Xigmatek Takes Pillarless Cases to the Next Level at Computex 2024

Xigmatek made huge strides in the case design game this year at Computex. The pillarless left-corner has been a recurring theme with cases this year, but Xigmatek took things up a notch or two. Firstly, it incorporated the seamless pillarless design element, where two separate glass panels don't meet at the pillarless corner creating a glass seam, but rather a single glass panel curves around the edge. Secondly, some of its case designs have clear glass top-panels. The Pano series is a great place to start our coverage. The Pano and Pano Arctic, are black and white trims of the baseline Pano case, with its seamless-pillarless design. You still get a panoramic view of your build, but the top panel metal, with a 3x 120 mm fan/radiator mount.

The vertically partitioned case sees the right compartment end just before the side-facing fan-vents, which are recessed, so even with a thick radiator and fans, nothing gets in the way of a long graphics card. The left compartment has at least 10 cm of crawl space, because the PSU is mounted sideways. This means ample room for motherboards with backside connectivity. The Pano Ultra is 25% larger in volume than the Pano, and has the same layout, except the top panel is now glass, and the bottom panel is designed such that a radiator installation there wouldn't interference with an add-on card installed in the last slot of the motherboard—so there's a compartment down there, you can install a few 3.5-inch drives if you don't have a radiator.

Zalman Puts a 15.6-inch Monitor Inside a Case: A Tour Through Zalman Cases at Computex

Zalman Z10 DS Black is quite the eye-catcher at the 2024 Computex. The HYTE Y70 Touch built a whole new niche of cases that utilized its 5th side (front-left corner edge) to have a touchscreen that spanned the height of the case. The Zalman DS Black takes things up a notch. While it may not be a 5-sided case like the Y70, it uses the front-facing glasshouse to position a 15.6-inch display with 16:9 aspect ratio, and 1080p resolution. This display connects to your graphics card, and can be used as a second monitor, ideally dedicated to displaying widgets, gadgets, monitoring tools, or visualizations. Unlike the display in the Y70 Touch, Zalman's display isn't a touchscreen. If you don't need the monitor inside the case, Zalman provides a kit with which the panel can be turned into a regular desktop monitor, and get replaced in the case with a regular mesh intake.

The Z10 DS Black is an ATX mid-tower that measures 474 mm x 220 mm x 488 mm (LxWxH), with clearances for graphics cards up to 39.5 cm in length, and CPU coolers up to 17.3 cm in height. The horizontally partitioned case features 8 fan mounts, three 120 mm along the top, two side-facing, two along the bottom, and one at the rear. The Zalman P40 Snow White is a design evolution over the pillarless cases we've come across this year. While most such cases tend to have glass panels along the front and left side, without a pillar between them, the P40 Snow White even does away with the metal top panel, so you have glass on three sides, without pillars where they meet each other. It's just that the top-left corner has a trigonal metal joint for the three panels to align.

A single type-C cable is used for both power and host connectivity. Among the various connectivity accessories showcased was a 5 Gbps Ethernet NIC with CAT-6a, based on a Realtek controller.

AeroCool Brings APNX V1, its Finest Case, and New MAX P1 Power Supplies at Computex

AeroCool spawned its APNX brand last year, aiming to offer dedicated products for gamers and high-end users so there's no wonder that at Computex it will bring something new. APNX V1 is as AeroCool likes to call it, "the finest case", and it should be since it was completely engineered from the ground. With generous sizes, it can accommodate a myriad of platforms and thanks to large transparent panels (option for a wood panel on the side available) is also tailored for the finest custom-builds. Supports 2x 16 cm fans in angular intake front panel, and mesh ventilation panels, with quick-release cooling brackets at the front, top, and bottom. It has enough room for cooling options with up to 360 mm radiators and 10 fan slots in total.

Next to APNX V1, we spotted a few other new and updated cases, in various formats, with large meshed front panels, some of them featuring neat wooden panels and inserts. Another new release from AeroCool is the MAX P1 1300 W / 1000 W 80 Plus Platinum certified fully modular power supply series, made by Tier 1 PSU manufacturer CWT, and coming with a 15-year warranty, we see no reason to complain. These PSUs are compliant with ATX 3.1 standard and use Japanese capacitors and a 135 mm silent FDB fan.

