Patches and gums are a total BS. Vaping is too. The only way to quit smoking (imo) is with sheer determination. Trust me, I've done it many times. :D
Some like you and my dad have better anger management skills then me.

I do a 45min commute one way it was hard at first, people are Dick's (2nd and 3rd lane mouchers) at times and they make me rage, or did.

I don't know... my anger management usually involves letting go of my steam as soon as it starts building up. My boss keeps telling me to go through the proper channels, but it's not my fault that the proper channels are too slow, is it? People think I'm an asshole for being overly direct. I think they're assholes for not listening to me. So basically, we're even.

Anyway... how much do you smoke? The more you do, the harder it is to quit. The first 3-4 days are the hardest, it gets better afterwards.

I've decided before the age of 40 I want to burn through most of my savings traveling and seeing England/Ireland/Spain. My list of medical issues is 3 pages long now, seems like every year new items get added to the list. I don't expect I will live past 50 at this rate, especially since arthritis is already a problem in my spinal cord since age 26, it's only going to exponentially get more painful. So, the question left is how do I spend my remaining years? I'm going to do it, I am going to see all of Cornwall this year before its too late for me. Cornwall is the most beautiful place on Earth imo.

I don't smoke or drink, and you guys are the ones with no medical issues, makes no sense to me, but thats life lol

If you like Cornwall, then try North Wales or the Scottish Highlands. They're even more beautiful!
I'm glad you decided to live your life to the fullest, regardless of your issues. Sacrificing your life just to save is pointless. Stay positive, man! :toast:

I don't smoke or drink, and you guys are the ones with no medical issues, makes no sense to me, but thats life lol
Well, I still can't hear a thing because of my ear infection. The doctor just gave me a note for next week as well, so I'm gonna be here, spreading my bullshit on the forum! :D

Anyway, I know what you mean. Health is just a game of lottery, unfortunately. You never know what you get, regardless of your destructive habits, or the lack thereof. One should always live in a way that if you die tomorrow, you can still say that you've had a happy life and you've done everything you could for yourself and your loved ones. This is the only way I've found myself mentally healthy. Every other way drives me mad.

Edit: I say this because I'll never forget when my grandma died. I'd been wanting to call her for weeks to ask how she was doing, but kept putting it off. She was 100% healthy, and I was in the early phases of seeing a girl, so I thought it could wait... until it couldn't and my mom called me that she died. I'll always regret not calling her while I still had the chance.

Edit 2: My philosophy for life is that you'll stop regretting the bad things that you did after some time, but you'll always regret the good things that you didn't do.

In part I agree because there is no real substitution for determination but each person is different, and for some of them there can be easier ways. I smoked for more than 40 years (I started aged 13), I went the vape route 9 years ago, not smoked since then but for the last 3 years I have been vape free too.

@Space Lynx You would be amazed how many "ailments" can be hereditary, even skipping generations.

Speaking of medicinal herbal products... do you smoke for the nicotine rush, or just out of habit? If the latter, you might want to try something like Honeyrose (link). They're completely tobacco and nicotine free cigarettes, they taste nice and don't make your clothes and hand smell bad. They're a bit expensive, but so are normal cigarettes, I guess.

I only vape now occasionally and always for relaxation, I've lost the hand to mouth boredom issue now(4th month of quitage, I'm hardly using gum too),
But thanks for the heads-up, should I fail in the future I'll try and fail wiser.

Hey Anglais!

How are your access rights? I was just checking up on the Scottish right to roam, and it's awesome. Effectively, in Scotland, you have the right to walk anywhere. There are exceptions, such as a private gardens; but it has to be a private garden, not some loophole. There are no private premises, as such, and access is still allowed (no tresspass law in Scotland). The land is ours to roam. Exceptions exist for fields of crops and the like, but otherwise, I can go and walk through the Balmoral estate. As a point in fact, this is a public bothy beside a house privately owned by the Royal family (the house Victoria bought when Albert died):

One thing to love about Scotland that I never truly appreciated. I think it means I can fight twats that say - you can't be here! :nutkick:

A shed, hut, any old building which (has been designated as a bothy) can be used by hikers or climbers to rest. It's a very Scottish thing. And surprisingly safe.

I doubt that would pan out down south it would be turned into an impromptu rave hut on occasion, shame really, as it's a good idea.

This is a good description.

Ahhhghhhh, we have subways motorway tunnels and shop fronts for this, camping without the tent, I jest(jk)
, I can't think of a place better suited then in the countryside

I was very into this 12/17, IE years ago, every Saturday I slept under the star's with a load of mate's, obviously getting drunk if possible.

Strangely the girls of our group never did sign up for this:p they were not daft , there were many amazing comedy moments and many more near death experiences mostly trying to get a fire going with bean cans of petrol, a Real Youth, seams semi criminal in this era now, where were the parents I Had a face that wouldn't lie and was just staying at a friend's obviously, ahhh pre phone days too, joy, in a way.

Anyone know how to buy a bus pass for a month between two cities? I can't seem to figure it out. Or do you just have to pay daily? I want to go from Exeter to a nearby town every day on the bus, or at least M-F, is there a bus pass I can buy that gives a monthly discount for paying for the whole month up front? Do I just ask the bus driver on the first time I pay?

Any advice welcome, never paid for a month bus pass before, I know Ireland has them, not sure if England does.

When I used to ride the bus to work circa 2016, I just asked the driver for a pass. My logic dictates that there should be a more convenient way in this day and age, although I haven't found one, yet.

Edit: Unfortunately, the fact that there's a multitude of bus and train companies out there that you need to be aware of (even though train tickets are generally usable everywhere) doesn't help, either.

Sorry been away for a week on a fishing trip to Cornwall, you can get passes on the bus from the driver but they will be a little more expensive than downloading and using their app, take a look here and see if it helps ..............

not yet, but soon I hope. Aiming for May through early August, then its back to work in America. in mid-August

also, it was sunny like 90% of the time I was there last year, people were going crazy about how they didn't even need to go to Spain this year, made me laugh. I guess that weather has its downsides too though, if I remember the news headlines right they were starting to worry about droughts even... which is not a word I'd ever thought I'd hear in England. strange times indeed

We have only had 25% of of our normal winter rain so if we have a warm spring followed by a hot summer there won't be much water left, if so it will have to be whiskey I'm afraid :)

A shed, hut, any old building which (has been designated as a bothy) can be used by hikers or climbers to rest. It's a very Scottish thing. And surprisingly safe.
If we were in Auz I’m sure they’d say brothel ;)

Stateside, where I'm at, we've had the exact opposite. Near 3x the normal snow and rain.
Just got another foot of snow here. Snowbank was like week old oatmeal this morning.
