Personally, the Q6600

Back in 2007 i could only watch some videos of it running Pro Street, Crysis and Half-life 2 without stuttering nearly as much as my P4 630.

Once i got hands in one after i replaced a Pentium Dual Core, Goddamn, that was water to wine transformation.
Ran really cold on a NZXT Havik 140 and i pushed that guy to around 3.8Ghz on all cores with little volt bump needed.

Just loved that CPU so much, sad i had to sell it a few years later
I had this for some time. @3.4 but now I have the Modded Xeon E5450 @3.6

I haven't got a favourite

I do miss the greater overclocking potential Intel used to offer which gradually faded over time. My last being the i7-7700K which easily managed 5.1Ghz (I settled with 5.0Ghz for more tolerable temps) and then it was downhill with the 9700K seeing only a +100Mhz OC uplift with a sharp FULL STOP.

Another worthy mention: Off ebay and dirty cheap, a Quad Q9550 upgrade brought our OLD Dell Vostro 420 pre-built back to life and still in service today (still haven't worked out a mod to replace that annoying loud stock cooler)

The CPU admiration can't end there, not with my current 5800X3D on the GO. Boootifully smooth sailing!!

I had various skt 939 chips... 3000+ at 2.8-2.9Ghz. An 3200+ that I dont recall trying to OC. FX-55 Clawhammer that wouldnt OC. 3800+ (Manchester) X2 that would do 2.66Ghz,

Q9550 at 3.9Ghz. Then a 2500k at 4.9Ghz. 3930K at 4.6 or 4.7. 8600k at 4.8.

I would say my 3800+ X2 was the 'Most fun' as I was in a bad place at the time financially and I had to squeeze every last bit of juice from it to keep up with all my friends. who were well in to steam rolling my face with their more powerful AM3 machines by the time I eventually had enough cash build a Q9550 setup.

I am still in belief that my 2500k probably could have done 5ghz+. It made 4.9 at 1.38v - it was the most hassle free OC out of all of the chips Ive had. The day I put the system together. It was running completely stable after within 24hrs of putting it together.

I never had any of the GOATs on the PC side but the PowerPC G3 220MHz which was sold as an aftermarket CPU upgrade for G1 and G2 PCI-slot Macs was a real banger because you could OC every one past 300MHz and many went to the card's top multiplier of 360MHz. Mine only did 330MHz, boo! Still great though. Honorable mention to the later G4 1GHz which went into the same Mac. PowerMac 601 100MHz upgraded to a CPU 3 generations newer and 10X the clock speed. Oof the bus speed performance choke though...

Good times.
