TIL that Aliexpress has warehouses in the US (Just a few miles from me, apparently). Ordered this on 15 Nov, arrived 17 Nov - $61.86 (incl. Tax). It even came with a Cmos Battery. I will probably use this one for my media server. The other intel boards I have purchased from Aliexpress are lacking in the I/O dept. Fine for gaming, but not much else.

This one has 2 M.2 slots, as well as a PCIe 3.0 x4 slot, which I can slap an 8 sata port PCIe card into ($18).

Hurray! I am now a proud owner of an NVIDIA GPU!

And yes, it works. Paid $0 for it.

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
soooooo,

well, a SN850X 4tb without heatsink is on the way (unfortunately shipped via DPD instead of the Swiss post, basically pushing the delivery window from tomorrow morning to after tomorrow or worse ... this is the last time i will order anything from that etailer)
1731942986643.png
and iirc that kind of heatsink should fit (the model with HS is taller than 1.5mm if i am not wrong, tho i could try with the 2TB model i already have,)
1731942909516.png
if it's working : perfect, if not : well i can still replace my last 1tb NVMe in my main rig (Gammix S11) and keep my SN770M 2tb in the ally (put the 2230 heatsink, not bad about 8° less 52° instead of 60 when updating games on steam, put the second one on the SN770M 1tb in the Sharge Disk enclosure, a bit of a tight fit but i am glad i received 2 heatsink)

the GBA SP work like a charm tho the speaker sound a bit creaky (maybe the membrane aged a bit too much)
1731942859305.png
i could find that one locally, tho it would cost 4 time more ... if it's not the Speaker that is faulty, i prefer paying 4 time less

and my drawer/closet/boxes raiding is going well ...
after my GBA SP i also did find 2 NDS Lite but more importantly my NDS Classic (i find it superior to the Lite due to the GBA cartridge not sticking out like the Lite :D )
it use the same cable as the SP and i learned that it could use the same battery pack i bought for the SP with minimal modifications :D

Oh boy....we matchin orders now :D I just ordered the exact same heatsnik, but 3mm.....and the reason is I got from a relative an Asus ROG GL552VW laptop. I had laying around in the cupboard a Crucial 256G m.2 sata SSD, an old Sandisk Ultra Plus SSD, and I threw in 32gigs of DDR4. The sandisk chugs along at a steady 25C, but the Crucial is sitting at 51C....kinda toasty. I have 3.3mm to the laptop's lid and I think I should be able to fit one of those.

I have NO idea how I am gonna clean this:
Do a surface wipedown with a cloth wet with the highest percentage of isopropanol alcohol you can find (99% would be ideal) and clean the keyboard with a cotton swab/q-tip/toothbrush dipped in the same stuff. It'll clean and disinfect the thing without damaging it. For the screen, use a microfiber cloth and distilled water (don't use tap water because it will leave salt residue).

uh...

turns out they wrote DPD but it was a Swiss post tracking number, i was pulling my hai, oh wait i have none to pull... checking DPD tracking and getting errors, when i finally got the idea to check post tracking ...

time to test that 2280 adapter, the heatsink is on the way tho i can probably try with the aluminium one i already have (found it in m y spare box... forgot i had one  )
20241119_123119.jpg20241119_123422.jpg20241119_123426.jpg

installed, works fine and yeah, with almost 2tb of steam library (not the full one on the main rig, rather an "Ally curated" one instead ) 4tb is better

holy toaster!

all fine during STEAM DL and updates (moderate disk usage) 3 deg C more than the 2230 in the same situation is fine ;) (48 deg C lowest for now)
20241119_174957.jpg

speed testing : blazing ... fast and hot
20241119_175525.jpg20241119_175546.jpg
nonetheless the temps go down quite fast afterward

well compared to the SN770M it's quite good looking :D let's hope the all copper heatsink will improve temps over the aluminium one :)
yes yes i DL my CrystalDisk soft with the Aoi, or Shizuku, theme ... nothing to see here (well, usually i get remark about my keyboards keys ... not the softwares :p )

next would be
something like that
1732036349957.png
if it doesn't interfere with the 2280 mod
main pros it does not need a special back cover ;) just some trimming

i have zero worries about warranties ... i bought it second hand :D

What's your previous display?
The Acer Predator XB271HU (2560x1440p) from 2016, still works fine. It will now be used with the test benches.

I can't see how going from 1440p to 4K not changing the diagonal is gonna help with real estate, unless you're point blankin' it...

Welp, at least 4K is vastly superior in image quality. Congratulations!

I had the LG 34GP950G-B 34" before the Acer but it's curved and as I also do a lot of graphic design it wasn't great. Great gaming monitor though, so I used that for my racing sim setup [Project DRS].

but it's curved
It's a deal breaker for me personally. No curve in the world is compatible with 4+ feet eye-to-display distance I'm a connoiseur of. Flatties FTW.

Eh, only if 5120x2160 150+ Hz displays were a thing. Perhaps mañana...

Purchased a while ago but picked up from the post office today. Actually hella cool for a 90s gadget.

No TPU's image servers are having issues. I tried uploading a few small screenshots to my profile post and it errored out.
I guess so as uploading straight to TPU gives issues. Hope those are fixed soon.

A KLEVV CRAS C925 1TB NVME drive. W1zzard gave the 2TB version a great review and TPU'ers steered me in the right direction after asking about inexpensive NVMe drives. $70 after taxes, ordered it off Amazon last night and got it at 10 a.m. today with Prime. Thanks to dgianstefani for the review link.

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o

new phone mount, the previous one had an issue with non constant pressure on the edge of the phone, that one is the model above (and also the exact same as the Triban from Decathlon) center tightening thumbscrew and 2 rail opposed to 1 rail up and thumbscrew on the bottom rail.

and i received the Smartring ... work quite fine and report data in the +/- same result as the T-Rex 2 (now i need to shorten the armband of the Swatch Irony and i can keep my HR/SpO2/pressure/sleep data even when i want to wear a fancier watch ;) )

surprised ... the fake carbon doesn't look too bad (look better in real, pic is a bit out focus)

finished setting up the 4TB ally ... the SN850X is literally perfect ... i think i will take the 2TB and replace the Gammix S11 1tb in the main rig next time

ah, and the MicroSD USB-C reader... work as intended, all i ask :)

New, old tech? My first full tube guitar amplifier. PRS MT15 head and Marshall mini stack with dual Celestion 12" speakers. The first five minutes blew my mind. I have played modern transistor amps for the last 30 years. Man I was missing out.
