That's because the game IS technically in Alpha. It's not feature complete, and still in dev. The fact that it's playable doesn't change that. Also, I think the UI not having the same level of polish as many AAA games contributes to that feeling.
That being said, the core gameplay loop is so good, and well-executed that most people will look past the lack of polish.

Comparing PUBG to H1z1 king of the kill though. That game has been our for like 4 years. still in early access, and just now since PUBG launched finally making some progress. PubG in 4 months has made more progress than that game has made in 4 years.

IMO, solo top 10 is easy but chicken dinner obviously is hard. The biggest thing I can say that helps me (backtrack to this, I have generally okay aim/gamesense vs somebody playing casually) is just doing whatever the fuck you want and not worrying about other players. Most people are so scared because they know if they die all their 'hard work' is gone. So if you're not trying to go for stats, and just to get kills/occasionally win, do whatever you want. Go rambo, drive around for 10 minutes honking your horn, spray people with the M249, etc. It's so much fun to just use the game as an open world with perma-death rather than a survival type game. At worst, when there are like 20 people alive, get a bit serious and go towards the smaller circle if you really want the win.

TL;DR: everybody else is as scared as you are to die, so take advantage of it and just have fun playing; you might be surprised to come out on top!

Lol, at 2560x1440, this thing uses over 5gb of vram at my settings (mostly ultra... post processing turned down)

It’ll work ok with on low settings. I was playing it on GTX680 2GB, had to put all settings to low, texture on medium and antialiasing to ultra. Very playable.

I got really good frames on my 1070 on mostly lower settings. Since I changed to a 1080TI its never dropped below 60 unless a crazy lag spike happens

Unless your comp is a potato you shouldnt have issues anymore. In the last 2 months it has gone from running at about 60-70fps to 90-100fps for me and i run mostly high and ultra at 1440p. Though nvidias current drivers are garbage. I probably crash every other game woth the new ones compared to the previous ones where i never crashed. It runs a whole lot better than it used too. Especially if you have a CPU with 4 or more cores, ever since a patch they made that utulizes more than 2-4 threads. I see a lot less client performance issues reports now. Even people running lower end modern hardware seem to have not much issues now. Settings have to be lower though. I get performance drops if im in the middle of red zones, or if the servers are having a bad day. 20 tick servers is garbage. You could get like 60fps+ on your end but server tick rate makes it feel lower. They need to focus on server and hit reg more. The last 2 little weekly updates have been dissapointing really.

I run a 980ti and i5 4690 on my main machine... a couple of months ago, I got 30-40fps. Nowadays, I'm getting 90+. The performance issues that people talk about are old news. The game will run fine on a 770.

I've been having some issues with PUBG and have yet to find a fix. Essentially, my game will hang, forcing me to alt+tab out twice (first to 'unfreeze' and the second to be able to turn body/head). It happens randomly, although more often within the first five minutes of the game. It's frustrating, especially since it happens nearly every single game.

Any suggestions on a fix? I've searched everywhere without any luck.

Do have have Relive instant replay on? Been having a similar issue and turning Relive instant replay off stopped it for me

I'm loving this game! My younger bro just got me into it, it's really addictive! :D

1080Ti (@2ghz) is running the game great with mostly ultra/high settings (foliage set to low) at 1440p. It's silky smooth most of the time at 120fps average, but I'm noticing a bit of a CPU bottleneck as 1 thread sometimes gets heavily loaded up and fps dips to ~60fps for a few seconds. Overall I'm happy with how it's running though.

Favorite weapon is the crossbow atm

I would love to file a class action on steam against these games. Not cheap and remarkably poor alpha states.

Know some folk that love it yet it seems like a very shabby version of DayZ without the zombies. I'm getting crashes very often.

And yes - I know what Alpha state means but in my mind I dont think PUBG will ever be published as finished and as such, if that is the case - i'll have my cash back please.
