Popped into the local charity shop for a gander. Picked up a wireless/BT mouse for £2. (Rapoo M100)

Originally couldnt find the model number as it was hidden underneath the battery cover but i saw the BT logo on a button underneath and took a gamble on it as I wanted one for use with my new tablet.

Lady told me it was untested and to bring it back if it didnt work. It paired up nicely. The feet on it look pretty fresh so it couldnt have been subjected to much use.

Not gonna lie, i would feel scummy to bring back a 2£ bought for a charity event

I dont see why. There isnt any wear on the skids and it looks brand new. costs £11-12 on amazon. I saved myself enough money for a pint of beer which some might argue where it really matters the most.

I misspoke, I meant that I wouldn't feel comfortable even if the item didn't work out being a cheapskate for something that cost as little as £2.

Edit: STOP, you don’t understand what i’m saying. Imagine bringing back to a charity event for cancer, kids, aids etc an item because it doesn’t work. ”give me back my money”

They put the price tag on it, not me.

The lady who served me did ask how much they would normally cost and I told her around £12-16 but obviously im quoting prices I had seen on amazon and maybe mice from Logitech or other unknown brand el-cheapos. It would be weird if they took it away me and readjusted the price and offered it back to me after I had told them. That would be very illegal in this country. They have to give it to me at the initial price it says on the sticker.

Thats not the only thing i bought though. I also picked up two items of clothing by Uniqlo so I ended up spending about £30 in total before leaving.

(YES IT’S EXPENSIVE, i still checked on Idealo and other websites to compare prices but for the majority i was in 5-10%~. I prefer to do with Amazon, 0 issues for a return)

True. We yanks call them "Thrift Shops" whereas the Brits call them "Charity Shops", even though they frequently have little or nothing to do with any actual charities.

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
sooooo, remember when my Adata SE770G 1tb fried and i got a Sandisk Extreme 4tb?

nah, the Extreme 4tb is still working like a charm and a blazing fast charm at that

decided to try to open the SE770G
and ohhhhh boy, it was a good idea ... after confirming it was the SX6000PNPAI that fried and the thing still worked with the SX8200PNAI (Gammix S11 Pro) 512gb, impressed ... DAMN, 1. it's serviciable and not downright e-waste 2. oh well now i have 3 M.2 NGFF enclosure with upgrade ability in mind :D
20240124_222259.jpg20240124_222314.jpg20240124_222413.jpg
damn the bottom part is indeed a slab of Aluminium

i decided to order a ...
20240130_115042.jpg

btw ... first time i see Switzerland pricing lower than expected (78chf, usually that one is 99chf~ ) so? instead of price hike we got price drops? fudge me sideway... my country is literally odd ... (usually we get shafted ... but sometime things like that happens ... )

now the option would be swapping the Gammix S11 Pro 1tb Gen3 on the mobo for that cute monster, tho only one slot is Gen4 and the Crucial P3 Plus albeit being dRAMless is also a Gen4
or just go with the initial idea and get the SE770G back to 1tb instead of the 512gb of the moment (well both options would be 1tb but one involve more work :D )

some little bonuses
polycarbonate full cover case for the ally (with prop stand) ... not bad not bad
20240125_160528.jpg20240125_160521.jpg

it did stand well ... yeah ... it's me casually playing W40K Rogue Trader at 23-30fps ( no FSR balls to the walls settings 1080p 15w silent mode on the Ally, although it still look good at 900p med settings FSR on performance ;) ) at work (calm day)
20240125_122826.jpg
ah, no ... that's a shot of the TPU half case resting on a Micros POS (point of sale not piece of shi... well you know ) but the other case did stand like that, a bit more upright :D

and ... well ... when i saw it, my mouse autoclicked buy instantly!?!?!! it's possessed!!!! (and i got a Logi Ergo M575 for free, will check if that one is also possessed by the "impulse buy click" demon  )

Just swapped out my Intel Core i5-8400T with a i5-8500T in my ThinkCentre M720q Tiny not the worlds biggest upgrade but it now got a higher base and boost clock.

The upgrade was free because I am setting up another M720q Tiny to replace a old HP laptop with Intel Core 2gen.
Ah those were the days. Being able to upgrade your laptops CPU was sweet!

I still use a socketed i5-9400 on mine. Clevo and its shenanigans.

EDIT: I wonder if searching for either a 9700T or 9900T for it would be a sane idea. Would the battery life get a little bit longer (and the laptop run colder) with either T processor?

Just swapped out my Intel Core i5-8400T with a i5-8500T in my ThinkCentre M720q Tiny not the worlds biggest upgrade but it now got a higher base and boost clock.

The upgrade was free because I am setting up another M720q Tiny to replace a old HP laptop with Intel Core 2gen.
looks good, though 32gb ram sound bit an overkill for that system

I use it as my plex media server and there are other plans in the future when there is money for it, but I also need to mod my Lenowo TwinkPad T480 so yeah money is tight :ohwell:

I have also connected a 16TB by usb 3.0 enclosure so it's a low powered beast

Ah those were the days. Being able to upgrade your laptops CPU was sweet!

This is a mini desktop not a laptop and could be configured up to a i9-9900T some modders even made a bios you need a external flasher for so it can handle the normal chips like i7-8700, i9-9900 at 65watt since the ThinkStation Tiny build on the same board can do it.
