@jormungand shadow of war and shadow of mordor are a couple of classics for me now. i love them. tomb raider 2013 trilogy reboot is also part of my new classics collection.

its unfortunately a very small list, there are more on it, but yeah

I haven't played it yet, but I replayed the original AC earlier this year and loved it as much as the other 4x I beat it. holds up well, and as long as you have 1440p or better monitor, and run it at native resolution - it looks damn good too. its wild to me how old games can look amazing as long as you run them at higher ppi

I'm still playing Dawntrail. Just skipping the story and focusing on my Paladin. Had this Paladin since original launch date and I want to hit level 100 with it before I quit, just for nostalgia sake.
i started Shadow of War and got hooked right away. it has that batman fight mechanics, the story telling is good and its just fun to play.

I like it better than Batman because you have the talent tree, I never finished the Batman games, maybe I am wrong and they had one too? I like having that path of choosing how I want combat to develop with a talent tree.

Ok so started playing Sunless Skies again, and it's ... not right. I defeated a marauder and the scavange option gave me an event that gave me a crazy captain that had survived alone for a long time. I visited a settlement, didn't have the required goods and left, that option saying something like "Leave swiftly, people here don't like strangers" but the terror got reduced, for some reason? And I don't know at all how my gun is supposed to work, out of combat I can fire it, but in combat I can mostly not fire it. When I fire it partly filled bar appears at the screen and when it goes to zero I think I'm supposed to be able to fire but I still can't? And instead of music there's mostly ambient sounds. Instead of the message ticker at the bottom left the messeges are left on the game screen, and I just now saw two of them repeat at different places, and they're not the ones about the specific location, but the because they are displayed on the screen, in the world in which you are travelling, they look like location-specific messegas even though they are not.

Oh ok I just realized I have to have the mouse pointer in the same direction as the enemy even though the ship can only fire forward. I'm playing on a laptop, that just made the game unplayable.

I'm currently hopping between Forza Horizon 4 and 5, with Fortune Island on 4 being a real scream, not to mention Hot Wheels on 5 being massive and at times, vertigo-inducing.
I'm also hoping that Forza Horizon 6 will be set in the USA.

I recently bought Songs of Syx from the Steam Summer sale since it was recommended for people who like Factorio. It's a fairly fun game that's a mix of Lords of the Realm and Sim City.

I've also been going over my back log too. Atom RPG was too boring. The "Fallout in Russia" comparisons end at the UI. I was wondering around for hours starving and only had 1 bullet and gave up when 3 dogs killed me.

Creatures is still fun. I got that running on PCem. I played that as a kid in the 90's. I don't think my parents were paying much attention at the time because of the almost "adult" thematic elements.

Tried out the demo, it's... pretty good, but not quite IT for me. I'm more curious about Prodeus and Supplice personally. Then again, I just found out about PK Reloaded mod 4.2 and canNOT miss that one, given PK is the game I played more less on and on, one way or another, for 2 decades...

Rn, getting my feet wet in Natuski Chronicles. Pulled the trigger on 1 Euro deal. It's a side-scroller shmup with a lot of bullet hell, but also a lot of rough edges clearly polished - it does good job telegraphing stuff, so while hard, it doesn't feel unfair. Still, pretty brutal stuff there. Those ranks are from normal, and needless to say, nowhere near first tries. If you like shmups and are not daunted by high difficulty, I say give it a shot. Worst comes to worst, can refund. I might just clock in enough hours to not be eligible anymore, and that in itself is a seal of approval already.
I personally could not stand those telegraphing red lines to show where the bullets will go. It confused me, or just made the screen look too cluttered in my opinion. Luckily they have many options that can be toggled, that being one of them. I do like the telegraphing icons for enemies entering off screen though! What I liked about this game is the bit that your ship (technically shield) can still get stronger even if you die, so with enough persistence you can likely beat any level.if you haven't done so yet, 15 extra shield hits is the max you can get for any stage before you're stuck with just the basic regenerating 3 shield version

Ironically the hardest level in the game is training mission #2 (advanced training). I beat lots of levels even on extreme, but this training mission, cannot beat it on hard even lol. this will prevent me from getting 100% achievements in this game, but I will be able to get every other one. sucks when that one ridiculous achievement exists, I want my pretty looking ribbon lol

and believe me, I had to play for a while to learn the patterns to beat the harder difficulties/stages. I got 28 hours clocked in now but have only beat Arcade mode on Normal a couple times. I can prolly get through Arcade on Hard, but def not Extreme

Finished Streets of Rage 4 (on Switch)
I had a lot of hesitation before buying the game ... would it plays like the olders one ? As fun ?
And ... yes, the dev's made a good job replicating the old gameplay.
Basically is the same old SOR formula with better design.
Enjoyed my time, finished with Axel, and reding it with Adam, sometimes the new one and sometimes the SOR 1 character.
The game is not that hard (in normal mode) because how it plays : when you start a level, you have 2 lives to begin with (can gain more with scoring), and when you finished it even with no lives rest, the next level starts again with 2 lives. It's a clever idea !
Of course there is the Arcade mode, with 1 credit.
The only negative side (call me grumpy old school gamer) is the graphic, even super nice, I miss the old pixels ...
And the music, it's not as good as the olders ones, on my second time I'm playing only with the old school music (a great idea : a mix of Game Gear and Megadrive/Gensisi tunes).
It's a solid game very fun, even better on sale !

