SAPPHIRE Technology - the world leading supplier of graphics solutions, mainboards and other PC products - has just announced the SAPPHIRE HD 6950 TOXIC Edition, the fastest production card in its class.

The SAPPHIRE HD 6950 TOXIC Edition ships with clock speeds of 880MHz for the core and 1300Mhz (5.2 Gb/sec effective) for the memory making it the fastest production HD 6950 on the market. This has been achieved by building the card on a high specification PCB with digital VRMs for excellent power regulation and 8 + 6 pin power connectors. It has a high performance cooler featuring a Vapor Chamber, blower fan and a new perforated backplate to increase airflow out of the system case.

Like the standard HD 6950, the SAPPHIRE HD 6950 TOXIC Edition boasts true DX 11 capability and the powerful configuration of 1408 stream processors and 88 texture processing units. A Dual BIOS feature allows enthusiasts to experiment with alternative BIOS profiles and settings. Performance can be further enhanced with SAPPHIRE TriXX - the company's dedicated overclocking tool which allows memory and core clock speeds and voltages to be modified and monitored and is available free to download.

With its two DVI, one HDMI and two mini-DisplayPort outputs, the SAPPHIRE HD 6950 TOXIC Edition supports a wide range of monitor configurations, including AMD Eyefinity with up to four screens.

The SAPPHIRE HD 6950 TOXIC Edition has the latest Gen3 on-board hardware UVD (Unified Video decoder), considerably reducing CPU load and delivering smooth decoding of Blu-ray and other video content for both VC-1 and H.264 codecs, as well as Mpeg files. The UVD can decode two 1080p HD video streams simultaneously and display HD video in high quality with Windows Aero mode enabled. The card has HDMI 1.4a which also supports Stereoscopic 3D output.

The SAPPHIRE HD 6950 family is supported by AMD's DirectX 11 WHQL certified graphics driver which delivers support for all of the key DirectX 11 level features required for new gaming experiences and acceleration of the latest generation of browsers, transcoding and other high performance applications (AMD APP acceleration).

I got the HD 6970 version of this card, cooler is noisy but that could just be my personal taste:toast: card is awesome looking ^_^

The cooler I meant:toast:

Man....they are slacking.

Didnt Toxic cards used to come with different coolers???

Now its just exactly the same card with thats factory overclocked. WITH THE SAME SHITTY COOLER, WITH THE SAME F**KING WARRANTY THAT VOIDS IF YOU WANT TO REPLACE IT OR REMOVE IT.

yeah it has nice cooler.the looks pretty sleek and solid

if this unlocks to 6970 version of it im gonna go lulz

And they know it, thing is cheaper is better and some people change there cards more often than the weather changes. And the cheaper makes the faster sale ?.

I do my self wounder what happened to the cooler but maybe thats their way to make sure less come back :P.

makes no sense to put it there from factory :wtf:

They did, but you weren't ever able to adjust the voltage through software. So the end results were the reference cards with stock coolers would overclock higher than the sweet Toxic with no voltage adjustment and a nice cooler. It's nice to see that for non-reference cards they have realized they need to add voltage adjustments.

Though the top of that cooler isn't quite reference, so who knows if it is underneath.

It wasn't possible up until they released the beta of TriXX.

My understanding is that it's just for Sapphire products obviously, but who cares...more options for voltage control gets a warm welcome from me anyday!

And here's the TPU thread in the Graphics Cards section: http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=133783

I wonder if they have replaced absolutelly shitty reference centrifugal fans with higher quality aftermarket ones. Pretty much all reference centrifugal fans on reference design cards died in under 1 year.

I just wanna know why it says Dual Cooling Fan on the box:confused:

What is the release date for this card?

is this any better as that new dirt 3 edition 6950 cooling ? which is only 210 euros in germany.

and the Gigabyte with the 3 cooling solution is also already clocked at the same 880 mhz on the GPU

I was looking at this as well, but I guess you can still claim to be the "fastest" if you tie with other cards.

Ah, what's that big round chrome thing with what looks like a screwdiver slot?
Looks like something that unscrews for a lithium coin battery...

Fastest? doesn't Powercolor released PCS++ with 1536 shaders at 880mhz as well?
and toxic version became kind of lame, just looks better than stock.

what i meant was, is the cooling better yes/no, how much more expensive will it be if the cooling is better?

not worried about the stock clock, doubt toxic has higher binned chips, those dirt edition cards clock above 900 on stock voltage so thats all i am after.

it design looks like assassin's creed
