CoD games sells well not because they are the "BEST FPS GAME" but because of these 3 factors:

1. Huge marketing campaigns.

2. New video game players who have no experience what's so ever with games, so they are naturally attached to the first game they have ever played seriously. I would say that they makes up the majority of CoD players.

3. Naive CoD 4 players who keep thinking that the new CoD game is going to good until they are slapped in the face by the repetitive gameplay, graphics and story.

Most of the people I know that really "Worship" CoD are extreme fanboys with new experience in video games and usually casual players who doesn't care about quality.

Probably the amount of traffic its getting is slowing it down. Or its some hackers who hated MW2 & BLops so badly they want to get revenge and make sure the world never knows about MW3

Couldn't agree more.... COD fans (at least on the PC side) are mostly kids who have no clue what real teamwork is and usually take to hacking. I'm generalizing I know but play MW2 Multiplayer on the PC and you'll know exactly what I mean.

Anyhoo, let's move on to better things like the promise of a great game in BF3 (or at least we can hope

i vastly disagree, atleast as far as the US goes. you would be incredibly hard pressed to find someone from their early teens to their early thirties who hasnt atleast heard of Call of Duty. ifs thats not a cultural icon, what is?

World of Warcraft is certainly a cultural phenomenon. Call of Duty: Black Ops has sold over 20 million copies and grossed 1 billion dollars in only a couple months. James Cameron's Avatar is the only product in the entertainment industry to rival that success.