This image was a dream in 1991 ... And it's now a reality !

If you've played the originals game back then, you'll find some old well known faces

View attachment 352447
Of course, play it with friends and double the fun !

Man Streets of Rage 2 is one of the best games I ever had played as a youngin'. When I bought Streets of Rage 4 I was thinking it was likely going to be about two play throughs and a few more random playthroughs for maybe 20 to 25 hours tops as a nostalgia ride......

Almost 215 hours later.....lol. Yea I feel like I got my monies worth. Bought it on release day and have loved it since.

They did basically nerf the difficulties. Basically everything is down one notch, ie Normal is more like Easy, and Hard is more like Normal and so on. But at least they went crazy and eventually went up to Mania+ which I can only get to Stage 10 on, I'm stuck there on that difficulty.

Same for me. Just like the AC games, I get half way through HZD and I get bored and quit. Never to be played again.
Yeah the trick's overdone at this point and if I smell it I get that same feeling of repetitiveness, it just sets in quickly, and then the game feels like yet another theme park map.

OTOH I'm truly re-enjoying the more linear, more directed games now. Almost through System (re)Shock, clearing the last two levels now, and man... its great. The limited freedom it offers is that perfect mix of linearity and agency.

Went back to ASKA after the latest update, and it takes a bit of time but it's a decent Valheim clone. And still improving.
Things I like;
- You can assign shift rotation to your villager (the night watch!)
- You can assign villagers to find resources (load of my back), provide security etc., build/cook stuff
- Pin building plans/recipes
- Sleep = "you feel rested" bonus & heal (although later you can build a healing hut)

Still a lot got be improved;
- no stacking of certain items in the inventory, while they stack just fine in the warehouse
- buildings need HUGE plots of land, especially later on
- building isn't as free as in Valheim; you build the structure in steps (which needs A LOT of resources)
- work 2 jobs? I could be missing something.. thus you need a lot of villagers for every task and/or buildings
- Things break over time; I have a small hatred about this but luckily tools are relatively easy to make
- Some trees take for...ever to chop down, cut into smaller pieces, and transport to your warehouse
- fckng grass is tall, lol

if you see the sight of grace...or if the grace is in sight. you are finally safe

In other words. You will not see level design, I not sure if that's what its called, like this. Witcher 3 was amazing in constructing forests and adding vistas like its both from real life and also fairy tail.
These guys take it in the opposite. You know its not from real life, but judging from this scene alone...you know somebody was tihnking, how can we tell a visual story: the player follows the road and leaves the shadows, the point the light you can spot the resting place just before the entrance to the boss arena.

it's inviting, its safe... but also it gives you anxiety knowing what will be next.

shadow of the eardtree is better than the base game. i;ve only seen this once. UNCHARTED: The Lost Legacy, which is not a DLC but it's somewhere in the vicinity.

I think Blood and Wine and Phantom liberty are also better than the base game but I agree DLC improving the game in a meaningful way is rare. I would probably put Shivering Isles in that catagory as well but what is better is always subjective.

Elden Ring is a pretty amazing game in general with only Witcher 3 giving it a run for my money in the last decade in my book.

Security level. I now realize I spent way too many good things on the lower decks lol. This is madness and I'm all out of armor piercing bullets here. Fck

Finished Shenmue 3 and really liked it :]

It's obviously for ones liking predecessors, due to continuing story, but also being exactly the same game. Imo the best one. Whole series is beautiful and atmospheric journey to late 80's Asia and it's world of martial arts. Slow paced, stylish kind of games which taste best when you had enough action recently. Gameplay is mostly gathering info to move the plot forward with some rare, so tasting well, and quite nuanced - if you want - fighting. It's one of those games highlighting nowadays forgotten pure fun from figuring things out. You need to gather mentioned info, but don't know where from, so it makes you think where to go and who to talk to resulting in fun from such moving forward. No markers, no hints, but all in a manner not ever making you stuck without a clou - many people will tell something useful. It's all spiced with some optional activities perfectly enriching base gameplay. Whole series is totally playable today - maybe don't look pretty, especially 1 & 2 "remasters", but from the kind of games which will never be gameplay wise outdated.
