Never assume there's only 1 video card in my house sir. :)

I gave my kid RX 6700 XT. Gave Bones 6600 non XT I think it was. My brother got 6500XT and 6700 non xt. 6800 was sold. So where 2x 6500 XT cards. And a 6400 sold. Daughters rig RTX 2060. My rig 4070 Super. Drawer holds undisclosed number of cards and their make and models. Remember Ive benchmarked at least 200 video cards in my OC career. :)

You should have given your kid the 6800. Your brother should have gotten the 6700 XT. You should move to Radeon.

You should move to Radeon.
In RX 6000/7000 Series and up that's a smart move! If you look at which direction nvidia is going.

Honestly it even sounds too conservative to be true but who knows.

In Europe right now there are bigger gap than only ~10% as you mentioned.
7600 vs. 4060 (in the US it was $270 vs. $300, ~10%)
7800XT vs. RTX 4070 (in the US it was $500 vs. $550, ~10%)

AMD should be announcing a price in two days, whatever AMD announces as the 9070 XT price, I expect Nvidia to simply add ~10% on top of the competing card.

Yep. Getting out of video card synthetic benchmarking. I'm not usually gaming.

I sold a lot of modern cards because the resale is better than holding onto them.

But I wouldn't be opposed to getting a lower end video card for a 1080P monitor, but all this was explained in that thread already. I was convinced to just keep the 4070 S. :)

Kid just turned 13 and a brick rigs junky. He can run the game on his shoe otherwise. The cpu change from 5600G to 12400F eliminated high brick cpunt cars causing lag though.

What is the price difference between these cards in Europe?
RX 7600 251€, RTX 4060 291€ or 16% more expensive.

6800 I got nearly all my money back when I was done with it. Its fast, but he's coming from a 1080ti, so he was happy with it. He got 6650 XT the year before.

I give them as Birthday Cards, surely you catch the pun! :p but true story!

No wait, I did give my brother the 6800XT. Damnit. Hard to keep track the last few years...

Me too man! Maybe not my 980.. but for sure my 3070Ti :D
I went from my 980 to my 3080 Ti.

Honestly 980 was doing perfectly fine at 1080p, was only starting to have issues once I upgraded to 1440p and then I got my 3080 Ti used and got into 4k. What I am noticing at 4k mostly is the VRAM of 12GB just isn't enough.

Yep was hitting vram issues at 4k with my 3080ti so 4090 it is.... Thankfully I've went back to 1440p but UW and the 4090 kills it at that rez so no pressing need to upgrade.... I might just wait for witcher 4 and then pull the trigger on whatever can barely run that lol....

That would last for maybe a month, till Nvidia brings out its response to the 9070 XT, which will probably only cost 10% more than what the 9070 XT ends up being.
No! Nvidia's prices are going to be absurd, just wait and see. Their 5070 is going to likely cost $700 or $800, their 5070ti will cost $1000, etc... They won't wait a month and lower the 5070 price to $550, a year will pass and maybe they will release a 5070 super with a $600 price and maybe 3-4% more performance.

9070 XT launches first. There will be no need for Nvidia to make adjustment as 5070 won't be out yet, AMD sets the price of this performance tier (and Nvidia usually follows at 10% higher).

Its more likely 9070 XT comes out at too high a price, doesn't sell, and then AMD has to lower their own price. We've seen this time and time again...

Unless performance is crazy or the 5070 is drastically better than the 9070XT I doubt pricing will be too crazy. I do see a ridiculous price for the 5070ti and above happening for sure though. 999-1300 wouldn't shock me.

Then it'll get replaced by the 5070 super with 18GB of vram and possibly some more sm a year later or so assuming Nvidia even feels the need with such pathetic competition.

Chip manufacturers should offer different VRAM options to users. For example, why doesn't the RTX 5090 have a 64 GB option? (Or will it? It should!) I would rather buy a 32 GB RTX 5080 for $1800 than a 16 GB RTX 5080 for $1500.
They do, that's their enterprise lineup that goes for $3~9k. Nvidia knows that folks that need more VRAM are using it professionally, so they do the proper segmentation based on that.

RX 9070 will cost $500, it will offer 7% faster performance than the 7900GRE. RTX 5070 will cost $700 according to all of the sources, offer 4070ti performance.

So here are the data for AMD:
RX 9070XT, 16gb vram, 256bit = $500 (5-10% faster than 7900GRE)
RX 9070, 16GB vram 256bit =$400 (similar performance to the 7800XT)
RX 9600XT 12gb vram, 192bit =$300 (similar performance to the RX 7700XT)
RX 9600 12gb vram, 192bit = $250 (10% slower than the 7700XT or 20% faster than the 7600 if you will)

From the reported RX 9070XT specs and clocks, I do expect it to perform closer to the RTX 4070 TI / TI Super which makes it at least 10-20% faster than RX 7900GRE.

Games don't push me to upgrade my PC (I usually do it on my own without any game pushing me), but The Witcher has managed to do it with every episode so far.

I've bought Gtx 1080 Amp extreme in 2022 for $140, and It's so good for today's standards. If I would've need to upgrade, I would get the rtx 3080 for $350 cuz it's like triple or double the performance, and I can use the nvidia acceleration for photoshop or blender.

The features and performance of the 4070 Ti would make for great competition at the moment.
I hop onto to 4060 Ti shopping list and it's just as bad:

That's the current price floor in USD. Wtf is happening?
which makes it at least 10-20% faster than RX 7900GRE.
Even with this going on I'm not sure if okay with this part if it launches above $550.

I usually juggle raster performance against things like feature quality and total package quality but that's not going to work this time.
Price is way too unstable to do anything right now and I don't see what's driving any of it. It's also annoying to sort feature sets. We need charts.

At $250 cheaper, the 7900 GRE is really a no-brainer. It's much faster than the 4060 Ti, too. It's also a discontinued product, so if you want one, get it ASAP while it's still in stock.

Edit: I don't know how much better price-to-performance ratio people are waiting from AMD. This really shows that Nvidia is selling GPUs on name only.

Wow. The price/performance ratio on these 4060 TI cards is a joke. I wonder what the prices will be for RTX 50x0 series, but it doesn't look good.

From the reported RX 9070XT specs and clocks, I do expect it to perform closer to the RTX 4070 TI / TI Super which makes it at least 10-20% faster than RX 7900GRE.
Time will tell if it really beats my current 6800 XT with the games i do i will consider to replace this fast one.
Do not get me wrong but the 7% improvement is with the standard clocks i expect all the other brands will get more out these cards by overclocking higher

This really shows that Nvidia is selling GPUs on name only.
failvidia does let everyone pay for all new invented same cards to get more profit from the same thing.
4060, 4070, 4080 amd 4090 non, s, ti, ti s, the list grows on

Games don't push me to upgrade my PC (I usually do it on my own without any game pushing me), but The Witcher has managed to do it with every episode so far.

Its almost always game related for me CP2077 path traced and Witcher 3 next gen are what pushed me over the edge lol

The features and performance of the 4070 Ti would make for great competition at the moment.
I hop onto to 4060 Ti shopping list and it's just as bad:

That's the current price floor in USD. Wtf is happening?

Even with this going on I'm not sure if okay with this part if it launches above $550.

I usually juggle raster performance against things like feature quality and total package quality but that's not going to work this time.
Price is way too unstable to do anything right now and I don't see what's driving any of it. It's also annoying to sort feature sets. We need charts.

Yeah Nvidia is pretty much clearing all stock so priced are getting nutty.
