I don't know you, you don't know me, yet you're making assumptions that I had no knowledge of what was going on.

I base myself on empirical evidence. Without them I make the perfectly rational assumption that said person has as little information as I do. That's the more reasonable stance, while also asking said person (you) of providing whatever proof he might have to substantiate his claims -- which I did. So no need to get worked up about it.

I did look at your attachment, but I don't see how it informs us any further of your corroborations of Jim's predictions of Zen 2. Proving that you sat on som indefinite information on Ryzen 3000 in October that other people didn't doesn't give you any validity in making all sorts of other unrelated claims of Ryzen 3000 (like Jim's "source"), without proper evidence. Your image does not prove that AMD was planning to release most of its Zen 2 line-up in CES. Your image does not prove that Zen chips were those Jim advertised. Your image does not prove that those chips' frequencies went as high as 5GHz+. Your image does not prove that that Jim's price predictions were correct (at least well into December, when their plans changed).

Well AdoredTV makes it highly relevant, as most of the hype could be traced back to his stuff. The point being that when these people with influence, who have a responsibility to be critical and properly informative, are not, then issues like what we saw the last 6 months arise.

Every time you reply, it is about AdoredTV. Clearly, the issue lies with AdoredTV. The responsibility for this lies with AdoredTV. Every one else is responsible for what they themselves say and that is as far is it goes. I really think you need to take your beef to AdoredTV.

I disagree. People coming together and having discussions, like on this forum, is precisely about making for more informed human beings -- that's the entire purpose of having public forums like these. We might not carry the same weight of influence as AdoredTV or Hardware Unboxed, but we nevertheless have some influence and some impact; namely on those reading and participating on TPU. If you think that's insignificant, then you are also disqualifying the entire function of the forum of TPU, and other similarly-sized forums, as a whole. Why have any discussion at all to begin with, if it won't matter much on a larger scale?

Informed human beings? A thread on this forum generally can't make it off the first page without a war about NV, AMD, or Intel and the mods coming in and wiping the thread. It had 200,000 views, oh no! I bet 199,000 of them ended with people laughing saying they weren't getting involved with this dumpster fire.

Threads get posted by staff about MSI trying to screw customers by not supporting new Ryzen 3000 WITHOUT EVER CONTACTING MSI and we are concerned about a few forum members parroting something that may or may not be BS from some Youtuber? If you are that concerned about misinformation/hype, this is going to take a rebuild from the top down.

If you are that concerned about misinformation/hype, this is going to take a rebuild from the top down.

Informed understanding of how things work isn't just an issue regarding the subject matter of this thread. It's the motive for any kind of discourse, and the whole purpose of forums like this. To ridicule its influence like you do begs to question as to why you even bother being a forum member at all?

Most sites produce articles/news based on what their readership is most interested in. It’s the web-driven model, where ads pay for the content, and clicks are king. I think many sites just post something they know is inflammatory, just to get a reoccurring discussion going in the comment section. Radio personalities have done this for a long time—take a stance that spurs debate and brings in the callers.

The downfall of this is that when paid subscriptions died with the printed newspaper, so did quality journalism in most cases. Stories aren’t vetted, facts are missing, opposing views are either misrepresented or not represented at all, and bias is painfully obvious. It’s no wonder people are at each other’s throats online. The news sites leave the actual journalism to their readership.

I'm asking what value you see in being a forum member, if not for having discussions with others regarding relevant topics as a way to develop more and better informed opinions of the world -- you know, the whole point of forums. This thread has just one such goal (in respect to overhyping). Your basis for discrediting this thread, in which you are pessimistically ridiculing any attempt at informing people to act better, is true for the forum as a whole, and all other forums out there for that matter, too. If you find the idea of informing other people stupid due to the "lack of" influence of us individual members, then why are you wasting your time here at all? Influencing others with your opinion is the main point of forum discussions, is it not?