Sharkoon Cases at Computex 2024: Rebel C70 RGB Wood Case, AK5 RGB, and Elite Shark CA500

Sharkoon brought an impressive set of PC cases to the 2024 Computex. We begin our tour with the most eye-catching of them all, the Rebel C70 RGB. This case has some real wood embellishments along its front-panel, which gives it a very Scandinavian look. The four included RGB fans put out a warm tone out of the box to add to this look. There are two variants, one with a tempered glass side-panel, the other solid-metal. There are a total of 11 fan mounts, and you can install up to three large radiators. A detachable mounting frame helps with radiator installation. Some other neat touches include a graphics card reinforcement brace.

The Elite Shark CA500 is a beautiful ATX mid-tower with a pillarless front-left corner, with the front- and left side glass panels being a single continuous panel that curves around the edge, rather than two panels meeting at the edge, causing a seam to form. Although a proper mid-tower with glass panels extending to the entire height of the case, and over 16 cm clearance for CPU coolers, this is a "slender" case, with no vertical expansion slots. There's also the Elite Shark CM100, a compacted Micro-ATX version of the CA500, with the same essential design, including the seamless pillarless edge. Both these cases support backside connector motherboards such as the ASUS BTF. The AK5 RGB is a bolt mid-tower case with glass panels making up the front- and left panels, but this isn't pillarless. The front fans breathe through intakes along the trapezoid structure. The case comes in black and white colors, with a contemporary layout.

ENERMAX Shows New Cases at Computex 2024

ENERMAX unveiled a couple of new PC cases at the Computex 2024 show, including the Air240 mid-tower case, the Pano270 and the Pano D58. The new cases feature enhanced cooling performance, modular internal structure for easier installation and cable management, as well as support for motherboards with back connectors.

The new ENERMAX Air240 is a mid-tower case supporting up to ATX motherboards, and featuring standard three-side mesh panel design, which should enhance overall cooling performance, according to ENERMAX. The Air240 is pretty much a standard PC case, but it does have a unique feature which allows the PSU compartment baffle to be redirected in order to provide more airflow to the graphics card. The new ENERMAX Pano270 and Pano D58 PC cases certainly attracted a lot of attention as these are following the current design trend with a 270-degree curved glass panel, which provides a panoramic view of key hardware. The Pano270 supports motherboards with backside connectors, and while it is a smaller case that supports up to a Micro-ATX motherboards, it still supports up to 360 mm AIO coolers and up to nine fans. It also has 37 mm of cable management space, and can support up to 170 mm tall CPU air coolers. The Pano D58 is a slightly different and bigger counterpart and while it has the same panoramic glass, it isn't a curved one. Of course, since it is bigger, it supports ATX motherboards, up to 360 mm AIO coolers on the side and top, and up to nine fans. It supports up to 250 mm long PSUs, up to 420 mm long GPUs, and up to 180 mm tall CPU coolers. All three CPU cases should be available soon.

Silverstone Gaming PC Cases at Computex 2024: SETA and FARA Series

While Silverstone's Computex 2024 booth is dominated with a new line of cases for AI workstations and servers, they also had several new white-themed gaming PC cases. These include the FARA 515XR, FARA 514X, SETA H2, and SETA H2M. The FARA 515XR is a mid-tower case for conventional-sized ATX setups, without the side-facing fan vents. Your radiator mounting options include a 360 mm (or smaller) radiator along the front panel, and a 280 mm (or smaller) along the top panel. You get four 120 mm RGB LED illuminated fans with the case. Clearances include graphics cards up to 36 cm in length, and CPU coolers up to 16.4 cm in height. The FARA 515X is a variation to this case, with 20 mm additional width, and the flat front panel making way for a trapezoid one, which has fine perforations.

Next up, is the SETA H2M, a Micro-ATX variant of the SETA H2, which retains wide proportions of the original, so you could give it CPU coolers as tall as 180 mm, and a 120 mm rear fan. With the right floor planning, you can get a 360 mm radiator mounted along its front mesh intake that resembles the trapezoid intake of the FARA 515X; besides an additional 280 mm radiator along its top exhaust. The SETA H2 is its larger sibling with not just similar width and clearances, but also room for up to six 3.5-inch drive caddies that can be individually detached. So this case should favor those with lots of local storage.
