This needs to be Stickied or Pinned somewhere on TPU. Too bad there's not a Retro subsection instead of just this huge thread.

I'm going to copy and paste this in the original post. I'll probably put some kind of spoiler with it. Just so it doesn't take up a ton of space.
I'll delete the pictures, as that isn't really relevant to the links and explanations within the post. :toast:

And, done!

I put it at the top of the original post so it's easy to find and see.

Hope that's alright with you @QuietBob :respect: :respect: :respect:

Thanks! :)
Perhaps some more retro geeks will now benefit from this info.

BTW, could I ask you to replace my other link in the original post? The one about browsers for Windows XP. I see the site has been reorganized and the content moved.

Retro Windows Wiki (by the same author) has a lot of technical tips on bringing legacy systems up to speed.

Took a break from the BE6-II and BP6 for a while, and up next was the IS7-E.

I have the same board with 1.01 version. Board does not boot with Pentium MMX at easy jumper stalls after memory count. Does not even recognise the cpu with manual mode. No problems with normal Pentium 120 and 150. Whats your opinion?

EVGA GTX 560 TI 2Win "GTX585"

Seems to be a pretty rare card. I got it cheap because someone listed it as a normal 1gb 560ti.

Apparently tested to POST and display in the system BIOS but no further testing was performed. I will have to test myself.

A few of the screw points in the plastic shroud are broken off. The center fan is only held in with 1 screw right now and the shroud is only held in by 2 screws remaining. Will work on fixing this.

As space starts to be a bit of an issue, I have to unfortunately sell a few boards. Hence why I began prepping a old Zida 6DLX I had around.

Allright. More testing done with the Zida 6DLX/Celeron 433 combo.

For whatever reason, most games run fine - Tank Racer, Neighbours From Hell, Abe's Exoddus, Abe's Oddysee, Chicken Invaders 2, all run fine.

Midtown Madness 2 is a pain to watch through tho.

Any ideas what can I do to improve the performance on Midtown Madness 2? I tried almost any type of Geforce 2 and GF4 MX - all struggle.
I'm thinking of switching to an ATI card but I'd rather await your answers.

I played Midtown Madness 2 on my GeForce2 Ti without any problem on 1280x1024, though that was on Athlon 1800+ or 2500+. Looks like you'll need a faster processor for that one.

Edit: of course - you do need the geforce patch for it, but all files oddly enough have build number 1.00.3200...

That's funny, given the recommended specs point to a 266MHz Pentium II.

I'll test a K6-2+ 500 and see how it fares there. I'm suspecting a driver issue here more than anything (I had to patch MM2 due to using a nVidia card - before that, the whole game was a graphical mess.) but I wanna be sure before doing that.

Tested the 560ti 2win. It will boot into windows but frequently crashes to a black screen and fans ramp to 100%

New upload from Phil :)

I still have my 2nd hand X6800. Fun CPU to play with. It easily runs 4.0GHz, much like my E6600 at 3.6GHz.

To be honest, I never had any other E6xx0 chips than an E6400, which was a beast, ran that stable at 3.4GHz 24/7 :)

Tried with another system? That's the 560 Ti x2?

I truly hope that it's not dead :/
Will test it in another older machine when I can. Really hoping it works but I'm not holding my breath. Yes it is a 560ti x2.

This GPU had a couple of caps knocked loose on the board and I reflowed them today which didn't change anything.

I paid 80€ for it. I checked ebay and the prices were higher than what I paid locally for it.

I guess it's a fair price these days. Still hate that I sold that my V2, I could've sold it to you with a reasonable price..

Well, I sold it and no can do. Any tweaking in mind for the Voodoo?

What kind of tweaking do you mean? I have no plans.
