Has there ever been an instance where support for any technology came in software, with hardware to follow?Which we will have to take your word for it, cause there's nothing to show it at the moment...
Of course there's no title support on launch day, but planned support looks way better than it did for DX12, async compute or even tessellation in their time.
And the IQ improvements you have already seen in the demos (or was just one demo?).
