Playing Dishonored on my Steam deck this morning as I wait for work to start. Damn, its not as pretty as my desktop setup, nor is aiming as nice as on mouse, but there is just something about being cozy as fuck in bed and playing it that gets me hooked and lost in the story.

Steam Deck has literally got me playing more games than I ever played in my entire life, I am actually getting far into Dishonored already.

Try this when you switch to your Desktop PC, not sure Deck will handle the textures :

And how does that work?
Should work just fine with the right CPU/GPU combo. Believe it or not, RAM bandwidth is not a seriously limiting factor with most games, including No Man's Sky.

it's a Phenom 1100T/Vega 56 Nano on DDR2 motherboard.
And there you go! That's a nice setup. That CPU is about the best you can do for a DDR2 based board. How much RAM do you have with that system?

Kingdom Come: Deliverance. It's my second try.

At first try, I couldn't get into the game because of the weird combat system. Now, as an ex- medieval reenactor, I'm starting to realise that the moves I have to do with the mouse are the same moves I'd have to do with a sword in real life, which is genius! Hand-to-hand combat still isn't my forte, though. Luckily, I'm also starting to realise that you don't have to win every fight in this game, just like you don't always win in real life, either, which is also genius!

Other than that, I absolutely love the atmosphere! In my last session, I only took a walk around the village I'm currently based in. No quests, no fights, just enjoying the scenery and music. Absolute delight! o_O

I don't know why I couldn't like the game on my first try. It's slowly becoming my second favourite (after the Witcher series) now.

For some reason I'm still yet to try that game out, its sitting in my EPIC library ever since they gave it out for free.
Tho knowing myself it would be a tad bit too difficult for my generic gameplay style.

Dishonored always feels like an underrated game to me, personally I loved the first game and I have the second in my backlog for a while now. 'I should really play it while I have gamepass active and its there..'

I might finish Serious Sam 4 in a few days then I can pick up something else to play.

Damn it now I want a Deck too.

Now that is interesting. How well does it work? Also, we get like a million remakes of games that still look good, but not this? :(
Yeah this remake is looooong overdue. Instead we got Civ Beyond Earth... lol
I don't get it either, Alpha Centauri has so much potential

You've climbed the steep early learning curve, well done! Game is amazing if you get 'down to earth' and immerse yourself in the mud and hardships of normal life. Its great for not making you the superhero. You cán get pretty strong though. It just takes quite a while.

Yeah, that was what I was after. I would have thought a C2Q/Xeon system, I forgot about the Phenom DDR2 boards...

Back to High on Life after a long while..still need to save earth and watch shitty movies. Edit: And done! I sliced the nipple of Nipulon, and ass-killed Garmantuous.

I also started with We Happy Few, a game I bought in early access but never really played. And lastly a bit of rock crawling in BeamNG.

I'm back with Sniper Elite 5 on Game Pass because I really should justify the monthly cost. Besides, it's an excellent game, looks fantastic and it's always satisfying to slot a Nazi.
Getting to ruin Hitler's day however, means paying for a DLC, so I'll pass on that until I actually own the game because it's got great replay potential, just like the other Sniper Elite games and Days Gone.

I finally took Beyond Earth off my wishlist a couple months ago. I had listed it before launch, waited for it to get better reviews... and it never did. I'll probably grab it when they drop the price to $5, or if it shows up in a Humble Monthly or something.

The biggest roadblock to an Alpha Centauri reboot/sequel is that EA owns the IP. I don't think anybody wants EA to try their hand at a science-fiction 4X game, so the game would somehow have to fall into Firaxis' lap. Would they even be interested in returning to Planet 25 years later? Brian Reynolds did most of the heavy lifting during the development, but he's the CEO now; how much would he want to get involved? Would they be able to recapture the magic of the flavor text? Improve the midgame doldrums? Design a planet that's actually round, and not a Cylinder In Space?

I want to go back and finish that game too, I had a good time playing it and watching full length shitty movies lol.

I can't STOP playing Dead Cells over and over again though lol. I'm somewhere around 180 hours into playing the game and it just makes me come back over and over again every single time I try to play something else lol. Besides that I've been playing Cyberpunk with the new path tracing update, and The Last of Us (for the 4729478th time lol).

Just finished The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog, SEGA's free April Fools' surprise. This is a cute little visual novel with Sonic-style arcade segments. Drawing inspiration from the classic Agatha Christie's novel, it's a murder mystery that takes place on a train:

1.jpg2.jpg3.jpg

Even though the game is linear and meant for casual players, the later arcade sections are a true test of skill. Luckily, their difficulty can be adjusted:

4.jpg5.jpg

With continual hand-holding the gameplay gets a bit repetitive, but it has some surprises to keep pace. Overall, it was a pleasant experience with a few laughs. The narrative is well written, and the music is great with some familiar 16-bit tunes.

I've been playing it (whenever Dead Cells will allow me to lol) again as well and it's so gorgeous looking. I play at 2560x1440 res with an RTX 4090 and 7800x3D (had a 7700x until the 3D version launch).

Without any performance enhancements it averaged at 41fps (31 min, 52 max) which is about 100 less than I usually play stuff on haha. I enabled DLAA and frame generation and it runs at 71fps (min 57, max 89) which is much more playable. It will run at 117fps (min 99, max 140 with control panel limited at 141fps) which is much more like normal for me but I think DLSS on 2k resolution is just low enough that I prefer running without it, so I deal with the 71fps without it. I didn't mind it as much when it was just 'normal' psycho RTX settings. Weird.

It's so beautiful that I don't even care about the lower fps.

Of the two free games on Epic currently this one appears to be the more enjoyable. Not only that, it is a finished game unlike Beyond Blue which has seemingly pointless interest objects that exist in large enough numbers to confuse looking at something you need to access with the same button/keybind.

Can't remember the last side scroller I enjoyed before this one. They typically either seem overcomplicated (X controller button has 30 functions dependent upon environmental element in your path or puzzles are too numerous and contrived to have any fun) or my fingers give out from mashing buttons constantly. This trend towards bleak spartan environments with little feedback or background actually works really well for a frozen wasteland undergoing a severe blizzard limiting visibility.

Cyberpunk 2077. I brought it for cheap as a bit of a benchmark for the rig (runs beautifully without RT by the way) and ended up being shocked at how GOOD it is. I was totally engrossed in the story from start to finish, even shed some tears at the ending I got! I only wish there was some dynamic content (random missions, battles etc) to extend the play time is all. But I'm playing a new save with intent to get the other endings and am really enjoying myself.

It truly is an amazing game to experience. I played it at launch and didn't want it to end. I also shed a tear when I got the ending. I'm enjoying another playthrough now, and with the new lighting it really does feel like a different game haha.

looking at mixture of medium high settings with patch tracing and ray tracing enabled with dlss set to balanced (40fps) very playable
40fps = playable? Sure maybe. But frame-rate is life. Playing at a lower res with lower settings is ALWAYS better than a lower frame-rate. In my book, sub60fps is unacceptable.

It's interesting that you were missing the random missions and battles. I'm on the exact opposite opinion: I think there were too many random gang fights that made the game map convoluted and hard to navigate. Not to mention I had no interest in them at all - I just wanted to play the story which really keeps you engaged. I would have loved to see more of it. The game certainly isn't even half as bad as some critics would say. :)
