Zotac Launches the Intel N100 Powered ZBOX Pro PI339 pico Mini PC

When it comes to Intel powered mini PCs, Zotac is one of the main players in the market and its latest addition, the ZBOX Pro PI339 pico is an almost pocket friendly PC based on an Intel Processor N100. For those not familiar with Intel's N-range of CPUs, these are pretty much the E-cores from Intel's higher-end chips and Intel offers a range of options from two to eight cores. The N100 is a quad core part that peaks at a 3.4 GHz turbo frequency, has 6 MB of cache and a 6 W TDP. Zotac has paired the CPU with a somewhat meagre 4 GB of LPDDR5/LPDDR5X memory and there's no way to add more RAM to this system.

Storage is handled by a single M.2 slot that's compatible with PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe or SATA drives up to 2280 in size. In terms of connectivity the ZBOX Pro PI339 pico has a pair of HDMI 2.1 ports that are limited to 4K output at 60 Hz, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) Type A ports, a Gigabit Ethernet port and a barrel plug for power input. It's unfortunate that Zotac didn't go with USB-C for the power input, as it would've made the ZBOX far easier to power, since the supplied power adapter only outputs 20 Watts. There's also onboard WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 support, although the rather large antennas are a somewhat odd addition to the small PC. Zotac claims to support Windows 11 / Windows 10 IoT ENT LTSC 2021, Ubuntu 20.04.5 LTS Linux, but most likely any flavour of Linux should work. The ZBOX Pro PI339 pico measures 115 x 76 x 27 mm (WxDxH) and has a volume of a mere 0.27 litres. No word on pricing as yet.

Montblanc Launches the MTB 03 ANC Earbuds with aptX Adaptive

Luxury brands and consumer electronics don't tend to be a good mix, largely due to the luxury brands either not caring or not being knowledgeable enough about the product they're making. Montblanc has taken a very different route with its new MTB 03 ANC earbuds, as the company has cooperated with Axel Grell, who used to work for Sennheiser before setting up his own brand of audio products. In all fairness, Montblanc did a similar team-up for its MTB 01 headphones where they worked with the founder of Audeze. The MTB 03's feature 7 mm beryllium drivers and are built around a Qualcomm Bluetooth 5.2 chipset which Montblanc is leveraging by adding aptX Adaptive support.

Furthermore, Montblanc has added support for Mimi Hearing Technologies sound personalisation software, on top of the tuning provided by Axel Grell. Sadly these luxury buds aren't without shortcomings, as the battery life is said to be good for only six hours of listening time, with another two full charges in the charging case. That's far less than most competing products on the market today. The charging case can be charged wirelessly or via USB-C and a 15 minute charge of the earbuds is said to be good enough for 100 minutes of playback time, while a full charge takes 90 minutes. For those still interested, a pair of the MTB 03's will set you back £345 or around US$439, although that price includes 20 percent VAT.

Raspberry Pi Pico W Updated with Bluetooth Support

In June last year, we launched Raspberry Pi Pico W, a $6 wireless-enabled variant of our Pico platform, built around our RP2040 microcontroller. In the year since, we've sold over half a million of these tiny boards, and they've found their way into countless projects, from singing fish to web servers to communicative house plants. But one thing has been missing: Bluetooth support. Now that's been fixed - and you don't even need to buy a new Pico W.

Pico W's wireless functionality is provided by the Infineon CYW43439 device, which contains a 2.4 GHz radio providing both 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.2, supporting Bluetooth Classic and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) functionality. At launch, our firmware and host-side software only enabled Wi-Fi, not Bluetooth.

Abit Unveils AB-B760ITX Socket LGA1700 Motherboard

Abit unveiled the AB-B760ITX, a DIY retail segment Mini-ITX motherboard based on Intel Socket LGA1700, and B760 chipset. The board comes in two variants based on PCB color—black and white. It uses a conventional power input configuration of 24-pin ATX and 8-pin EPS, with a 10-phase VRM conditioning it for the processor. The LGA1700 processor is wired to two DDR4 memory slots for up to 64 GB of dual-channel DDR4-4000 memory; and an M.2 NVMe Gen 4 slot. The main PCIe interface is PCI_Express 5.0 x16. Connectivity includes 6-channel HD audio, Wi-Fi 6E + Bluetooth 5.2 WLAN, 2.5 GbE wired LAN, and four USB 3.2 ports. Display outputs include a pair of HDMI and one DisplayPort. Besides the M.2 slot, you get four SATA 6 Gbps ports. Abit is pricing these boards at RMB ¥599 (USD $84).

If it feels like you've seen a ghost, it's because Abit withdrew from the DIY PC component space around 2012, after fulfilling its support obligations for the last of its products shipped in 2008. Since then, the brand has been held by Universal Scientific Industrial, a mainland Chinese company that took it over from the original Taiwan-based Abit Computer.

The headphones feature Game Mode, a feature that drops audio playback latency to as low as 90 ms over the Bluetooth link layer. The earphones also feature active noise cancellation, since each of the earbud has a mic, and can sample ambient noise. The Cirro Buds Pro TWS comes in a number of color options, including gray, black, and blue.
