Sheetak Announces Product Line Expansion with CENTUM C3 Multi-Stage Cooler Based on Novel Patented Thermoelectric Device Structures

Sheetak is expanding their flagship CENTUM product line, based on newly patented thermoelectric device structures, that offer the highest temperature difference with significant increases to cooling power and COP. These new trailblazing CENTUM C3 chips are now available for sample orders. High-volume manufacturing will start in Q2 2023 at Sheetak's Austin facility.

CENTUM C3 chips have been characterized, using standard thermoelectric testing methods, and demonstrate significant increases in maximum temperature differentials, cooling power, and efficiency (COP). The new chips attain temperature differentials more than 115°C for 2-stage coolers with hot-side at 50°C, and more than 160°C for 4-stage devices. The performance and cost metrics are unchallenged by other commercially available products.

Wizmax Micronics PC Cooling at CES: MA Frigate and MA Falcon CPU Coolers, Warp Shield Heatsinks

Wizmax by Micronics introduced a handful new CPU coolers and purpose-build heatsinks at the 2023 International CES. The CPU cooler lineup is led by the MA Frigate series. The MA4 Frigate, a thick single aluminium fin-stack tower-type cooler. Five 6 mm-thick copper heatpipes make direct contact with the CPU at the base, conveying heat through a thick aluminium fin-stack, which is ventilated by a custom-design 130 mm fan. With this fan in place, the cooler measures 132 mm x 95 mm x 156.4 mm (WxDxH), weighing 990 g. The fan turns at speeds of up to 1,500 RPM, pushing up to 71.7 CFM of airflow at 1.9 mm H₂O static-pressure. The MA4 Frigate is rated for handling thermal loads of up to 210 W.

The Wizmax MA6 Frigate is the larger sibling, with a type-D dual fin-stack design. Six 6 mm-thick nickel-plated copper heatpipes make indirect contact with the CPU through a copper base, conveying heat to two fin-stacks, which are ventilated by a pair of 140 mm fans in push-pull arrangement. One-third of the fins in the two fin-stacks are made of copper, and the rest aluminium. Each of the two 140 mm fans turns at speeds of up to 1,500 RPM, pushing up to 83 CFM of airflow at 2.2 mm H₂O. With the fans in place, the cooler measures 146 mm x 165 mm x 165 mm (WxDxH), weighing 1.6 kg. The MA6 Frigate is rated for 250 W thermal loads. Both coolers support the latest CPU socket types, including AM5 and LGA1700.

DeepCool Gives Air CPU Coolers the Smarts with the Digital Series

With the latest crop of AIO liquid coolers getting some smarts such as displays on the pump-block that put out real-time monitoring information, DeepCool figured why not extend this to air coolers? The new Digital series air CPU coolers by DeepCool come with LCD displays that put out real-time monitoring information such as CPU temperature (as measured at the base-plate), and fan speed.

These are essentially upgrades to the company's aluminium fin tower-type CPU coolers with top-plates that have the display and some electronics, instead of what should normally be a die-cast aluminium plate with some optional lighting. Shown at CES were at least four models with a single fin-stack (type-U) design of various sizes, and one dual fin-stack (type-D) design. All of these have a glossy piano-black acrylic top-plate that's framed by an ARGB diffuser. The LCD segment display is somewhere toward the center. The electronics work independently, but you'll need a 4-pin PWM connection for the fan(s), which also power the electronics; and 3-pin ARGB for the lighting.

AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX May Feature Faulty Coolers, Causing Overheating

AMD's latest GPUs have been reported to be experiencing overheating issues, with many users claiming that the vapor chamber cooler works better in a vertical rather than a horizontal position. Regardless of orientation, vapor chamber coolers should equal roughly the same heat dissipation performance and move the heat away from the source; however, testing showed that some reference AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX GPUs feature defect coolers. According to the testing conducted by Roman "der8auer" Hartung, AMD's Radeon RX 7900 XTX RDNA3 GPUs are experiencing problems with overheating caused by a faulty vapor chamber design.

What der8auer found is that these coolers could have a defect in the manufacturing process, where the liquid inside the vapor chamber faces problems in circulation after condensation. It could relate to manufacturing issues of the cooler itself, with an inadequate amount of fluid or insufficient pressure inside the chamber. For more in-depth testing and performance benchmarks, see the video below. It is important to note that we didn't see other reports that replicate this behavior, so always take these reports with a dash of salt.

