocations go to by default.

Client systems default to the Performance tier.
Server systems default to the Capacity tier.

I'm guessing it has to do with Storage Spaces. Storage spaces is a way to pool multiple drives together on Windows. If the pool has at least one hard drive and one solid state drive, a drive in such pool can be marked as Performance tier or Capacity tier.

--

NTFS Parallel Flush Threshold:
When flushing modified file data from memory, NTFS chooses to use one or more threads based on how many files are currently open. This setting gives control over the open file threshold used to trigger parallel flush.

NTFS Parallel Flush Worker Threads:
When flushing modified file data from memory, NTFS chooses to use one or more threads based on how many files are currently open. This setting gives control over how many threads will be used.

---

Regarding the NTFS cached runs settings, I'm not sure. However, Windows does use some RAM for driving NTFS, so perhaps there's some filesystem information cached in memory and those settings control what and how.

"ACHSUALLY", the performance is worse than win10. Unless you're using one of those useless alder lake with e-core turds

For the people who did the update, was it nagging you to sign in with/or create a microsoft account, even when you used a local account?
I only have a local account and like to keep it that way.

Local account and kept it with no issue here. I'm on an Enterprise Install though, so YMMV.

On another note, i wouldn't even bother using windows 10 if it wasn't for Crackdown 3 and MS store. Those two are the main reasons why I'm using Windows 10 instead of windows 7.
But windows 10 has been amazing for the past 3-4 years of using it.

Hell it installed M.2 RGB software for my non-RGB monitor.
