MSI Readies AMD-Based Wind12 U210 Ultra-Portable

Having recently announced the Wind12 U200 ultra-portable, MSI is readying its twin based on the AMD Yukon ULV platform. While the U200 uses an Intel Penryn ULV SU3500 processor, the U210 will feature AMD Athlon Neo MV-40 1.6 GHz. Two sub-variants of this, bring about slight changes in the specs. The U210-002 is priced at 399€, and packs 1 GB of memory, 160 GB of storage, and Windows XP Home. The 449€ U210-010 on the other hand, sports 2 GB of memory, 250 GB of storage, and Windows Vista Home Premium. The Wind12 series consists of 12.1" ultra-portables pack the most essential features with a touch of luxury, in its 297x 190 x 24.5~31 mm chassis, tipping the scales at 1.4 kg.

BenQ Intros nScreen i91 All-in-One PC

BenQ introduced its newest product: the nScreen i91 All-in-One PC. The PC uses a monolithic design with the head-unit housing the system and a 19 inch 16:9 widescreen HD dislpay. For a change, BenQ opts for the AMD Yukon-based Sempron 210U processor instead of Intel Atom. Other pieces of hardware include 1 GB of DDR2 memory, 160 GB of storage space, a card-reader and built-in 1.3 MP webcam.

The bottom-right of the screen holds a rotary-switch that controls volume and power, TV-style. BenQ rates this PC to consume up to 80% less power in comparison to conventional desktop PCs, with its consumption rated at around 30W. The company is planning to make something similar using Intel's Atom processor. This nScreen i91 will be available at around $512 from the end of this month in Asian markets.

AMD Delivers Groundbreaking Platform for Ultrathin Notebooks

AMD today announced the availability of the AMD platform for ultrathin notebooks, enabling exceedingly thin and light OEM designs with rich entertainment capabilities at an affordable price. Previously codenamed "Yukon," the platform is based on the new AMD Athlon Neo processor, ATI Radeon X1250 integrated graphics and optional ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3410 discrete graphics and brings true HD entertainment1 to a new category of stylish notebook PCs. The AMD platform debuts within the HP Pavilion dv2 Entertainment Notebook PC ultrathin notebook, which measures less than one-inch thick and weighs less than four pounds. The HP Pavilion dv2 also comes equipped with a 12.1-inch diagonal LED BrightView display, nearly full-size keyboard, and optional external optical disc drive with Blu-ray capability.
