I cannot remember all my CPU's: (these will not be in the correct order either)

Intel Pentium 1 100Mhz

AMD Athlon 1400 T-Bird
AMD Athlon XP 2000+ (Thouroughbred or Barton cannot remember)
AMD Athlon XP 3000+ (Barton)
Intel Pentium 4 2.4Ghz Northwood
Some form of Athlon 64, I know I had a couple just cannot remember models
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300

AMD Ryzen 5 3600
AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D

I'm sure I missed a few.

Graphics cards, had way to many to remember them all:
Some really ancient PCi card that you could add memory to, think it had 4 slots total
S3 Trio
Geforce Riva TNT
Gefore Riva TNT2
ATi Rage 128 Pro (I still have this card)
Geforce 2 MX200
Geforce 4 Ti-4400 (Gainward Golden Sample (I still have this card somewhere)
Ati Radeon 9600 Pro
Im sure I've forgotten some here
Geforce 8800GTS 320Mb
Geforce 8800GT 512Mb
Geforce 9800GTX (This one died along with a thermaltake 750w toughpower psu, still annoys me to this day)

Geforce GTX 275
Geforce GTX 460
AMD Radeon HD6850
Geforce GTX 770
Geforce GTX 1060 3gb
AMD Radeon RX480
Geforce GTX1080
AMD Radeon RX6800XT
Geforce RTX 4080 Super
you are the perfect customer for the companies hype of small incremental improvement. although you seemed to have learned the fail in going from gen to gen isnt worth it bang/buck the last 2 gpu.

damn, some of you even remember cpu and gpu pairings and even clockspeeds, but what about mobos huh??

Aaaanyways wish my memory was that good...

Intel Pentium 1
Intel Pentium 2
Intel Pentium 3 (800mhz)
Intel Pentium 4 1.7ghz

3dfx Voodoo2
Nvidia TNT2
ATi 9700pro
ATi 3850
Nvidia 6800gt
ATi 5850 (flashed 5870bios)
Nvidia 970
Nvidia 2070s
Nvidia 3080
Nvidia 4090

Might be forgetting another GPU or CPU from my early PC days

Haven't 100% decided on blackwell yet, maybe, maybe not.

You'll probably need to upgrade CPU and motherboard, besides PSU… new case... to fit AIO or WB

Not for the price its not.....its terrible

I honestly don't think it's that terrible. Please hear me out.

From my 4080 I will get double the frames and double the vram, basically a 100% uplift or near abouts. The 4080 had an msrp of 1200 USD. If I was coming from a 4090 id have second thoughts about it.

Unfortunately, this is the world we currently live in regards to prices. Yes, it's going to be scary what the release prices will be down under but hopefully I get a chance for the dust to settle on prices before there are any stock issues.

I originally went a 4080 coming from a 6800 XT. I paid 1749 AUD for the 4080 and the cheapest 4090 I could find was 2749. I said to myself I would save the 1k and put that towards the Nvidia 5 series or Radeon.

With the power supply, I believe I will get away with the one I have as I will be power limiting if for maximum efficiency: 20% Efficiency Boost by RTX 5090 Power Target Tweaking but I will be donking in a 1300w
I purchased ages ago on special just in case.

ill might buy a 5090 when it starts acting like a 1080ti
probably like 5 years from now

Did something similar.
2080Ti to 4080. (+100%)
But 4080 to 5090 it’s +100% more expensive….that’s the problem.
And do you really need that increase in performance?
Or to rephrase it, do you feel the 4080 is not fast enough for your standards?

My CPU / GPU History:

Intel Core i3-3220 / Asus GTX 750 Ti OC 2GB
Intel Core i7-4790K / ASUS STRIX GTX 970 DirectCU II OC 4GB
Intel Core i7-4790K / Asus ROG Strix 1070 OC 8GB
Intel Core i7-4790K / Asus ROG Strix 3060 Ti OC 8GB
AMD Ryzen 7 5800x / Asus ROG Strix 3060 Ti OC 8GB
AMD Ryzen 7 5800x / Zotac RTX 4080 Trinity OC 16GB
AMD Ryzen 9 9900x / Zotac RTX 4080 Trinity OC 16GB (Current Setup)

I've been thinking about getting a Blackwell card, but I think I'll wait another generation.
Maybe an RTX 6080?! Let's see what happens.

