I think it's irrelevant (and btw, I have a Vapor-X card). :) The question is why TPU doesn't have these BIOSes. I mean don't you think it's rather strange that there's not a single R9 290X Vapor-X BIOS in the TPU database when even much newer GTX 970/980 BIOSes are easily available?
Nobody who has a R9 290X Vapor-X has uploaded theirs yet and W1zz doesn't have a sample of the card

I don't believe the bioses shown are right either, for example looking at all the XFX 290X ones there is no 1050 bios which is the card i have but it claims that it is already there. So either put the wrong details or some thing else is wrong.

http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/...FX&model=R9+290X&interface=&memType=&memSize=

As you can see there is no 1050 bios so wtf.

I just put in my sapph 290, and I'm running 53C no-load, and was running around 60-62, if i remember right, running loaded last night. Nice note to have tho. I wouldn't have thought it would make that kind of difference....

Does anyone with a vanilla xfx 290x use a non stock bios or know a better bios revision then the orginal iv been trying on and off since iv bought it (I dont really need to oc it for my needs) but I cant seem to break 1000mhz without artifacting without a ridiculous amount of voltage applied.

I use the stock BIOS for my both of my XFX 290x. I would send it back for an RMA. If you cant get 1000MHz stable there is something wrong with the GPU.

I use 1075/1350MHz with +32 mV +50 power.

no its stable at stock I just lost the silicone lottery it seems I cant get it to budge past 1000 even 1050 will give me artifacts. im just trying to re-analyze my options before I completely give up on it.

All software spouts BS when it comes to core voltage on R9 290X cards. I manually measures the voltage of my GPU while running Unigine with +81mv with core temps of 75C° and MSI AB and GPU-z were reporting ~1.2V when I checked with a DMM I was getting 1.3-1.28V and the memory was reading 1.58V on the DMM so software has no idea what the voltages are.

Total system usage was 395w, as i play games with vsync this is some what 150w give or take more than normal. If frigging uplay would stop being a ass peice of crap and work right though steam watch dogs might of pushed it a little further.

Chose an AMD bios. Sense you have a reference just pick one. My MSI gaming I use the 945 core reference one for testing and I get better clocks on it vs the MSI bios.

Hey full just to clarify you mean the AMD vanilla ones? the ones that were known to clock higher etc? You wouldn't happen to know where I could get my hands on one of those "review" bios' would you?

nvm grabbed one

i believe it's what the issue people are having mine can say 1.8 and be at 100% gpu usage and it can be what it is there it's still 100% gpu usage.

Try running Thief as i find that take more than most games, Tomb raider a little less and this screen next image of Euro Truck Simulator 2 and yet gpu-z still report 100%.

I just wish uplay would work right as i noticed back when i was playing WD that it had very high system power usage.

I recently noticed that software voltage readings for my R9 290X under load mean nothing. With +94mv on Core and +100mv on the AUX rail I was getting GPU-Z and AB reporting 1.2ish volts at 75C° and 1.5V on VRAM but when I checked with my DMM I was getting 1.29V on core and 1.58V on VRAM. Also got the card stable at 1140/1550.

I'm getting a new R9 from MSI for the shit I've been through the past 2 rma's. This time they're giving me a 290x instead of a 290 so that's a bonus.

So my question, should I run the 290x in the top slot and the 290 in the bottom or...?

Any MSI owners here know what card this is, It is an MSI R9 290X

But, I'm not sure if it's a reference or the TVIV card..

I know it's a gaming card and am sure the reference blower type was also named a gaming card, I may be wrong but I thought this is the place to find out for sure :lovetpu:
