I'd check the framerate and disk health. Maybe you got a lemon...
They checked the disk health and accounted for at least half of the results that were reported. There is an under-estimate occurring being compared with an over-estimate.

It's all accounted for in my opinion.

Probably nothing to be concerned at. Unless you're a nutcase who likes to hammer the drive constantly, you'll hardly ever encounter a problem. Took me somewhere around 4 years to write enough data to a 128GB Sandisk X300 (~60 TBW) before it kicked the bucket.
Well I don't even know how to achieve this.I've never had a dead drive before because of constant use. It's just me and my own ''regular'' use of the drive like installing games and OS etc.I did nothing so special in order to achieve something like 2% in 2 weeks

What a waste of an RMA.

Wrote 6 TB to a 1 TB drive in 5 days....
2.8TB written , for 2 weeks (6 days NVME on or 150 hours power on) How is that a ''waste of an RMA'' ? Can you elaborate on this ? I mean , if you are not using it for writing and reading games on it , why would you buy it at all ?Isn't that the purpose of the disk drive ?

Oh, sorry. I swapped 6 TB and 3 TB.

Point remains.

It is a waste of an RMA because you already accounted for the results you see.

I'm just repeating myself. I wrote already:
"If excessive use is nothing, then yes, for nothing.

You already accounted for around 1% with your own basic math. Plus it is an os drive. Plus you did tests which you didn't include in your original math. Plus "2%" is rounded.

Seems like the result is as expected."

If you want to waste the RMA department's time with an illegitimate RMA, go for it. If your use doesn't change, you are going to be right back here with the same 'issue'.

How could I ''change my use'' of the drive when I need to install the games and the OS I bought it for ? I mean , it shouldn't be an ''issue'' with a normal drive reporting normal number under the use I am putting it on... In case you misunderstood something , I am not gonna install and uninstall large games everyday.I installed them once so I can play them along with my OS on it , and I uninstalled couple of them in order to prevent the drive from ''destroying itself''.It's that simple.I didn't saw anyone complaining for this much of job on the drive to loose so fast that much %. That's why I am concerned. It wouldn't be an ''illegitimate RMA'' as soon there is a problem with the drive as it seems to be.I don't plan to install anything soon , just normal windows use and playing games , I hope there is no further decrease in health ... but who knows , I'll keep monitoring it in the next couple of days/weeks.Hope it's from normal wearing out and not some deffect on the drive out of the box

As you mentioned HDD , I have one from 5 years ago , written so much on it , and it's still 97% remaining life. Also my previous OS disk is verbatim 512gb and re-wrote at least 15 windows on it+ the thousands of games - still 88% :peace: But this one drained 2% for nothing ...
This one drained 2% and may very well stay there for months, or years, too.

Like others have said, watch it over time, don't fuss too much about it - the drive's within warranty and its verifiable how much you've written on it/done with it, so if it keeps dropping and you one day within the first year of usage, open SMART and it says 50%, you know you can just return it for a new one.

I'm not quite buying the idea that if you have written 3TB now on a 1TB disk it has been 'stressed immensely' and 'thus loses %'. You can write a metric shit ton even on QLC and they still all surpass their life expectancy. It just dropped from 100%. Whether it did that with 0,1, or 2%, isn't quite so relevant just yet.

For reference
Crucial BX100, bottom barrel quality drive, in use 5 years +, but storage only- 100%

1728150876734.png

Samsung EVO 850 1TB, used as OS drive for about 3 years - 98%

1728150972665.png

Samsung 980 NVME 1TB - 99%, has been OS drive for about a year.

1728151049882.png

Lexar NM790 4TB - 100%, is now OS drive for about 3 months and currently gets all the abuse in my new system (I also install most games on it)

1728151148442.png

So yeah... what to think of 98%? You tell me... :p

I've also STILL got a Samsung 830 (one of the early SSDs... 7-8 years old now?) 512GB and it has always and still serves as an OS disk, and it still purrs along happily in another system.

