My card cannot max the slider, IE 2800mhz. So the driver crashes. No artifacts at all. Just blank screen, the system hangs and the driver uninstalls itself.
Wattage increase doesn't matter, it seems 1.2v-core isn't enough. At least that's what it looks like against cards that can increase v-core.
So 2750mhz, with outstanding thermals, and a totally locked card. You get what the program gives you, not a stitch more. Attempting to raise limits on core drives the core to 500mhz.
It lacks... luster.
I can't recall where I read that, but for whatever reason it appears that the max clock slider on RDNA2 in the driver always goes exactly 50mhz above what you can actually set.
It's true for me at least (2900 of 2950 max).
As for the drivers just some notes by someone who's been using AMD for about 20 years now and never had serious problems with any of it:
No auto-updates for Windows.
No auto-updates for drivers.
No third party driver utilities like DDU.
Only install releases that are actually relevant to you.
Periodically apply factory reset every few installs.
All drivers downloaded from TPU (including chipset).
