I am not a computer expert or engineer or anything of that sort, but I think your issue may be connection-related. Maybe the HDMI/DP whatever slot you use is broken or some solder/wire got messed up during the card's previous use. It's safer to just return this and get a different card if you can. Whatever fix you find could stop working in a matter of days.

Whether your card is a regular or LHR version depends on the GA106 that your card's using. GA106-302-A1 for the LHR version and GA106-300-A1 for the OEM version. If you wanna know the type of card, the die on the PCB will say so (I believe). The die is right under the heatsink and fans. Although I am not sure whether or not the die type matters or not regarding your issue.

Regarding PCIe 4.0, no you won't have any issues whatsoever. The drop is so small you'll never lose more than a single frame usually, so no problems with your motherboard's PCIe compatibility.

so are they two different BIOS or the same?
Also, is there a way to use this card WITHOUT connecting to it but using the GPU?? if that makes sense lol
Thank you for the good suggestion too :)

That card is dead I'm afraid. The suspiciously low price should have been a red flag; classic too good to be true situation. It should cost several hundred dollars, not under a hundred. Get your money back if you can.

You'll be on a hiding to nothing if you keep trying to get it to work. Did the seller flog it as fully working, or faulty?

The bios would most certainly be different as these are two different dies, but I am not fully sure. Also your idea, while it's good in hindsight, I believe would certainly be very hard to properly manage, and the GPU most likely cannot transfer pixels like that to another graphics card. I think you want to use your 3060 as a rendering driver and another card as a display driver? Unfortunately that's probably impossible without modding that is overly dangerous. As I suggested, I think you have no other choice but to return this card.

Hey guys!
SO,
I fixed the freezing problem but as far as the flickering goes every 5 seconds i don't really know if it's a display for issue or what..

when i restart the computer and plug into a display port (I am on HDMI right now)
I get this message:
------------------------------------------------------
A problem has detected window and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer
check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates and disable bios memory options such as caching or shadowing..

error code:

STOP:0x0000007e

iusb3xhc.sys
-----------------------------------------------------
so i am thinking i may be out of date with my bios or something

How can i disable those options like shadowing or caching???

Updating the drivers I believe

But I never have updated my motherboard BIOS ever so when I get home I will try it.

Do you happen to know how to disable the above-mentioned?

Sorry, how to disable what?

It doesn't hurt to update the mobo BIOS either, regardless of this card, as long as you do it carefully. I recommend unplugging it when you do however and just working with the IGP in case of a crash. In the middle of a BIOS flash, that could brick your PC.

I don't know how
Right, some BIOSes literally have a feature called memory shadowing or caching. If it's not there, then don't worry about it. I think it's mainly older motherboards that have it and it's related to 32-bit CPUs.

And seriously, DO NOT flash with that bad card plugged in. There's a not so small chance that it could cause a hang that will brick your PC. If you don't have another card to hand, buy a super cheap card for $30-$50 or so just to give you a picture and use that. I can't stress the importance of this enough.

Is it possible to get your money back on this faulty card? Don't waste any more time on it and go for that, if possible.

This Is For Gaming Only NOT mining.. :)

I would heed the advice of the other people and return the graphics card while you can. They mean well. I'm afraid that you bought e-waste. $94 for a 3060? Come on man. Solaris and qubit are right, if that card is not mining refuse, I'm Santa Claus. Price is a major red flag, I would expect a 3060 for $100 from a lifelong geek friend that has one around unused and wants to make you happy, and that's if you are really legendary friends hahahah

That CPU is horribad for gaming, you're keeping that E5 v3 for gaming purposes and buying something for it instead of passing on a previous-generation high end GPU onto it, go no higher than GTX 1080/RTX 2060, IMHO. Anything more is a waste of money. My personal experience with a 18-core v3, anyway.

8 cores @ 2.6 Ghz keeps me happy enough.. :)

i game on it all the time it's one of my main rigs

my system specs on the dropdown are OLD lol
I have upgraded since..

I was going by what you have listed in the OP, the E5-2640 v3 CPU is an 8-core 16-thread model. It's similar to the i7-5960X, but it has a very slow clock speed by comparison.

I have an actual 18-core, 36-thread E5 v3 (4669 v3), and it's... well, I don't wanna be the bearer of bad news, but gaming on that is a bad idea, unless you're happy with low frame rates. Even if you put a 3090 in it, and believe me, I have.

Anyway, that's another subject. I would recommend you just get something like an used 2060 if you're on a budget. Best course of action for you.

That is because the RX 580 is not a very fast card, the X99 platform was released around the time the GTX 980 came out in 2014, and the RX 580 has more or less the same performance of the GTX 980. These cards are quite behind if you want to play the latest games.

My take, get your money back, buy a 2060 or even a 1660 Ti, and have fun.

i Will try and shell out the money but i always was a sucker for the fixer upper's but not really any more lol

But i really like to use old hardware because of affordability too..

I don't make alotta money.. hence the used and non working fixes lol

Hey guys!

I am now the proud owner of an RTX 3060 12GB I picked up from Ebay for $94 bucks! :D

the GPU automatically installs the drivers and everything and shows the Nvidia control panel just fine but here's when some sets in...

once the drivers are installed I have about 7 seconds until the picture goes black and freezes then unfreezes and goes back to picture.

I just want to know how and why it does that and how to fix it.

I have it disabled right now and installed.

Anyone have a clue why this happens??

Please I am really desperate to get this to work!

Thank you!

I am running a 1200 Watt PSU.
