What are you running your ram at?

1:1 ratio, there is was at 978mhz, 6-6-6-18 2.3v . For 4.5ghz i had it on the same settings at 1000mhz and 3Dmark kept crashing. I guess i need new ram ..

Well, it looks like I'll have to do a bios flash so I can get 45 row refrsh for my memory. I am very reluctant to do so, since I already did one bad flash on this board. You win. My new quad will be here soon.

edit: mines set at 42 refresh to act delay, is that the same thing?

Yeah, I think so but I'm runnng my memory close to 1300mhz, so I need to loosen things up a bit, and with my current bios the memory options just aren't there. Kudos to your Gigabyte board though, and your're awesome score! You should really consider a set of Transcend Axeram 1200, I bet you could do 4.5+ and hit the coveted 20,000!

I have 2x2 gig of Gskill DDR2 PC8000 @ 1000mhz 5 - 5 - 5 - 15

I can get a stable 1075, and when i mean stable, its stable ish(crashes about every 5 or 6 hours). Should I loosen up the timings on it?? I tried with the voltage as much as I could, I just couldnt get it to stablize. Hell I can get it to post at 1320(prob could go higher), It will load windows @ 1200, just not really stable(maybe like an hour max).

Could you recommend any timings for me (ASUS RAMPAGE - very similar to your bios!)

Coming from my P5b I know nothing of OCing ram. It doesnt have nearly 1/4 of the options that this board has.

Any help is appreciated!!

I'm trying to figure things out myself. The Ai clock twister and strong, moderate, realaxed different levels, etc. are all confusing as hell to me. I tried just about every setting tonight and failed most of the time. Off to play some games.

What fsb and NB voltage are you running for those speeds? The Maximus and Rampage like NB volts. I have to run over 1.6V NB to get 1200MHz ram at 400fsb stable.

You know that could be my problem! I was able to stable out my rig with ram @1000 and CPU at 3.7 with 1.39 volts. I have to keep it low otherwise the thing gets HOTTTT! I have an Antec spot cool fan blowing right on it and even at 1.39 when the proc is loaded up the NB still gets to 45C. I hate hot NB's.

Im thinking of water cooling the NB and putting some sort of cooler on the SB. Im gonna be running 2 water loops anyways so I might as well add the NB to one of them. Does anyone know if the MCW30 will fit on the NB of the rampage??

Also.... I want to add TEC, if I put add a small peltier cooling to my loop, do you think it will create condensation? I really dont want to fry my board, but I am scared to spray coat it and insulate it, and use dieelectric grease. I have a good feeling doing all that will void my warranty!

voiding your warranty is the least of your problems.. its voiding your sanity u should really be worried about..

how do u know its not the rest of your overclocked system that makes your card appear to crash at stock speeds.. the affect is the same..

good point, I just developed a new method for me when I OC my cards actually.

When I got the new mobo I wasnt sure what my stability issues were from, so I set the mobo to load the default settings, then found the sweet spot with the cards, then moved on to the ram & proc. I love the fact that my ASUS board allows me to save my OC settings, I can set my 24/7 clocks, my bench clocks, and then tweak from there. In case of a crash that needs the CMOS clear(which the rampage does on its own!) I can just revert to a clock that I know works!

thats a good PSU from what Ive read.

I was gonna get that myself, because I thought that I NEEDED modular, when really it didnt make that big of a difference.

I was gonna get the silverstone 1000w PSU, but I couldnt pass up the deal on the PC p & c 750!

See, about 99% of people would say your doing fine, and just stick with it and be happy.

So Ill chime in for the other 1 %. If you can swing it, get it! I gave up alot of bad habits to save money for my computer, and this way I have something to show for it!

Plus, once you leave home, youll prob be pretty broke for a while, so spend it on your computer instead of just wasting it somewhere else. Atleast this way your computer could make it a few years for you just as it is.

I know you aren't an OCZ fan, but the 750quads roll out of the same factory they always did. And they are solid as a rock!

maybe so, but i bought a 620 thinking oh well thats plenty of power and i ended up needing more. so i am just afraid a 750 is going to end up the same way.

modulere is nice but not essential. i will probably buy a new psu in about 4 weeks (i know thats a while)

750W isn't peak. Peak wattage (which is what most manufacturers advertise) is over 800Watts. Plenty of power!