Thank you for clarifying me in a simple words ! I hope it stays at 98% for months at least and it could be like ~98.99% right now.If my memory don't play on me , the Verbatim SSD that I have acted just like that - dropped ~3-4 % in the first couple of days/weeks or a month , then It stopped and then again started decreasing health but slowly. For a year+ it's 88% health right now.But it's reasonable health considering the usage I putted it under, even I don't need to calculate it to consider that -12% of disk health answers to my ''use'' back then in the time.

No idea. But what you can see up there is that varying drives in varying use cases lose drive health in the 1-2% range even over prolonged periods of time. OS drives lose health faster and with much greater certainty. The Samsung 830 I had has remained at 100% for quite a long time, I do remember that, because I monitored it a lot since SSDs were new back then. But, different drive, very different memory inside, different controller...

I think its strongly connected to the hardware under the hood, the drive health behaviour, and that combined with your type of usage just introduces a huge amount of 'random' in the numbers.

Consider the fact that 100% is considered 'pristine, spotless, perfect - no wear'. How do you quantify the first signs of wear on ANY product? Is that a 98% product? Its almost impossible to tell. Somebody put it in a box at some point, perhaps even ran some quality control on it...

It's just slow bad... MX are perfect, BX are baddest
The read is faster on the mx but write is on the bx.

They checked the disk health and accounted for at least half of the results that were reported. There is an under-estimate occurring being compared with an over-estimate.

It's all accounted for in my opinion.
Also I wouldn't buy an SSD of that brand, I don't trust them. I have a Samsung 990 Pro w/ Heatsink and also a Seagate FireCuda 530 w/ Heatsink and love them!

I have to agree with this. SSDs are not so expensive that you can't stick to a reputable brand like Kioxia, Micron, Samsung, SK Hynix, and Western Digital. Basically all the SSD companies that make their own NAND. I expect them to have the most reliable products as a general rule of thumb.

Also, stick to SSDs that have DRAM, they have higher consistency, better write performance, and less write amplification. I also avoid QLC drives, they may be fine for most people but I like having a large safety buffer when it comes to my data usage.

So far my 2TB Samsung 980 Pro has had 6 TB written over 2 years and still at 99% endurance rating. This despite abusing the drive by filling it up to 80% twice and then emptying it out again as I transferred data to a secondary SSD. I even run Defraggler on specific heavily fragmented files, the endurance has been fine.

Black Friday is a great time to buy higher-end SSDs.

Isnt the bx just a business system model anyway
I’m pretty sure also the BX500 doesn’t have any dram, which the MX500 does, so the BX is not going to last as long. Also from personal experience, large file reads and especially writes are considerably longer. I have my libraries on a 1TB BX and am seriously considering going back to a 1TB Velociraptor (edit: for my Libraries). It would last a lot longer as well.

BX is like the SSD found in Atom cheap 10" Laptop that dies fast (can't rem name), as their batterie melts.

Me happy to have a 500gb btw, i use it for just watch movies copied from my HDD's library... don't expect to be happy when the file is 10-40gb, but BD-Rip between 4-7gb that's OKay, if more just be patient (LOL).

MX is likely perfect's SSD, BX is an scam bc price is verry near MX (45-55 ... 85-100 bucks) for at least 700 difference in quality overhaul.

QLC is good price when used/need backups, or not write often just read, prices of SSD overauls higher and higher recently, i've been lucky to buy just before my QVO (400) and NH600 8tb NVMe (800) now price quitly doublmed in few month.

Can you get an RMA ? Honestly get another brand of SSD like Samsung, Seagate or Crucial.
The 990 Pro, FireCuda 530 and SN850X are the best SSDs imo.

I have 2 BX in my system and not an issue at all. They are actually the coolest drives in my array.

Yes I can , it's just 2 weeks old with 2-3 years warranty. Right now I'm gonna fill up my documents for RMA
