TPU's Nostalgic Hardware Club

That would be the chipset limitation if I remember right... (P4M800 Pro, the bane of my existence...) - I would ditch DDR2 and go with a 865 based 775 mobo depending on the CPU used - if C2D/C2Q is your plan, ConRoe865PE or 775i65G rev 2 and 3 would be suited. If instead you plan on using a Cedar Mill/Presler CPU, look for about any retail mobo w/ 865PE that sports a 775 socket. (there are plenty of choices from what I can see - there's even a DFI Lanparty flavor in that regard)
So far it supports the c2d that I'm using (e4500) and that will already be an overpowered CPU for what I want to get done, which is AGP GPU's up to 2003/4 at the most. But I'm always open to a board that is going to take a broader range (newer, not so much older like this one), and retains AGP.

In that case, as lomg as you're comfortable using DDR1 to achieve dual channel, an ASRock 775i65G R2.0 (or Rev 2.03 if you will) would suit better - AGP, supports up to Kentsfield quads, is small form factor, and runs on Intel chipset, which is far more compatible (and stable) than VIA.

I'll take a look at that mobo cheers! Dual channel isn't strictly a necessity, I know it hampers performance but I'm not sure how much of a issue that will really be with the GPU's and games I plan to run, the CPU is already significantly more powerful than what was available in 2004. Stability however would be an excellent reason lol

Edit: one for sale and it's 300 AUD! might see how this board treats me for a while longer lol.

I think this is old enough to fit here.
Powercolor Devil13 R9 290X (x2) 8GB

It works but it will not display out of one DVI once the driver loads, so I believe one core is dying sadly.

It could just be an odd reflection, but something seems off in the circled area.

Nice that some non-K chips can be overclocked, pushed my i5-3470 to 4.3GHz :) 40x all-core multi with 107.5 bus.

A few of the stuff I'll be working on while waiting for the VP6s and Micronics DX4 to clear customs.

- Athlon XP-M 2400

-eVGA Geforce 8600GT 256MB DDR3 - prolly gonna test it further with a Prescott on the P4Dual-915GL, assuming I can rig up a DIY cooling solution for the Prescott.

- ASUS AH3450 - Radeon HD3450 AGP. IIRC it's the 512MB versiom although I recall there being a 1GB version as well... idk.

- ASUS EAX1950XTX - Radeon X1950XTX. Works but gets hotter than the sun after a few hours, and that's with fresh Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut.

Modified the BIOS on my Soltek 75FRN2-RL to reflect the CPU used :)

The other candidate for this is my MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR with a mobile 2400.

Thanks @TASOS for the linked guide!

GeForce 7950GX2 1G

Can you believe I found one of those on our verge side collections mated to a Core 2 Duo and a P5W DH deluxe.

I gave them all away

almost there with all the nvidia dual GPU gaming cards now.

Whats left??

Also, retro rig 2 electric boogaloo. Much more details to come, but suffice to say it's fun to be back on AGP!

Ah, the classic Blue Orb. They used it on 9000 series Radeons, I remember having one on 9500 Pro which I had. :)

technically a 7900GX2, but I'll happily excuse myself of that one unless it lands in my lap as I have the 7950GX2 now, and the mighty Titan Z, which I genuinely want so I can build an ultimate single card SLI rig and replace the 690 that's currently in it.

How about those manufacturers' own dual-GPU cards, like Gigabyte GV-3D1 (dual 6600 GT), Asus 7800 GT dual etc.?

Definitely, I always wanted a MARS, and there are a few cool other ones along the way, plus that's not even mentioning ATI/AMD, I only have the 5970 so far and want to beef up that collection too. It's definitely a specific goal to get that Titan Z to have all generations of Nvidia 'first party/founders' type dual GPU cards though :)

i guess i should post my latest addiction .... because it's nostalgic enough albeit being new produced stuff ...

well already posted it on the purchase thread ... but it give me a reason to post here and refresh my notifications ;) awesome stuff @MaxiPro800 and @wolf

I've only had the 3870X2 and that was back in 2009, cost like 125EUR new. Sucks that I sold it and got a 4890.

Yeah, I haven't seen too many around with their original retail boxes which is what I've been keeping an eye out for.

I used to run xfire 4890's back in the day. Thought they were nice cards. I was bios flashing them to try and run 1Ghz on them :)
