Response from another site

Intel has locked out CPU voltage control including IccMax adjustment on 12th and 13th Gen non K series CPUs. There is no way to fix EDP throttling unless you have an unlocked K series CPU.

So basically what i was told in antother forum was get a k cpu

only z mb's can oc my cpu so im not shure about getting a k cpu

i was told in another forum
Was the other forum Tom's Hardware? You are creating extra work for me by asking the same question in multiple forums. :)

Users with unlocked 13600K CPUs have full access to the FIVR settings including IccMax on B760 boards. You cannot overclock on these boards but at least you can adjust the FIVR voltage and IccMax current limits. In theory, that should allow you to run the ring/cache at its full rated speed without any EDP throttling problems.

There is no way to know for 100% sure what is possible until you buy an unlocked K series CPU. Manufacturers are constantly dreaming up new schemes to lock out settings. Something that is possible today can be locked out after installing an updated BIOS version.

The 13600K works best on B760 boards when using the early 0x104 microcode. This early microcode disables undervolt protection. This lets you lower the CPU voltage and lower full load temperatures by up to 20°C. Many Asus and Gigabyte boards have an early microcode option available in the BIOS. Hopefully your Asrock board has the same option or lets you install an early BIOS version.

Couldn't i just get a 14100 or a higher i3, they are surpose to be 6 cores and all should work 100% stock or just slightly higher power limit (improves my score with my current cpu) ?

Can i fix it in the registry, when i found a bigger, faster cpu for my B760 mb (regardless if it's a k cpu or not) ?

HATE to do a reinstall of windows 11, so many thing have to be installed and adjusted

No one knows what ring IccMax limit Intel uses on any of their CPUs. The 14100 does not exist yet. It might EDP throttle or it might not. No one knows yet.

Can i fix it in the registry
No, you cannot fix anything by making a change in the registry. In non K CPUs, the default ring IccMax current limit is likely hard coded into the CPU by Intel during manufacture. It is not something that can be easily changed.

reinstall of windows 11
No matter what you do, you probably will not have to reinstall Windows 11.

Why does some EDP ring throttling bother you so much? This is how Intel designs their non K CPUs. Everyone has the same problem so it is really not a problem. It is completely normal for low end CPUs to EDP throttle the ring. You cannot change this. The tiny loss of performance is nothing to worry about.

My 4 core cpu doesn't have that problem

Get a K CPU with Z motherboard and be done with it.
I don't wanna get a hot cpu and and a z mb, to expensive

I just wanna have a 65 or max in the low 100 watt tdp cpu, i have had som fairly hot cpus, i don't what that, heat and power consumption

For now undtil the next cpu i get can run fairly coole and with no limits im sticking to a 4 core 8 thread cpu, it's just numbers, even when it's not a 6 or higher core cpu they are pretty fats and good for gaming (impressive a 13100 can beat an i9 10900k)

But nice to know what to do for my next upgrade

Does it matter if it's a Z690 or Z790

Z790 boards may have better DDR5 memory support (higher speeds), if you go with DDR5.

Last year I went with a GB Z690 Aorus Master board with beefy VRM which runs very cool with my i7 12700K all-P-cores @ 5GHz , 5 M.2 slots, 6 SATA and it has a backplate to keep the motherboard from bending/warping.

Don't think im going for ddr 5

For now latest 4 core i3 beats 2 gen i9 in games, that's nice

if my mb can run it and it was cheap (atleast double the price of 3600mhz cl16) i would have 32gb ddr 4 3600mhz cl 14

If you buy a quality board , good cooler, good fans, good case , your CPU doesn't have to run that hot (unless you push it to the maximum with benchmarking),
I don't understand why you would whine about a 125W CPU, my CPU runs about 65 degrees when gaming in Summer, my M.2 SSD's run at around 45 degrees when running a game from it, my other 3 SATA SSD's run at around 34 degrees.
If you want to save energy, look at your other electronic household devices or electronic tools in your garage.

Try it both ways and let us know what works best. You can monitor the Cache Ratio (Ring Ratio) in the ThrottleStop FIVR monitoring table.

I think Ring Down Bin (ring offset) is forced upon the non K CPUs such as the 13400F.

EDP throttling due to a current limit being set too low and ring offset are two different things.

Your previous screenshot showed that Ring Down Bin was enabled and this setting was locked.

Best thing to sawe power in a household is getting a Frigde that uses low energy. That is the household item that usually consumes the most power.

Im on a 13400f again and im still have ring edp other limits

Should i worry about it ?

if i need a z mb, what ultra low budget that can be adjusted so the ring edp other limit goes away would you recommend ?

There might not be any boards available that will make ring EDP other go away. Intel has locked out any FIVR adjustments on the non K CPUs. It does not matter what board you use. The FIVR IccMax current limits are not adjustable.

I choosed a 13400f because of the tdp , low temps, higher multicore (slightly better single core) as some might know 11 gen for me with no throttling (high power limit) was,are hot, i don't ever want to have a hot cpu (125 watt tdp or higher) running below stock speed

k cpu and z mb would be to expensive

Is it safe to run,use my cpu when throttlestop tells me i have a limit all the time ?

Since it's not possible to adjust out of it, it might not be optimal, but should still be okay to use my pc ?

I choosed a 13400f because of the tdp , low temps, higher multicore (slightly better single core) as some might know 11 gen for me with no throttling (high power limit) was,are hot, i don't ever want to have a hot cpu (125 watt tdp or higher) running below stock speed

k cpu and z mb would be to expensive

Is it safe to run,use my cpu when throttlestop tells me i have a limit all the time ?

Since it's not possible to adjust out of it, it might not be optimal, but should still be okay to use my pc ?
if you are concerned about power efficiency, then your only anwser would be AMD. Intel is saying that their "intel 7" is as efficient as tsmc/global foundries 7nm, but in fact its not, its just 10nm+++. And amd is already at 5nm and even 4nm (some mobile cpus like r7 7840u). And if you look up the multi core power efficiency, you will see ryzens at the top of the charts. Plus for gaming nothing can beat a ryzen with 3D cache. The only intel cpus that are somewhat balanced are the locked i3 and i5, but thats pretty much it and those cpus are bottom of the barrel, and dont excel at gaming today (which means they would suck at gaming tomorrow, and you will be forced to upgrade). Intel as of right now just went the FX route, insane power draw and bad efficiency (they are trying their best with 10nm+++ tho, squeezing the last bit of performance combining the energy efficient and performance cores to increase the core count at all cost.)
If you want to save energy, look at your other electronic household devices or electronic tools in your garage.
the thing is, you can have a 200+ W power draw and stay below 70C, but that only applies to a water cooled and/or full sized rig. What if you have a nano itx case, and only want to use air cooling? Is there any intel cpu that can stay below 110W and still score above 18000 points in cinebench r23? (110w is about the maximum wattage a 90mm small tower cooler can handle below 85C and at reasonable dba, at ambient 25-30C). And for stuff like video rendering you can expect the cpu to stay at that maximum power draw for hours.
