Well i decided that Battlefield 2042 wont take any more positive energy from me, the only thing that kept me playing that game was socializing with the clan of friends i have since bf4.
BF2042 have been a trainwreck from the start but not even after so much time they even care to fix the gameplay, bugs, exploits and the list continues.
I believe they focused on the market target that is console and the "new young generation of gamers"

Lately the servers are trash, input lag, packet loss, no regular map rotations.
Result of this, me being in a bad mood and not enjoying at all even sharing a couple of matches with friends. So i decided to uninstall
and put EA BF upcoming series on the blacklist right after Ubisoft.

Good thing is that im just a few days away from Monster Hunter Wilds, meanwhile
I impounded my sons nintendo switch and bought a few games on sale which im playing

- Okami HD

- Resident Evil 1 ( remastered)
i started it today and damn that crap brought the creeps again from the old times. I told my son : let me show you how you play like pro...
next thing is the second zombie and he asking me: ...why are you running away?? me sweating telling him i was saving bullets...

- Broforce Co-op action like the old times and laughing together at the characters

- Double Dragon Gaiden : Nice!! what a nostalgia. We lost 3 times at the 3rd zone Boss

Got a few more on my wishlist like:

Tony Hawks pro skater 1&2
Soul Reaver 1&2
Donkey Kong Country Returns HD
Contra Operation Galuga

if you guys have more suggestions i will appreciate it. Sorry for the BF rant

I am playing tomb raider anniversary from 2007, and holy crap does it look amazing at 14" 2880x1800 120hz OLED. my little 7840u APU can handle it at native res, no upscaling, AA is off, but not needed at this pixel density anyway. @Frag_Maniac thanks to frag for reminding me this was in my steam library. man people underestimate how good old games look when you properly condense the pixels and add in OLED/high refresh.

I don't know why my screenshot came out looking like Lara and the window is a little blurry, it doesn't look that way actually in the game at all, must be the compression i dunno, i just can't believe im getting 120 fps on an APU at 1800p. wild how far we have come. anyways, im going to binge play this for next few days. i have waited far too long for this backlog item... this screenshot just does not do it justice what I am actually seeing when I play the game though, but anyways, yeah it looks way better in-game

:toast: thanks frag and also @Splinterdog for motivating me to get back into Tomb Raider

Are you using Nvidia TrueHDR by any chance? I swear it looks like you have HDR enabled. It's funny, after posting my comment about Anniversary in the TR thread, I was just thinking it would be an excellent game to do a Remake of. This is one of the more efficient games for it's time. They managed to squeeze it all into about 4GB file space. Have fun scaling the Pyramid, you can't afford to miss any cues on that segment! ;)

No, I don't have HDR turned on anywhere. I think that is just OLED magic at work.

You have me wanting to play it again, as I too have an OLED now (42" LG C3). I couldn't find any HDR mods, but there's a Reshade mod with AO that looks pretty good on Nexus. https://www.nexusmods.com/tombraideranniversary/mods/4

Looks amazing to me as is, so I think I will pass on the mods. It is fun so far, not sure why I waited so long to play it. I think in the back of my head I equated this game to the much older ones that had issues, so I never tried. It's been in my library forever, just never tried it. lol

Have you seen the mods for RTCW? Look up RealRTCW, Venom and The Dark Army over at ModDB.
All three are very high quality, very enjoyable.
I'm sure they are. I wasn't complaining about the quality though, just using it as a relatively well-known baseline.

I get the appeal of 8-bit games for those who grew up playing them, it just doesn't do it for me though.

Back on topic, been playing CK3 recently. There are things about it that I prefer over CK2, but overall I would say CK2 is a better game mechanically.

Graphically, though, CK3 is great.

Lately the servers are trash, input lag, packet loss
pérdida de paquetes=loss of packets

When you see a Spanish speaker say that, you better know that it's bad news for gaming experience for the one who typed that. :(
Heck, I seem to get packet loss from time to time on some servers, even on FTTH!

Or that my ping is jumpy AF!

