A bit off topic, but I would like to see a review of all GPU until today that use only the pcie power aka max 75W.
on topic, and from a profit point of view, many companies see extra $$$ as a result of the trend of ever growing power usage. They also ״creates” the demand by develop more demanding games and applications that must use stronger hardware and as a result of physical limits tend to draw more power. This is a grand, synchronised and symbiotic industry that benefits from bigger W and use it a an “must upgrade” excuse (and this is just one of those excuses, see also GPU memory amount and so on).
Taking the current capitalist market state in our planet into account and by projecting upon our human must-have-more-now nature, I can say this trans will not change nor slow down in the coming foreseeable future.
TL;DR
will gpu continue to have crazy TDP?
Yes.
