MSI Barricade Case Pictured

Despite being a popular motherboard, graphics card, and notebook vendor, MSI maintains an alter-ego: that of a PC case vendor. Unbeknownst to many, MSI secretly launches cases to select markets, some of which are mature markets, with little or no documentation on its international websites or PR channels. The company launched its Interceptor Raptor and Interceptor NightHawk cases in 2011. Its latest in the Interceptor series is named Barricade. The case was recently reviewed by LegitReviews.

Pictured below, the Barricade (model no: IN-535) is an ATX mid-tower case measuring 450(L) x 185(W) x 412(H) mm, weighing 7.8 kg, made of steel and ABS. It features a mostly-perforated front, with its utility panel (1x USB 3.0, 2x USB 2.0, HDA front-panel jacks), three 5.25-inch drive bays, and a large intake for two 120 mm blue LED-lit fans. Its interiors, including its motherboard tray, are mostly colored in the same shade of blue as the MSI logo. Apart from the three 5.25-inch bays, the Barricade features four 3.5-inch bays with support for 2.5-inch drives. The motherboard tray has cutouts for cable and CPU cooler management. Ventilation includes two 120 mm front intake fans, one 120 mm top exhaust fan, and provision for additional bottom and rear fans. The Interceptor Barricade from MSI is priced at US $79.99. COUGAR Introduces the Challenger Gaming Case

COUGAR, leading German PC case and power supply brand, officially announces their latest high-end PC gaming case, the COUGAR Challenger. The CHALLENGER mid-tower case is particularly targeting gamers demanding for huge upgradeability capacity, best airflow and optimized ventilation characteristics.

COUGAR's specific black and orange color combination paired with the large metal-mesh front bezel lend it an aggressive yet stylish appearance. But the ultimate design high-light is to be found right on the top of the case: to power up your computer you first have to lift a cover lid just like a pilot unlocks the missile button to fire. A safety feature to prevent accidental touch, which at the same time makes you feel in gaming mode right away. To play even most advanced games, the COUGAR CHALLENGER offers sufficient space for powerful graphics cards of up to 410 mm length.

Akasa Euler Fanless PC Case Pictured Some More

Akasa's Euler fanless PC case, which was first pictured at Computex 2012, is inching towards a September 2012 launch. Some of its first press-shots were leaked to the web. The pictures reveal its interiors, including the CPU block that conducts heat to the metallic body, where it is dissipated. This passive CPU cooling mechanism, according to a new report, can handle thermal loads of up to 35W, making it fit for low-power dual-core processors. Akasa Euler will be sold at an affordable price, according to the report.

Scythe Unveils ACB-TYPE3 Acrylic Open-Air Case

Scythe unveiled its newest open-air transparent PC case made mostly of 5 mm-thick clear-acrylic, the ACB-TYPE3. Unlike most boxy or picnic basket-shaped open-air cases, the ACB-TYPE3 uses a tower-type design, with the motherboard tray along the plane of the base, rather than perpendicular to it. The drive bays (3x 5.25", 3x 3.5", 2x 2.5") and PSU bay are arranged in a compartment below the motherboard tray.

The Scythe ACB-TYPE3 supports most ATX, micro-ATX, and mini-ITX motherboards. The design also allows for CPU coolers to be as tall as 190 mm. There are plenty of cutouts for wiring and tubing to pass through the various compartments of the case. The lack of side-panels is what makes it an open-air case, as do the lack of included fans. The best part -- it comes dismantled for you to assemble yourself, and its box isn't much bigger than the one a flat-panel monitor ships in.

Akasa Unveils Euler Fanless PC Case

Akasa unveiled the Euler fanless PC case for thin mini-ITX motherboards. Made mostly of aluminum, the Euler's body doubles up as a heatsink for the processor. Internally, the Euler has a relocatable CPU block, which conducts heat from the CPU to the chassis by heat pipes. The aluminum ridges on along the top and sides of the body dissipate heat. Apart from the thin mini-ITX motherboard, the case also has room for a 2.5-inch drive, and a slimline optical drive. Akasa will launch the Euler fanless mini-ITX case a little later this year.
