What's your latest tech purchase?

Do you have any experience with these GameSir Controller ?
I have to change my PC controller soon (a classic XBox one) as it shows some passage of time ...
Alien to the rescue :D I just purchased that at the beginning of March for my teenager, it is a superb 3rd party controller for its price point :) the hall effect sticks are nice and theres actually an Xbox app to adjust settings on console. I assume it would be just as awesome if not more on PC (1000hz polling rate is pc only). The only drawback for him is the placement of the start/menu buttons compared to the 1st party controller, but he says that will just take a bit of getting used to and he really enjoys the pad otherwise :)

A wrist rest to go with the new Aula F87.

Something is Ryzen
(spoiler it's my PC)

Since I do hardware design, I figured it was time to learn some machine coding, so I picked up a Pi Pico kit from Amazon and a few books.

Last purchase, very satisfied :)

Weird, technically 7900 XTX supports UHBR13.5, display is UHBR20 so there shouldn't be anything stopping it from runing UHBR13.5.

Might wanna ask tftcentral on twitter if they run into similar issue. They did review the same display.

I asked. They probably don't know either. Tried the included short UHBR20 cable and it still goes by UHBR10.
My guess is assuming a 1:2 compression ratio, UHBR10 is not exceeded. But I don't know that much details about DSC.

Probably won't change until I get a card capable of UHBR20, so I'll leave it as that and enjoy.

Another collection of boxes arrived today.

Cable extensions for the white build ($15), an 8 port 2.5gig switch for my intranet ($30), and a pocket travel router ($35) - because, why not?

All that is left is the white fans, and a white m.2 heatsink. Still undecided on a psu.

My PC case is getting closer to the house. After spending 15 days on an "airplane", it is now landed at the "local airport" and has started customs clearance.

I really don't understand why they are telling me that it was flown over here, when we both know that it came over on a container ship, just like the last PC case I bought.

Saving an old laptop with a new drive.....aaand...that Noctua killer right there :P I mean it feels nice, boy's got some weight to it, slightly over 25mil spec...absolute banger of a 140mm fan. Probably gonna get more of it :)

Well this came out of the blue, wasn't exactly planning for it but I just wanted to buy something for myself since my past ~2 months were complete hell so I wanted to treat myself before I get tired of even existing..
Had some extra money saved up and while randomly browsing tech stuff I was like okay GPU's are way too expensive even on the second hand market so thats gotta wait at least until late August/early September and then I've realized whats the oldest pat of my PC. 'Thought about buying non PC stuff too but I wanted something that I do use on a daily basis'
Apparently my monitor was ~6 years old at this point so I've checked what kind of 2560x1080 UW monitors are for sale in my country atm and actually theres not many models left and all of the 'higher' end ones were either out of stock or discontinued. 'yeh its a niche resolution I know but personally I like it since its still fairly easy to run and looks good to me, 3440x1440 is just too much/heavy for my budget sadly'
So I've ended up with this:

AGC_20250328_111013636.jpg
Still in the process of calibrating the colors and whatnot to my preference but so far it looks pretty good. 'Colors and the blacks defo pop more than on my previous monitor'
Yeah the 200 Hz part wasn't that important to me but hey why not. 'More fluid jiggle animations in my cultured gachas, I will take that..'
AGC_20250328_130332339.jpg
My phone is not that good at capturing displays apparently but its quite nice in person.
Personally I was always interested in curved monitors and I have to say it does not bother me at all, the only thing I will have to get used to is that this monitor is a bit higher up than my previous one was cause that one had a fixed stand. 'This one is already set to its lowest point and its still higher up a little but maybe this is more ideal actually'
Never heard of the brand before but supposedly they are fairly known in the security camera market and only entered the gaming/monitor segment a few years ago so I gave them a chance. 'not like I've had too many options..'

Best part is that I've only paid ~240 $ for it brand new with 2 years of retail warranty which was great for me since I wasn't willing to spend much more anyway .:)

do you use any hardware to calibrate the colours or do you just go by how it feels?

Simply how I feel since to me this is a subjective thing while trying out the various games I play. 'Like how I use different sharpening % with DLSS in each game'
I mean don't get me wrong this is most likely not ideal but eh I'm the only one using this monitor in the family so I might as well set it up how I prefer it.

Set of RCA cables, the shortest I could find without selling a kidney.

Nice wood.
I literally have that same knife from Aliexpress.

Anyway I've been testing my new monitor all day and its pretty good so no complaints from me.
Idk if its the adaptive sync or whatever else but finally I have no more tearing even when I have Vsync off so thats a huge plus. 'Tried DOOM Eternal and at 200 FPS/Hz with no tearing its amazing..'

Releasable zip ties to tidy up the cabling (Walmart has them).