AMD Ryzen 7000 non-X Processor SKUs Confirmed with 65W TDP, Boxed Coolers

Ahead of their market debut early January, we got confirmation of the specifications of the three upcoming AMD Ryzen 7000 series non-X processor SKUs. There will indeed only be three new SKUs, the 6-core/12-thread Ryzen 5 7600, the 8-core/16-thread Ryzen 7 7700, and the 12-core/24-thread Ryzen 9 7900; and no 16-core part. All three SKUs have their TDP rated at 65 W, which means that their PIB (processor in box) retail packages will include a stock cooling solution. The 7600 comes with a Wraith Stealth cooler that's capable of handling thermal loads of 65 W TDP processors at stock speeds; while the 7700 and 7900 will include a feature-packed Wraith Prism RGB cooler that's designed for 140 W TDP processors. Since Socket AM5 has cooler compatibility with AM4, AMD could simply be reusing the same coolers it packed with past-generation Ryzen processors.

The Ryzen 5 7600 comes with an MSRP of USD $229, clock speeds of up to 5.10 GHz boost, and targets the likes of the Intel Core i5-13600 or i5-12600. The $329 MSRP Ryzen 7 7700 ticks at speeds of up to 5.30 GHz boost, and is designed to compete with the Core i7-13700 or i7-12700. The Ryzen 9 7900 has an interesting price tag of $429 (MSRP), ticks at speeds of up to 5.40 GHz boost, and purportedly competes against the Core i9-13900 (non-K) and i9-12900. The three chips should be drop-in compatible with Socket AM5 motherboards being sold right now, likely with no need for a BIOS update. Although launch of these three SKUs in January is certain, the company might use the 2023 International CES keynote address by its CEO Dr Lisa Su to either tease or announce the Ryzen 7000X3D processors featuring 3D Vertical Cache memory, which is known to boost gaming performance.

Fractal Design Lumen AIO-series Manufacturing Issue Affects CPU-Temperatures: Replacements Offered

We have discovered an issue with our all-in-one watercooler Lumen. Following user reports of an increase in CPU temperatures, an investigation was started to determine the potential cause. Our findings conclude that the soldering material used in the aluminium radiator, as well as impurities introduced during manufacturing, may cause a reaction with the chemical composition of the cooling fluid. Over time this may lead to sediment build-up in the circulating liquid getting caught in the fins of the CPU block, causing an increase in temperatures as a result of the blockage.

Although Lumen units that are not currently causing temperature issues are safe for continued use, the experience of our users is our main priority. We have therefore decided to halt all Lumen sales globally, until we are satisfied that the quality standards we and our users expect are fully met. In order to address the issue, our teams will be working on a new version with an updated radiator and a new liquid formula, produced following revised processes and guidelines for assembly. With our currently estimated timeline, we are hoping to have new units available as replacements for Lumen owners, as well as substitutes for stock at distributors and resellers; in about six weeks. A web form for users to request a replacement can be found on our dedicated website, which also provides ongoing updates, timeline and further information. Possible Custom NVIDIA RTX 4090 Cooler Features 13 Heatpipes

With a typical graphics power (TGP) of 450 W, and power limit of 600 W, the upcoming NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 will be one hot GPU if not cooled really well. We don't expect a single 2-slot air-cooled RTX 4090, and even 3-slot could be close-to-reference, leaving 4-slot to be the standard (at least every custom RTX 4090 leak we've come across points to a 4-slot design). Twitter user "wxnod," behind spectacular leaks of ZOTAC and GIGABYTE graphics card boxes, is back with pictures of what is possibly the cooling solution of a custom-design RTX 4090 (or RTX 4080). The cooler features multiple aluminium fin-stacks skewered by as many as thirteen 6 mm-thick copper heat pipes. These pipes don't make contact with the GPU, but rather a copper vapor-chamber that serves as a base-plate for the GPU, and possibly memory chips surrounding it.

Because ARCTIC is committed to serving this community with honesty and transparency, it is our duty to inform you of a potential issue. During ARCTIC's routine quality checks, we found a potential issue with certain Liquid Freezer II units. Which products are potentially affected? Affected products first went on sale in May 2021.

