Akko can be relied upon to bring splashes of color and zany printed graphics to trade events. A TechPowerUp staffer was refreshed—after poring over countless boxy products all day—by an assortment of the peripheral specialist's quirky keyboards, keycaps and oddball mice. Akko's YU01 "Jade" keyboard—comprised of a resin-crafted case and transparent PC plastic keycaps—drew plenty of interest from CES attendees. The opaque properties of this resin material produced some interesting results when combined with the YU01's internal RGB lighting—almost hypnotic when in motion. The chosen keycap font may offend purists, but Akko's design team has clearly gone for that unique factor.

The Akko Colorful Cats keycap set is destined to boost cuteness on any compatible keyboard—a 100% layout was showcased in Las Vegas. The (fittingly named) MAO profile sports a cat-ear shaped design. Akko's Bun Wonderland keycap set was visible on two keyboards—full-size/100% and 75% layouts. Mechanical keyboard components major Gateron showed off its latest creations at the 2025 International CES. We began our tour with the company's Nature Series line of low-profile keycaps. These high-quality PBT keycaps were shown in two color schemes—Oasis (palm green and white 2-tone); and Dune (sandy brown and white). The keycaps were accompanied by Gateron's upcoming GT60 PCB, which is so new that all we could find is it has some features which will be relevant for gaming. It was clearly going for gaming nostalgia and as close to Nintendo IP as it could get without getting into trouble. As such, I was delighted to know there was a new 8-it series in the works—especially as this happens to be the most complicated and time consuming design the company has ever put out in the new group buy called 8-Bit Series: Pipeline Battle.

The theme is put to good use here with not only characters and environments but also game effects including explosions and bullets/missiles galore. I can probably identify three different games these keycaps remind me of immediately and the level of detail is such that you may want to consider going for a larger keycap to better appreciate everything. Jelly Key says every single element is individually cast with just the base taking ~20 hours to complete and the various tiny characters taking another 8-10 hours to assemble layer by layer before the resin pour and a final finishing process taking another 16-18 hours. Jelly Key says the goal here was to make something easy to type on which I don't necessarily agree with, at least compared to the previous keycaps which have a smoother top surface.
