But that's the only way it feels "bearable". If capped at 60, I get even worse performance comparing to regular VSync (I'm talking about stuttering on the monitor, not PC lagging).
Constant frame jumping and image distortion.
Before this update I was using fastsync, which gives best of both worlds with less performance impact. I guess I'll have to stick with that until I get a proper 144Hz 4K in about 4-5 years :banghead:
Exactly you need to have an be within your actual range for it to work. On AMD the ideal setup is running both Enhanced Sync with Freesync so Enhanced cover when it goes outside of the Freesync range making the transitions between the two seamless for your case for example allowing that kind of extremes without any penalty in theory. I’m still sceptical of it but I’ve been assured by AMD this is the ideal setup. I’m still waiting for someone combine Fast Sync and VRR to see if that combo produces the same results.

I also find it sad that NVIDIA can't support this open standard as well as AMD and Intel can.
Since when did Intel started supporting freesync? I thought it was only an obscure promise, like 10nm, or dGPU revival.

This driver is the confession that the G-Sync ship has sunk. It isn't a big problem to say it failed and there is better price-performance option for Sync technology.

G-Sync is ACTUALLY a better technology. Go read up on what it entails.

How? I know for fact Nixieus has tested both extensively in their monitors and find very little difference if any.

how come 900 series or older aren't supported? G-Sync has a 650Ti listed as slowest card that supports it as far as I can tell, and it's not like the two are THAT different, are they? I was excited up until I saw that only 10 and 20 series is officially supported. I hope older cards will get the feature. I can't afford to upgrade at the moment and not in the foreseeable future and I'd like to use the freesync on my monitor.

Funny little thing to add... my 1080ti was over running my monitors 75hz freesync range, and I was reading about turning on vsync, frame limiters, etc to keep it under it.

But then I thought about it and instead scaled the game resolution up and started testing to find the sweet spot. It turned out to be about 1.3x, (I was testing Far Cry 5) but it keeps the framerates in the 60-75 range and is smooth as absolute butter with no added latency. Testing the same method in my other commonly played titles now.

Just thought I'd share that for anyone else toying with it.

Never supported..it's all in DP and nvidia made a tool to flash that said DP to support v1.4 or in this case v 1.2a for adaptive vsnyc, so it is not in architecture..

That said yes they disabled it intentionally.

Weird issues with this driver. Some games would start minimised. Also, PUBG works in fullscreen-window or windowed modes only (no true fullscreen). Rolling back 417.35 fixes those issues immediately. Tried it twice, same results.

Got to hate how twisty their marketing is, but it's great that nVidia users can finally take advantage of not-a-gut-punch-in-the-wallet VRR.

I hear this doesn't support Windows 7? and dodgy for some on HDMI instead of DP?
would like to test if my LG 23MP68VQ-P + GTX 1070 works but it seems i have these limitations, would have to test it once i get back home.
I was able to enable freesync on the monitor though, because it unlocks up to 75Hz vs not enabling it locked only to 60Hz

Be aware this Gsync is very imprecise. Usually on Gsync monitors you want to cap your framerate 3 fps lower than the refresh rate of your monitor, so you don´t hit the Gsync ceilling wich causes either:

- Input Lag
- Tearing Line

With the Gsync on this driver, on FreeSync monitors, doesn´t matter if validated or not, you will hit the ceilling constantly even at 141fps cap on a 144hz monitor, for example, wich breaks all the benefits of Gsync. At 120fps cap (on a 144hz monitor) you are safe and it barely hits the ceilling.

Cheers

On top of that, I notice the transition on LFC / frame doubling when the FPS drops below the VRR range of the monitor is quite wonky on G-sync.
I do notice a sudden transistion in some cases. Luckily I only ever drop below 48FPS when I am actively testing with the Freesync / G-sync Demos.
Overclocking the monitor VRR range to 30~144hz also by pass this issue, and below 30FPS the experience is crap anyway Sync or no Sync.
