rx580 wont show the bios

This is a common issue with non-UEFI graphics cards, when you update a modern motherboards BIOS to support windows 11 it forces UEFI mode on.

Modded BIOSes for older AMD cards (commonly used for mining) disabled UEFI.

There is a way to reimplement it

As a temporary workaround until this is solved, you could boot with the 1050, enable CSM on the board, then put the 580 back in to access BIOS.

Every Gigabyte rx 580 BIOS seems to be based on the same base rom, so any broken UEFI is going to present in all of them. Looking around on the forum, this seems to be an oddly common problem on the 580 cards.

UPDATE:

Here's that same BIOS with the latest compatible GOP driver inserted into the EFI. I have absolutely no way to test this, so make sure you have a method to recover if the flash goes bad. That said, the legacy portion of the bios wasn't modified, so it really shouldn't have any problems that don't already exist in the original.

Install team viewer and make it start on startup, if you have no image you can access your computer from your phone. (you should test it before flashing)

If it doesnt work you can flash your GPU with your older bios from your phone using team viewer, you can prepair everything on your desktop.

You bought an old GPU that has likely been modified by the seller, that's got nothing to do with AMD or Nvidia.

Edit: RX580 is from early 2017, there are no new RX580s out there. No one can tell you how good second hand hardware is except who you bought it from.


Theres a DIY updater for GOP here, that'll let you modify a BIOS that works and add UEFI support - i've got zero experience with it

Izy, that is an excellent idea. It had never occured to me to do that, but yes you could use teamviewer or anydesk and a phone or a second pc to remote it with the video not working.

Although because it only modified the uefi and not the legacy portion, I'm 99.99% certain it would, at worst, leave the card in the same condition it is in now where he can't access uefi bios.

Its your call if you want to risk it or not but you can test it before flashing , install everything then use your other computer or phone and see if you can handle it.
I used this method before and it worked fine for me but you have to be careful when you setting up teamviewer or what program you are using for remote , be sure they are starting on Windows startup and you can connect to your computer.
I also modified bios and updated GOP on some AMD cards before and never had a problem but as i said its your call to make.

I think we may have just hit on your issue. Someone has flash a hardware revision 1.0 BIOS to your card. Based on the rev F10 BIOS you were able to flash earlier in the thread without error, the existing bios you had was from a hardware revision 1.0 card, but your sticker clearly shows you have a revision 1.1 card.
