What's your latest tech purchase?

The clicky switches especially, but mechanical/optical keyboards are much noisier in general than membrane or scissor switch keyboards (which is just a low profile membrane) is for typing. The main source of noise is either the switch type being clicky or bottom out noise. There is also a bit of rebound/key chatter noise and o-ring helps a little with that, but the don't really address the bottom sound sound. Some of the nicer quality mechanical/optical keyboards use a layering acoustic foam prior to assembling to help with the bottom out noise, but it's uncommonly done last I knew.

Yeah gave up on finding a decent used printer, bought a new Ender V3 SE, on a as sale. Seems pretty good.

What do you plan to make with that?

Inserts for board games, custom storage boxes for small bits (I haven't found the perfect storage solution), I have friends that probably have stuff to print, board game stuff in general... Nothing too specific. They have a good resale value if it turns out I don't use it much.

I got really major good stuff, it looks like! I got a Ryzen 9 5900X and my dream monitor! Stay tuned...

Update:

While this processor is spanking the Ryzen 7 5800X, this processor is cool like a cuke!

My bosses have all said I have done an amazing job this year. Anyways, long story short, I decided to reward myself for my progress by building my first ever mech keyboard.

$16 on sale Glorious PC base, $12 Akko Cream Yellow V3 Pro switches, and already had a spare set of keycaps unopened in the Hyperx Pudding variety I got for $10. So, under $40 total, it was a pretty fun experience. For the price paid I am happy with it, in a couple years I might lube the switches, I don't feel they need it right now, and I might replace the keycap set with a thematic no rgb one eventually, like an ocean wave color but no lights. I dunno

Those are nice caps!

Update:

Been using the colleague's pair of the first gen. model for some time, working on the construction site. 3rd gen. should be an upgrade sound wise and battery wise, also has an app support with various customizations. Can't wait to hear 4 of them in sync. I'll make a small review eventually.

If you have a cooler like FC140, you can run that CPU with no fans on the cooler at stock, and with about an extra 40w.

Mine is already like 3 years old, but I hear the new ones are even better..

Some upgrades for the old system in my specs!
I7 12700K
Corsair Icue H100i elite capellix
MSI Pro Z690-A DDR4
Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB DDR4

got a great deal on the 12700K but couldn’t justify the cost of a Z790 board just to have DDR5 when I’m still using a 1070TI.

With a $50 gift card and Amazon price match at Best Buy I snagged a 5800x for $150

NICE!

I have an update. It seems I got lucky with the price match.

Here's the major surprise:
As Adam from Deus Ex said.....if you want to make enemies.....buy a curved monitor...wait? what? :D Ahahha, just joking. That debate never ends....flat-screeners will bang your door, then curved-screeners will bang your door...but, but it's 1800R, why not 1500? 1200? 1000?. it's UW?!? ;)

Looks gorgeous, I love ultrawide, enjoy it.

plain and simple, buy both. Flat and Curve

Sk Hynix p41 Pro for $75. Fastest NVME 4x in many tests. I have a few now and couldn't pass up more speedy storage on the cheap.

Had to leave my main rig's case and monitors when we skipped town a coupla months ago. Difficult to transport/smuggle. Took the guts and some peripherals. Only now I could get replacements. Had to slap myself a few times to avoid wasting money on expensive stuff (a 1080 is hardly a card for 4k anyway).
Got an old and cheap Bitfenix Nova Midi, and a ViewSonic VA2406-MH (a 75hz version) to at least get things working.

The monitor looks nice (except for the backside. Got a large, ugly "ViewSonic" ruining it). Display could use some caliberation, when I get around to it.

The case is turning to be a pain. You really get what you pay for. The light weight and lack of RGBs is refreshing tho..

Quite the upgrade from my oculus go...
