Just find a book on introductory electronics. A lot of it used to be taught in schools, but oh well...

I found a site with old Radio Shack notebooks:

Radio Shack published a series of technical booklets beginning around 1983. Many were reissued with multiple printings up to 1993.

These are for USA, in Europe some things will be different - I think EU does not use color code but just tiny markings on the through-hole resistors. Both USA and Europe use metric for units of electricity, as there never were others.

Do you really think that someone can learn a lot from an unknown area of expertise without going at school ?

That's the best way - if you are interested in the subject you progress much faster. There are hands-on things that you can learn faster by watching someone do it or show them to you, but this you rarely get them in school either. Nowadays, check youtube for videos showing how people do it.

Internet and youtube : the new school. I suspect that in the next years schools,colleges and universities will become a dream.

There are problems there, just take a look at tuition at USA universities, even state ones. Ridiculous.