Pentium II
Pentium 4 s478 / HD3650 AGP
E5200 / HD3650 AGP
E7500 / HD4850
Phenom II X4 965 / HD7770
Phenom II X4 965 / RX460
Ryzen 7 1700 / RX460
Ryzen 7 1700 / RX580
Ryzen 7 3800X /RX580
Ryzen 7 3800X / RTX 2070S
Ryzen 7 7800X3D / RTX 2070S

I'm waiting for 5070Ti or 5060Ti. FF7 Rebirth eats all my 8GB vram at 1440p.

What about 16K?

Nobody would last long enough at 16k

:fear: I have questions about this... but I'm not sure if I should ask them.
G3258 was a legend, little cpu that could. Played around with one paired with GTX 760, had mine clocked at 4.7ghz. 780ti might be a stretch but at 1440p/4k could work well!

12700K/3080 FTW3 is probably going to be it until something dies. There's next no AAA titles on the horizon that I think will be unplayable and I don't really have an interest in AAA titles in general now.

That's exactly the reasoning I'm following. I'm going to see how's the launch pricing before I make a decision. I'm only afraid of missing the boat, then having no stock for the foreseeable future, and end up with even worse pricing due to global demand (launch batch was pretty much secured by the manufacturers for release date), or something even worse, getting hit with retaliatory tariffs (read the news mate)

What's the astral gonna be in your country 4000 usd lmao... I don't think skipping that is missing any boat lol but everyone has got to decide that themselves... You sold your 4080 already from my understanding so you don't have a lot of options other than a side grade are a crazy expensive upgrade.

That is correct. I'm hoping that there are at least some models close to NVIDIA's recommended Brazil MSRP, that is, 19,999 BRL. That's actually my total budget. I can't spend more. If prices are too aggressive above that, I will have to get a 5080 instead.

No. The 5090 alone, when fully maxed out, would use ~90% of my PSUs rated power limit, I've seen some overclocked going over my PSU rated power limit in a worst case scenario for the GPU alone. I am not upgrading my PSU and I wouldn't want to deal with a complete system dumping 800 watts in my room.

I might get 5080 if I can easily get a FE and if it reviews well, but realistically, I'll probably end up with 5070 Ti or 9070 XT, since I don't really want to spend $1000 on a GPU.

No, and will never buy overpriced gpu

my pcs over the years has been always focusing on performance/price especially on gpus part

phenom x6 1090t feat HD6950@HD6970
i5 4690k feat R9-290@290x
i7 6800k feat R9-290@290x
i7 13700kf feat RX6700XT
i7 13700kf feat RX6900XT (current)

current i do not need a better pc and I almost game very well all my games I get the correct fps for my monitor on games I want and still gaming at 1080p@240hz and not bothering upgrading resolution or hz, my plan is too keep at least 5years more this build, i tuned the processor but intel lost my heart recently, and probably next cpu will be a ryzen X3D for 80% sure.
I looked at RX9700XT performance and even if the price seems right, I still not will consider upgrading to it, will wait for next vega maybe, or even more.

As always when i upgrade i tend to keep for a years or more the cpu and play bottleneck while keeping ancient cpu, I played for a years or so with the 1090t while using the 290, and for 2 years kept the 6800k with an 6700XT

Hopefully you got a decent chunk back for your 4080 if I remember correctly you spent 4090 like money on it....

Well I already put my money down for the Asus Astral, but hopefully I can grab the Gigabyte Aorus Master which is 400usd less (3200usd vs 3600usd after tax LOL)

And I did. Managed to recoup around 80% of its initial cost 18 months ago. That was a pretty good deal for me. I'm just a bit spooked by pricing projections so far, but I suppose we will know in 3 days' time.

They are much worse than I expected even here in the states and the terrible availability isn't gonna help... Word on the street is retailers will have 1 5090 for every 20 5080 and the 5080s are a very low volume launch but I guess we will see.

2 years ago this would be me lol I feel you man....3200+ is rough though I'd probably skip the 90 class at those prices at any time lol 1700 usd last gen was painful although now that I've seen 50 series less so.

This will be my first GPU purchase for a long while so I will try to get one on the 30th. I was hoping to get my hands on a Founder's Edition card but it seems they won't be available here in the land down under. If I don't get one, I'll probably look for a used 4090.
