I think heat transfers well because holy shit the backplate sits at 70C+ (which is why i ghetto cooled it) but i'm up for making this thing live longer

some of these pads are $50Au and above so getting the wrong size would be an oof - and 1mm seems to be rare locally, odd
Ugh, EK pads are like 1/4 the price of TG, and theres no arctic locally. choosing is hard yo.

Buying a full Waterblock comes with 1mm so i assume it's the same for the back and front.

arctics cheap enough on amazon, i'll grab an overkill amount and use any leftovers on my other GPUs as needed (in all the years, i've NEVER replaced a thermal pad with a new one - just paste. time to fix that)

I paid for 145x145mm 1mm 15€

$58 for two of those sheets shipped here - would have been $100 or more for a single sheet of the other brands in 1mm

i'll just slap both sheets whole on top of the GPU, it'll be fine

GPU mid 50's @ 270w load, memory tops in the mid 80's gaming, high 90's mining... I would very much consider better/more thermal pads too, not sure what thickness/brand to buy though.

technically they are saying " use of third party power dongles" and not "use of third party power cable".
If it's coming from a shady vendor from wish or aliexpress it's a fair concern, but Corsair and seasonic also made cables 12 pins cable for their power supply. IMO if Nvidia doesn't like that's, it's basically saying that people doing power supply, don't know how to do their jobs.

NVIDIA are just covering their asses, considering the 12-pin connector has been developed in-house by them.
I must say, I actually like the little connector. If not for the stupid central placement of the connector, it'd also have been a hit in reviews.

Tbh, that's not stupid placement, it's where the PCB ends. It would have been really hard to put the connector at the end of the board.
But it is awkward placement, that's for sure.

I eyeballed the thermal pads in the 3080 Ventus. Took a paper and measured the thermal pads and referenced it with the only ruler I had. It came to about 3mm in paper. So I bought the 3mm Gelid. Turns out I bought the wrong size. The front size was around 2.8-2.5mm. The Gelid pads are stiff and hard to squish but a I managed to squish it by hand to make it fit.

I can tell it is working though. The main heatsink shares cooling for the core and memory and the core was getting hotter when I mined. (I checked the heatsink contact with the core and changed thermal paste between application)

There's limited reviews out there about it but I can say these works great. Downside is it is expensive costing around $15 and was just enough to cover the front chips.

The "graphene" backplate already had thermal pads and they get hot too. The problem is since there's no fins or anything they just basically act as a heat soak. A flow-through design cooler connecting the backplate and the main heatsink is ideal for cards with GDDR6X.

You still have hope... Ask these guys to design a cooler for you.
That thing is enormous, but can keep a 300W Threadripper at 60C(at least LTT says so)
