NVIDIA released a hotfix GeForce 359.12 driver for Notebooks, in an attempt to mitigate general game crashes noticed by users of notebooks running the GeForce GTX 860M mobile GPU, with recent R359 series drivers. Besides fixing this issue, the driver's feature-set is consistent with the recent R359.06 WHQL release. As a hotfix driver, it lacks WHQL certification. Acer announced today it will introduce new Aspire V 17 Nitro notebooks that will feature the advanced Intel RealSense 3D camera. Because the camera can understand and respond to natural movement in three dimensions, Aspire V Nitro owners will be able to interact with games, open web pages or navigate applications without even touching the notebook's keyboard or mouse. It also enables 3D scanning, 3D model generating and then printing on a 3D printer or sharing on social media. This November Dell is set to let loose a new Alienware-branded gaming machine, a thin and light notebook dubbed Alienware 13. As its name suggests, the upcoming laptop packs a 13-inch display which, depending on configuration, can have a native resolution of (only) 1366 x 768, 1920 x 1080, or 2560 x 1440 pixels.

The Alienware 13 will also feature an ultra-low voltage Intel processor, a GeForce GTX 860M graphics card, up to 16 GB of RAM, up to two SSDs (HDD options will also be available), Qualcomm Killer 802.11ac WiFi, a TACTX keyboard, and Klipsch audio. NVIDIA slipped out the first mobile GPU based on its GM107 silicon, the GeForce GTX 860M, which was spotted on the forumscape. The GTX 860M is configured identically to the desktop GTX 750 Ti, featuring the chip's full complement of 640 CUDA cores, 40 TMUs, 16 ROPs, and a 128-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface, holding 2 GB of memory. The core is clocked at 540 MHz, and the memory at 5.00 GHz (GDDR5 effective).

The mobile MXM card was put through a battery of synthetic tests, in which it was found to be twice as fast as its predecessor, the GTX 660M. In 3DMark 11 (performance preset), it scored P5339, compared to the P2563 points scored by the GTX 660M. In 3DMark 11 (extreme preset), the story is similar, with the GTX 860M scoring X1662, compared to the X774 scored by the GTX 660M.
