ADATA Launches Industrial CFast 2.0 Memory Card

ADATA Technology, a leading manufacturer of high-performance DRAM modules and NAND Flash application products, today launches the industrial CFast card -ISC3E, which combines the form-factor of a CF card with the high-speed SATA interface for both high reliability and secure operation, widening the application of industrial equipment.

ADATA's ISC3E CFast is compatible with CFast 2.0 and SATA 3.1. The sequential read/write speed is up to 435/120 MB/s (MLC) and 165/170 MB/s (SLC). It is highly shock and vibration resistant, withstand extreme temperatures from -40 ºC to +85 ºC, and the MTBF is up to 2 million hours. With the features above, the ISC3E CFast is quite ideal for those industrial systems which require long-term operation. Additionally, the ISC3E operates at a low 3.3 volts, and supports DVESLP (Device Sleep) to save more power and prolongs the operation time.

Lexar Debuts Thunderbolt 2 Reader Hub

Lexar, a leading global brand of flash memory products, today enhanced its Professional Workflow line to include the new Lexar Professional Workflow HR2, a four-bay Thunderbolt 2 reader hub, and the new Lexar Professional Workflow CR2, a CFast 2.0 Thunderbolt 2 reader. Both solutions give professional photographers and videographers the ability to quickly transfer 4K video and other large media files at speeds up to 20 Gb per second, four times the performance of the current USB 3.0 HR1 hub.

The Professional Workflow HR2 provides dual Thunderbolt 2 ports for daisy-chaining and one USB 3.0 port, giving users total freedom to choose which interface they want to connect with. The Professional Workflow CR2 can be used in the reader hub alongside other readers or removed and used individually when in the field. Both the reader hub and reader are fully backwards compatible with the first generation of Thunderbolt and USB 2.0.

Apacer Launches Leading Industrial-grade CFast 2.0 Memory Cards

Since CompactFlash Association released the specification of CFast 2.0, Apacer has invested actively in R&D and taken the lead to roll out the first industrial-grade SATA 3.0 (6Gb/s) high-speed transmission interface CFast 2.0 memory card around the globe. Its sequential speed is up to 310/240 MB/sec, which doubles the speed of its predecessor. Besides featuring a 2-Channel bidirectional structure, the CFast 2.0 adopts Toggle DDR 2.0 NAND Flash, which brings its performance to a higher level. Jeff Lin, Embedded Application Business Unit Director of Apacer, suggested that, "Except that Apacer CFast 2.0 memory card is upgraded to double performance and speed, in order to meet the needs of harsh environment of industrial application and corporate cost-effectiveness, Apacer provides customers with choices between highly-durable SLC chip or highly cost-effective MLC chip.

Both chips are resistant to temperature change, vibration and shock in actual environment. Each kind of chip has a capacity of 4GB~32GB and 16GB~128GB respectively, with dimensions of 42.8mm x 36.4mm x 3.6mm and an adoption of (7+17) pin connector. Support for DEVSLP (Device Sleep) power mode enables them to switch into a low power state on standby mode so as to save power for companies."

Addonics Announces Internal and External mSATA/CFast Docks

Addonics Technologies today announced an internal and external reader/writer that allows you to use mSATA SSDs or CFast cards as removable media on any computer. Green House Unveils Three New CFast Memory Card Series

Japanese company Green House has today announced not one but three families of industrial-grade CFast memory cards, the SLC-based GH-CFS-NSA and GH-CFS-XSA, and the MLC-based GH-CFS-NMA. All three series make use of a JMicron controller and comply with the CFast Specification v1.0.

The models equipped with SLC NAND Flash have a MTBF of up to 4 million hours and deliver read/write speeds of up to 130/110 MB/s, while the MLC-powered cards have a 3 million-hour MTBF and top 130/120 MB/s when reading/writing (speeds vary with capacity).

All three CFast card lines are set to be released before the end of the month (so, this week). The GH-CFS-NSA and GH-CFS-XSA models come with a three-year warranty and go from 2 GB to 32 GB in terms of capacity, whereas the GH-CFS-NMA cards are backed by a one-year warranty and go from 8 GB to 64 GB.

Apacer Launches Ultra-High Speed Industrial CFast Cards

The CompactFlash Association Announces CFAST 2.0 Draft Specification

The CompactFlash Association (CFA) announces the CFast2.0 draft specification and celebrates seventeen years of performance leadership in flash memory card markets. The CFast2.0 draft specification was approved by the CFA Board of Directors for a 90 day final approval vote by all voting members. General availability of the CFast2.0 specification for non-members is expected in Q4 of 2012.

The CompactFlash Association was formed in 1995 as the initial digital film format and continues to serve professional imaging markets where high performance and high quality recording media are important. CFA has consistently created specifications to meet the current and future requirements for professional imaging and video markets. CFast2.0's performance capability of up to 600MB/sec enable CFA to serve new professional video markets such as high definition TV production and cinema video production environments.

SanDisk Announces Development of CFast Memory Cards

SanDisk Corporation, a global leader in flash memory storage solutions, today announced that it is developing flash memory cards based on the new CFast2.0 specification introduced today by the CompactFlash Association (CFA). The new specification enables next-generation photo and video applications by delivering up to four times faster performance than the CompactFlash memory cards currently used in DSLR cameras and other imaging devices.

"CFast2.0 memory cards will help drive the future of professional photography and video-recording applications," said Shuki Nir, senior vice president and general manager, Retail, SanDisk. "With the CFast2.0 specification's unparalleled performance, flash memory can now enter new markets such as high-definition TV and even cinema production."

The CompactFlash Association Invites Participation on CFast 2.0

The CompactFlash Association (CFA) is pleased to announce the development of the CFast 2.0 specification, sponsored by SanDisk. The CFast 2.0 specification will be developed in the CFast workgroup and will leverage the CFast 1.1 specification which was released September 2008. Additional participation in this specification development will be welcomed.

CFast1.1 (SATA-2) cards and connectors are already available in the marketplace. CFast 2.0 will leverage the same connector interface as CFast 1.1 and the SATA-3 interface for higher performance. Host manufacturers will be able to leverage their experience and investment in the ATA storage protocol and media manufacturers will be able to leverage high volume solid state disk (SSD) controller technology to serve the high performance requirements of this market. The new format will have VPG (Video Performance Guarantee) capability with profiles capable of supporting digital intermediate formats such as ProRes, DPX, and DNxHD.
