I suspect my G.Skill Trident Z Neo 32 GB 3600 MHz kit is faulty. Sudden BSOD today when just browsing: (either that or my CPU IMC!)

According to that post, your ram is toast :p

Also I run 32GB of RAM at 3600 just fine. I imagine a bunch of people do 3800 even. But for it to fail at 2133MHz and another kit be fine, the only logical conclusion is that your RAM is toast -- likely a RAM chip failed.

Yep, Linpack Extreme reported a failure very quickly! WTF?! Did it semi-die on me just because of a record low last night making the heat come on, even when not doing extreme OC'ing?!
The pile of poop acted like I was doing fudging 3800+!

Ok, so now in relation to this post from yesterday & only a few posts above, managed to get the "unorthodox" approach to installing an AM4 capable tower cooler onto the AM5 platform without any help from Cooler Master for this particular product but at the same time keeping the original AM5 backplate intact & thus unremoved from the motherboard itself due to the 8 screw system that AMD have implemented for AM5 aka "Socket Actuation Mechanism".
I was fairly lucky that the Cooler Master HS mounting screw offsets actually matched the thread size of the AMD backplate screw holes. When I say "fairly lucky" I mean I tiny bit of resistance was encountered when screwing them in, due to the different thread pattern of the original AM5 screws. However I was able to get the HS nice n' firm so it won't fall over or lean when the whole motherboard is mounted vertically in a typical PC case. Checked all clearances & ensured HS is mounted nice n' square with enough pressure but not too much to prevent the cpu from crushing or warping the motherboard like has been seen in the early days of Intel's socket 1700 motherboards & their mounting systems for CPU HS.

The Cooler Master MA620P HS weighs about 850g but I also notice that the original stock AMD HS that came with my R7 7700 is not exactly a light weight either, with its substantial amount of copper they have built into the factory HS. So I'm betting that this unusual HS mount I've done will sit right & proper over the life cycle of this build. Happy to get it booting up then!

Had a bearing crap out on my rear exhaut fan last night (1400rpm NB Black Slilent Pro).
I've used these fans for years and never had one go before (this one about 1.5 years); I think it's due to the P/P setup on my NF-A12.

The clicking sound only started up while gaming.
It died down after I exited out and then was able to replicate it while running R23

I had a spare so replaced it but am thinking I need somthing at higher RPM in the rear to handle when the CPU fans ramp up.
We'll see how long this one lasts.

Have you tried relubing it?

Believe it or not I think this is the first case fan I've had with a bearing issue; thank you for posting that though, definitely worth a shot on the NB :)

PC specs changed due to a PC hardware emergency. Down to a 16 GB kit. (2x8GB) Unexpected system failure. ("MEMORY_MANAGEMENT" BSOD when browsing and RAM test failure with Linpack Xtreme)

Am I on to something? Here's a post I saw at Newegg, albeit this isn't the RAM I have:

"Stopped working after a year and some months. Constantly ram into bsod memory management and ran windows memory diagnostic tool confirming ram going out."

The only difference, pretty much, was I didn't use Windows Memory Diagnostic tool. It's the same stop code. Does this mean something going on with a supply chain in very recent times?

upgraded to 10th gen last night and it went pretty well, i am quite satisfied with the motherboard and cpu, both should last me quite long because it was all the money i got and my gpu would hold back this cpu anyway

Better at night (flash is too powerfull) with the two PC loaded and a game on displayed each screen :peace:20230524_043840.jpg20230524_044001.jpg

\\// EDIT \\//

And tomorrow...
... the QVO 8Tb will receive/merge 2x2Tb+1x1Tb SSD MX500 (100% health astoningishly) and the NVMe 2Tb Pioneer APS-SE20G too.

It will be placed where the 1To is, vertical in front of a 140mm fan :p

When i can i'll buy a 8Tb NVMe and keep QVO for backup only (it will have all data on it, just need to update sometimes from NVMe futur replacement... then i will be able to disable ASMedia sata controller in BIOS.

In relation to the above post, I've found that the Cooler Master MA620P does not to make proper contact with the top of the IHS on the current AM5 platform. Although when one mounts it, it seems it's properly bolted on - that is to the point whereby the bolts are tightened to "finger tightness" & being very careful not to over tighten because the prospect of over tightening could warp the AMD SAM system via the original backplate. Not going down that path even for experimental reasons...
So Unless one has very specific measuring tools for measurements within 1mm or less for absolute precise measuring via penetrating 3D images its practically impossible to confirm if the after market HS is doing the job its intended to do.
I was playing around with the PBO curve and negative voltage offsets (measured in units not volts from the bios) & thought it rather unusual that the temps I was getting in gaming compared to the wattage the cpu package power was consuming as advised by HWiNFO were not quite right. Even though the chip was not throttling, it's just wrong imo that 95C temps with less than 60w total max power draw coming up as reported. Even when the system was left alone for over a minute or two & just idling, hovering around 50C with like less than 20W power draw!
So I have removed this CM product & reverted to the stock prism cooler that AMD suppled for the time being until my Deep Cool AK620 arrives in the mail that I ordered couple days ago.
I'll run some benchies in the mean time to compare how good the stock cooler is, (at least under win 11) & I'm also using Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut TIM instead of the factory pre applied TIM.

Just putting all this out there so if anyone else with AM5 & considering recycling their old AM4 cooler wants to go down this path to be VERY careful of a proper mount. Despite AMD advising that AM4 coolers are compatible with AM5, there is a big "if" at play here..

Yikes! That's worse than my 5800X with a Hyper 212! And that's a meme-tacularly hot chip! The 5800X is the meme of everything crammed onto a single CCD!

Yes, when I removed the CM HS the TIM was barely touching the top of the IHS! too much air getting in & ruining everything.
In the case of the 5800X, it's not that the CM Hyper 212 HS is failing to contact the top of the IHS, but the heatpipes are in the wrong spots!
You need an HS that has more pipes or the pipes closer together!

Total agreement with number of heat pipes, even the stock AMD cooler reminds me of the stock FX-8350 cooler back in it's day. Both have significant copper built into them with 4 heat pipes.
I'll run some benchies & p95 stress testing to compare with Deep Cool's AK620 when it arrives. Should make an interesting comparisons.

It seemed fine with low-threaded tasks, but as soon as I started an all-core load with Maxon Cinebench R23, it would roast!

@R-T-B @lexluthermiester @Super Firm Tofu @tabascosauz @stinger608 @freeagent

check this out. i dusted this fully tonight and put on mx-6 just about 30 minutes ago or so.

she is brand new again, also @R-T-B your brother should be ashamed that he lets his hardware get so dusty. it was the worst I ever seen (I knew what I was buying, not mad at you just to be clear, I was perfectly happy to clean as I made clear to you, when I opened it up it was horrible though, lol) :)

now just going to let it all dry for 24 hours, I used a hair dryer, so its probably ok even now. but just to be safe. 24 hours. arctic mx-6 is on though. she is good to go for 6-8 more years. rock on mates! :rockout:
