Why is it so damn hard to find a white fan?

I’ve upgraded my pc since, but I’ve had a dh-15 on a p55 board for over a decade with no issues. I’ve had a few other dual-towers last longer that I’ve given away to others that I haven’t heard complaints about yet, but idk who has replaced what

I’d checkout gamersnexus for case reviews before you make a purchase, I’m not sure anyone else takes their testing method as seriously, even if they recommend AIOs (I don’t because high frequency pump noise bothers me and custom is too burdensome for the benefits imho)

But doesn't that limit your RAM module choices?

A lot of these large coolers often interfere with RAM module heights, or at least, that's what I've often heard.

The dh-15 does, but it really depends on the cooler itself. More modern options like the Fuma or various thermalright options are designed to have less interference. Even so, with older models like the dh-15, which aren’t designed for modern sockets, the biggest issue is your chassis width. You can typically just adjust the front fan to clear the RAM, provided you have the space.

These days heatsinks adjacent to the IO is a bigger issue (I’d mention PCI but most boards move the GPU to the second slot now), but then most dual towers don’t benefit from a third fan.

Cases aren’t really an issue, especially when compared to GPUs these days. For example, your cooler is 155mm, while the old DH-15 is 165mm — literally only 1cm. Most cases have clearance for 165mm which, afaik, is as big as they get (yours is at 163mm), and most modern dual-towers are around the 160mm range. For example, the thermalright peerless assassin is a favorite these days at 157mm.

Yes they do. Although admittedly its not pure white. It has black accents in its corners, and the middle logo sticker is black. While the other one has a black frame.

Then again, I have all white fan build with ID cooling, Thermalright and Tecware fans, and half of them have them black center logo (one of the ID cooling fans and the Thermalright CPU Cooler fans.) Pure white fans are harder to find. You have to at least accept black center logos to have a decent choice to choose from.

My understanding is that, in general, fans are more efficient pulling rather than pushing. If seeking to balance two fans of different capability, placing the less powerful fan in the more efficient position might balance it with the more powerful fan.

You would put the weaker fan on the left side of a conventional CPU tower cooler, moving air toward the rear exhaust vent.

Thus the more powerful fan is on the right, pushing air into the cooler's fins.

This is all based on Vario's theory which was not accompanied by any sort of external reference or documentation.

A more pragmatic approach would be to try it out yourself with your actual components in your specific environment (your PC case). Fans do not have linear performance curves anyhow so results will depend on whatever speeds you operate them at.

Best choice is Arctic P12 or P120 Bionix in white or white/black. I've never once been disappointed by one of their products, and have used a ton of these fans. My main system has a p120 Bionix on the CPU cooler and p12 case fans.

It's been proven a decade back by Martinsliquidlabs that pull nets higher temps vs push thru a resistance like a radiator. Iirc it was 1c difference in water temp on a 360 rad for ex.