In certain units, the gaskets were not sufficiently vulcanized causing a chemical reaction to occur between the copper cold plate and the gasket. This reaction may lead to sulfur residue and copper plate deposits. If this has happened, it can lead to a reduction in cooling performance and potential loss of cooling liquid. The chemical reaction and degeneration of the gasket is a slow process and can occur within the 6-year warranty period. Thus, there is no reason to panic. We recommend that all affected coolers are serviced as soon as possible.

ASUS AIO Coolers Will Be Fully Compatible With AMD AM5 Motherboards

ASUS today announced that a selection of its all-in-one (AIO) liquid coolers will be fully compatible with the AM5 (LGA 1718) socket designed for next-gen AMD CPUs. ROG Ryujin, Ryuo and Strix LC coolers will fit via an AM5 mounting kit, while TUF Gaming LC coolers will fit using the existing kits. A list of compatible ASUS coolers is provided in the table below.

Thermalright Intros AXP90-X53 Full Black CPU Cooler

Thermalright today introduced the AXP90-X53 Full Black, a premium top-flow air-based CPU cooler. The cooler is designed for a Z-height of 53 mm when fully assembled (including fan), making it fit for certain SFF/low-profile use-cases. Its design involves a mirror-finish nickel-plated C1100 copper base, from which four 6 mm-thick heat-pipes of the same material pass through, conveying heat through a stack of 54 dark-tinted aluminium fins.

The fin-stack is ventilated by a 15 mm-thick 92 mm fan. This fan takes in 4-pin PWM input, and features a double ball-bearing setup. It turns at speeds of up to 2,700 RPM, pushing up to 42.58 CFM of airflow, at up to 22.4 dBA of noise output. Among the CPU socket types supported by the Thermalright AXP90-X53 Full Black are LGA1700, LGA1200, and AM4. With its fan in place, the cooler measures 94.5 mm x 95 mm x 53 mm (WxDxH), weighing 540 g. The company didn't reveal pricing.

Noctua Delays NH-D15 CPU Cooler Successor Until Q1 2023

Noctua has recently published an updated roadmap showing that their next-generation NH-D15 CPU Cooler has been delayed once again until Q1 2023. The NH-D15 was released back in 2014 with initial plans for its successor to launch sometime in 2021 however the new cooler has faced numerous delays. Noctua has showcased numerous technological improvements in its fan and heatsink designs in recent years which have the potential to make the successor a best-in-class product.

The updated roadmap also includes information for other upcoming products including fan grills, voltage converters, fan hubs, CPU coolers, and numerous fans. Noctua plans to release new fan grills this quarter followed by a 24 V to 12 V voltage converter, 8-way fan hub, and next-generation Intel Xeon CPU cooler in Q3 2022. In Q4 we can expect next-generation 140 mm fans along with slim 60 mm fans, and 24 V 40 mm fans ideal for 3D printing applications. The products expected to launch in Q1 2023 alongside the next-generation NH-D15 cooler include the Noctua desk fan and white versions of existing fans to complement the existing color options.

The heatsink itself is measured at 35 mm height. Adding a powerful 12 mm PWM fan, this cooler is capable of handling processors with a maximum TDP of 95 W. In terms of mounting kit, two separate backplates are provided in the box for Intel and AMD respectively. The sockets list includes Intel LGA1700/1200/1151/1150/1155/1156 and AMD AM4.

The bundled thermal grease is named FROST X25, which has a thermal conductivity of 10.5 W/m-K.

Noctua Presents NH-D12L Low-height 120mm Dual Tower CPU Cooler

Noctua today presented the all-new NH-D12L low-height dual tower CPU cooler and the corresponding NF-A12x25r round-frame 120 mm fan. At a height of only 145 mm (13 mm lower than Noctua's regular 120 mm models), it fits many 4U enclosures as well as narrower tower cases that have been previously limited to solutions with 92 mm fans. At the same time, its five heatpipe dual-tower design and state-of-the-art NF-A12x25r 120 mm fan allow it to achieve a level of efficiency that surpasses many full-height 120 mm models.

"So far, all our 120 mm class coolers were 158 mm high, but as of recent, more and more PC cases only support up to 150 or even 145 mm - this is where the NH-D12L steps in", explains Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO). "Simply lowering one of our existing models wasn't an option because a standard square 120 mm fan would cause lots of issues with motherboard heatsinks or shrouds. That's why we came up with this novel dual tower design and a round-frame version of the NF-A12x25 fan that can be installed at a very low position between the two towers - a winning combination that provides impressive results for this height class."
