I was once asked to look for a good laptop, price, features, etc.
After looking around I recommended a Toshiba.
It was used lightly for a couple of years. Then it died.
I was heavily blamed for recommending it.
Looking around the web, I found out what seemed to be an engineering defect.
Capacitors that couldn't handle the temperature were placed where heat was higher than their rated spec, leading to failure.
Toshiba never bothered to recall the product, nor offered free repairs.
It was sold in the Asia-Pacific region, where consumer laws aren't taken seriously.
