12 GB of vram is not even enough for 1440p in some games. In Indiana Jones I have to turn down texture pool size four notches just to keep from going over 12. A 5070 will literally not be able to run any better settings than a 4070 in that game. The next Doom game is going to use the same engine and standard ray tracing requirements so it's going to be an issue there too. This level of performance in 2025 should absolutely have 16 GB of vram as well as being at least $100 cheaper.

Please say that about 30000 more times if you have the energy. Some people need to hear it.

(I don't know about Doom, given ID usually optimizes the living shit out of everything, but that could still be true, and surely is/will be of other games.)

It's obviously not for 4K+RT. It's low to mid range. 70 series migrated to where 60 series used to be.
What you say is right but those price will go crazy.
That card should be 5060ti

Right, it *can* do that. I know that, guy. I very-much know how over-specced they are.
I think AMD/ATi has allowed cards from the factory (not counting unsanctioned v-mods or software before it was regulated) to go over the connector spec approx one time in all my years I can remember.
But they are not going to rate a card over the connector power spec, or they would just give them all 3x8-pin connectors.
That is like saying your 600w connector may be allowed to pull 1000w with the factory bios. It might go over a little, especially with transience, but not a ton.
Are you being factitious or do you really not understand?
I understand *some* might pull over 375w, again I don't know the bios/PL sitch, but I imagine it won't be extremely high bc memory bw is a concern and there's likely another sku they have to sell.
If they allow much over 375w, there's not going to be a lot of juice left in the tank.
Considering I think the high-end sku will be ~3.5ghz stock (and use 3x8-pin), and 1.2v/up to ~3700 might take ~425w (or ~475w if 32GB), I doubt this will encroach on it's territory. It might, but then just bw limited.
It's not the GPU makers allowing the 8 pins to pull more power.
The PSU makers are making the adapter cables that can support 600w with 2x 8pin connectors.

All I'm saying the 150w limit should never be said anymore since there is a lot of evidence that shows it isn't true anymore.
If I look at my local computer store, Thermaltake, Corsair, SuperFlower and Coolermaster sell 2x8 pin to 12vhpwr cables that support 600w.

Can't wait for the 5070 SUPER to drop for $50 more arbitrarily and barely match the 4070Ti SUPER. What a travesty.

@W1zzard I know the review is not for the 4080 cards, but on the price perf graph you have the 4080 super as more expensive than the 4080 when it was 20% cheaper, hoping you can republish that graph.

Given the rumours about AMD performance of upcoming cards, AMD need to get a move on, I think one reason they have poor sales is they always launch after Nvidia.

Not good.. I mean this kinda ruins my plans/hopes for the 5060 Ti '16GB' to be on par with the 4070 Super at least.. 'it was my planned upgrade but now I'm not really sure huh'
I mean yeah I've kind of expected this but still this is still disappointing in a way considering the prices in my country.

I wish AMD had a better and more competitive feature set and then I would go back to them in a heartbeat since I did not have any issue with them in the past its just that I've grown too used to Nvidia's features on a daily basis that I just can't at these prices since both are expensive here anyway.

No, more like 1.85 times as fast in realistic use cases. Many people prefer to play games faster than a console-like 30 FPS. +1 for cherry-picking though!

Stay tuned for that feature set wish from AMD. Hang on, who are you kidding. You'll buy NVidia anyway.

There are other games not in the TPU graphs because they're newer and/or never made it into the suite. HWUboxed did a video about it. Last of Us Part 1 & Avatar being two of the more VRAM heavy games going over 12GB of VRAM usage.
You see, this what I hate. W1zz does a review, finds one game that misbehaves, throws a blanket statement and now I'm supposed to chase all over the Internet to see what he meant. That's just... not nice.
Now, I would never call a 5070 a 4k card, and I don't think people should buy it and expect a good experience, but if someone does, they'll definitely run into issues in the future with RAM usage on newer games.
I figure, with that 192bit memory bus, they could throw any amount of other resources at it and it still wouldn't cut it for 4k. 1440p with DLSS is all you can hope if you (like me) have a 4k screen and don't to deal with straight up scaling.

Not really, if they really had an at least on par upscaler/support then I would go back to AMD since its what I use in every single game I play nowadays. 'DLSS Quality is auto enabled in every game I play over TAA'
Btw I've had more AMD hardware in the past than Nvidia and Intel combined so you are barking at the wrong person. :)
I simply buy whats best for my actual use case and within budget ofc.

But it's over 2.5 times as fast as B580

??? What does performance have to do with manufacture? The point is a card with a bigger die that shouldn't cost much less on the rest, is less than half the price.

1/0,54=1,85 not 2,5

550/250=2,2 so it still offers a worst price/pref.

Pathetic all around. Doesnt even max out the GB205 die. I guess they are leaving room for a 5070 super in the stack.
GB205 is suspect. Are they totally changing the die naming scheme? First they started doing the whole x03 thing for the 4080 / 4080 Super. Now there's no GB204, we go straight down to GB205

GA104 -> 6144 cuda cores, 392mm2 die on Samsung 8nm
AD104 -> 7680 cuda cores, 294mm2 die on TSMC 4N
GB205 -> 6400 cuda cores, 263mm2 die on TSMC 4N

Oh I see now....manufactured ewaste.

Good summary really. It feels like the reason where theres so much OC headroom was because NVIDIA intended the 5070 to be alot faster than it actually was at stock but backpedaled when they realized they already used how many more watts to barely beat a 4070S? Atleast thats my conspiracy theory. Plus, whole thing with the die naming scheme. First the 4060, the 3050 6GB and then this? Smells extremely fishy.

LoL so 5070 is slightly better than 4070 Super, that's slightly better than I expected.

Now if only Nvidia were willing to flood the market with RTX5000 like they did with RTX4000, though I highly doubt it since Nvidia doesn't want any more marketshare :rolleyes:
