The Pro has a faster GPU so will run your games more smoothly at 1080p, it's not just for 4K. The catch is that the game has to be coded to take advantage of this, or the performance is the same as a bog standard PS4. New games should take advantage of it, but older ones you need to check as it's only a few at the moment that will get patched.

A friend of mine has recently got a Pro along with a 49" 4K TV and I can tell you the graphics look fabulous at 4K. If you didn't know, most people couldn't say if it was a console or PC. The biggest difference is that a high end PC will show some more detail and at much faster framerates in 1080p and 4K modes. That difference is worth spending the money on, of course.

By the way, I've just bought the Pro myself to play with my console friends online, plus the exclusives. It's just been delivered and is still sitting in its sealed box all delicious and tempting! :D It came as an Amazon deal with Fallout 4 for an extra 99p so getting this option was a no-brainer.
I'll second that I had a ps4 went pro and it is better, not revolutionary but better in all the 12 games I've played n I wouldn't buy a Scorpio myself due to my mate consensus going the Sony route.
Bf1 on pro v standard is like med to high settings in gfx appearance.

I was just speculating (again) about what the Scorpio pricing will be come end of 2017. I looked at the current lowest prices of the Fury and Fury X, because they're also made by AMD. The performance average between the two is equal to that of the 980 Ti, which is roughly equivalent (TFLOP wise) to the Scorpio APU's graphics power.

Lowest price Fury and Fury X averaged $290. By end of next year that could be as low as $225. At the very most $250 I think. So I'm now thinking it's very conceivable that the Scorpio will debut at a base price of $500. Price of course may depend on HDD size. If you notice, although the One S is going for as low as $250, the 2TB models are more like $450.

However both Sony and MS are known to take losses on new model consoles to keep you on their platform, so we could very well see even a 2TB Scorpio for $600 at launch. The Scorpio will support 4K in both movies AND gaming, so people are going to want large HDDs to store the larger file, current gen games. I just hope they don't spec questionable grade HDDs.

If the base model has a 2TB HDD, that will undoubtedly be true. And it just might, because that IS kind of an elite model console, and they're even talking a shorter platform cycle.

I have a Pro(got one for free because my ps4 died) and If I had to choose I would choose a PS4(non pro) over a Wii U and it sucks to say that because Xenoblade is a pretty good RPG and many of the RPG's(like star ocean and xcx) on PS4 are simply meh but you will have more choices on a PS4 and more games later on than the WiiU.

The Pro is not really worth the extra money to me, I would avoid it for now.

I still have Magna Carta 2 for 360 but I bought my 360 to play Lost Odyssey.

I have absolutely no regret over my purchase of Wii U because Xenoblade X was one hell of a game. I enjoyed it throughout. There is no game like that. I will play it again one day.

I was disappointed at Magna Carta but it did give me a chance to play Lost Odyssey. Man, I cried a lot while playing it.

I will probably go for the Slim in few days. I am not really hot on the three games I plan to get but I haven't had a decent game since Xenoblade X, so I am kinda on a dry spell here.

Dude the Pro IMO is a let down. No 4K native play AND no 4K bluray player! I mean really WTF! I'm looking at an XboxoneS now.

FYI I have a PS3 but man that Pro was a let down. If your just going to buy it for 3 games just get a used PS4 and call it a day.

The xbox one s doesnt have native 4k either. at least not for games. Just streaming

One S is listed on most price comparison sites as the least expensive 4K Blu-ray player, and it happens to come with an APU and gamepad to play all Xbox One games in case your console friends come over. So why not?

Jesus chooses One S (until Scorpio is available). LOL

It was more of a blanket statement based on my observations than a speculation on your reasons.

Dude.......FPS is only for keyboard and mouse. If a console can do that I'm cool with it. If not then..........MASTER RACE!

Also in case you missed it.....

You can actually get a keyboard and mouse for a PS4 for PC style play. Of course, the PS4 has been set up so only those reassuringly expensive official peripherals work with it rather than the cheap as chips generics. Despite the price gouging, I'll likely get them soon. I might then actually stand a chance in Rainbow 6 siege.

So, I've played SAO Hollow Realization for about 2 hours now. The game strongly reminds me PS3's White Knight Chronicles grahpic wise, overall mood as well as gameplay. I think 3D meshes are very similar with SAO having superior texture and bump maps due to superioer hardware.
A major flow of this game, to me at least, is that it has dating sim builtin. Doh. Girls everywhere. It's harem. Overall, it's ... not too bad but my gut feeling was right. It's kind of so-so.

And I haven't got to play FF 15 yet due to this... Holy mommy, 9.4GB update. A major fail in programming?

Xbox is out of the question because of selection of games.

Xbox games, I can play those on my PC, no problem.

But Star Ocean, SAO Hollow realization, Gravity Rush 2 (upcoming), and probably few more before PS4 lifespan runs out won't come to PC or Xbox. The thing is that Sony exclusives are far better for my taste in games which is JRPG oriented.

Why do you think I am buying consoles? I have PS2, PS3, PS Vita, PS TV, Wii, Wii U, and Nintendo 3DS.
It's not because I like concept of buying additional hardware with limited usage. It's because I want to play games that don't come to PC.

As a gamer, I care not which medium I get to choose as long as I get to play the ones I want.

Edit: I also have a Xbox 360 due to a single Xbox360 exclusive: Magna carta 2.

Seems some peopled missed that. I had little to no interest in an Xbox, and now zero considering the new games are coming to PC as well. For a PS4 there is one game I want, Ace Combat 7. Since that will likely be PS4 only there is zero reason to buy a Scorpio no matter how fast it is. No game I want = no purchase. Plus, my PC will be faster than any console so that is of no matter.

I was disappointed at Magna Carta but it did give me a chance to play Lost Odyssey. Man, I cried a lot while playing it.
Crying? Because of a video game? Sheeez man, grow a pair!

@alucasa that isn't a "normal patch" in the general sense, more like stuff they worked on after it was submitted to Sony and added it in as day one (or a handful of patches together). Happens to a lot of games, mostly due to how the approval process from Sony/MS/etc works and how long it takes.

In my defense, Last Odyssey was one of few that made me cry. Lirum's death was what got me. The game overall had a very dark mood, constant doom and gloom.

It's why I like to play RPG: Role Playing games. I role play.

Another memoriable game was the Last of Us PS3 version I bought on day one. During the last scene, the runaway from the hospital, I was speaking to myself, "Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck." That was intense.

Then again, for those moving from console to PC, and don't yet have and can't afford a decent gaming rig, the Scorpio will be a nice alternative. Plus there's always those games where PC players get pissed off because of certain DLC that comes out on console only.