That's the stretch that's by far the most ideal for testing hyper cars! I'm talking about at least C7 Z06 Corvettes and others with at least around the same amount of horsepower. Even more so for a 240+ MPH performer! Where using downforce, is a must!

Thanks to everyone for the help with DX:MD! Setting my monitor to 60 Hz and turning on Vsync fixed the black screens. I had two lock ups, but I was able to kill the game process via task manager. Much betterer :rockout:
That may mean you have a piece of junk display cable! IIRC, a bad cable can cause video cards to crash! Usually it won't be just a game crash. Just a game crash, sounds more like it's buggy.
But, blacking out and coming back, should make you throw a red flag! Especially for OLED screens! That's one of the symptoms is a display signal problem, whether it's the display cable, or a fault in the monitor hardware. Did you flash the April, 2024 firmware on your Alienware AW3423DWF?

At the beginning i thought that was me, but i tested my internet connection and everything was fine, 34-36 ping
Download and upload stable, 2 weeks after last update a complete disaster. They focus more on designing charms for the freaking weapons than fixing the game.

Yeah, I usually don't get lower than that on a Halo server, even with FTTH. That's not the problem, it's when I get real packet loss, or when I get a bonkers ping that keeps rapidly changing from 32-45, and similar. When that happens, I often get killed over and over again! And sometimes, it can make it feel like a person on the other team, is cheating! :wtf:

Earlier I modded the game to V1.0 just to test the music swap, which still have bugs and new cars that looks like being drawn by MS Paint, today I mod it to V1.2. I get some problems at first because the latest mod requires the latest ISO as well (v1.2 to be exact, there is V1.0, V1.1 and V1.2 ISO for NTSC-U). After restoring the music back to original I looked up what other car available, they even put F1 cars in this game.

For those who interested to get this mod you can download it here plus the guide how to mod the original ISO

Also you can read the changelog below. It's quite extensive and they really did great job to be honest.

It does nothing new.
Stationary NPC's waiting for you to engage. Mob encounters to kill. A skill tree. And lines of dialog with ramifications.

So basically Gothic 1. .....or anything else.

What bnotters me, is that the industry is so bad, they could make something like this every year, to the point it would be a norm. But instead it takes them 10 years. You get something like Avowed, once a decade. It's frustrating.
It's a good game, but it does nothing new or brings innovation. You just need a very powerful computer to play it.

On a more positive view. I see this as Bladurs gate 3, but with action combat instead of top-down

Benchmark Scores bench ? no time to lose with bench ! :)
Just questioning ...
I guess you're playing on emulator ... Aren't you interessed in better graphics ?

Yes on Duckstation on PC. I'm sure there is a lot of graphical enhancement to be made, I seen 60fps mod among other things but I like to play it as I played it on the actual console.

Finished Mad Max, which is something I did not do 9 years ago. The first time I quit at the Gastown race because I followed story missions and was very underequipped.

I’m glad I played again, but it revealed a weakness of the game that extensive playtesting before release would have revealed. The pace of missions do not sync up with the pace of improvements to Max and the Magnum Opus. This time I cleared each territory completely, so by the time I got to Pinkeye’s stronghold I was already nearing overpowered. Still, it got me through that stupid Gastown race this time and clear sailing after that. I feel it needed more missions though.

Overall though I very much enjoyed it. The personal combat felt satisfying and challenging. You can’t just get in there and brawl like Batman. Vehicle control took some time to adjust to it’s twitchiness, but once I did it also was fairly satisfying, especially vehicle combat. For a near-10 year okd game, the gameplay and graphics both held up very well.

EDIT: 10 year OLD game, not okd game. :slap:
I thoroughly enjoy Mad Max and have put in about 65 hours, but it's been almost a year since I played it. I must be over half way through, at least.
And yes, a much underrated game, as is Days Gone.

Been replaying Dungeon Keeper 2 again, one of my favorite Bullfrog games.

Also been thinking about a Crysis 1 playthrough, as i've never played it.
