What does "ES" suppose to mean? Estimated Specifications...

Engineering Sample. It means that it's not ready to be sold but it's used for compatability testing and things like that.

D'oh, CDdude beat me by a few seconds.

Interesting news. I was thinking of upgrading to the 2600k but I think it may be safe to say I should wait ;)

ES of BD show it will barely be able to handle SB
Engineering Samples, estimated specifications, and leaked B-M are still not the real thing. You're probably just better off considering them "plants of disinformation" to locate where a leak might propagate or plainly keep competitors thinking. I've watch in the past smoke-screens and diversions used to strengthen releases… it happens. How do you not know that AMD didn't leak a rumor of a "delay" to flush-out Intel to move or not move? How do we know this Intel story wasn't out by Intel to worry AMD, even though they won't have marketable SKU's till Q1 2011.

It’s a game of Spy vs. Spy and nobody actually has a good idea. Heck for all you know tPU is at a fever-pitch running B-M of both BD and SB-E as they are both to release the 22nd.

You’re posting just an opinion base on speculation, rumors, and unsubstantiated B-M. “ES” are almost always unique so they can see how it is amicable to the hardware and setup, while distinct enough to point back to the tester who received it if they out- the information. As this is a complete new architecture, even saying specification-wise (though probably massaged and photo shopped) aren’t going to be comparative to a released CPU “ABC” is a stretch.

Stop talk'n trash! :shadedshu
