MSI today introduced the MAG 274UPF E2, a 27-inch monitor offering 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160 pixels) resolution, and a high refresh-rate thanks to its Rapid IPS panel. From the looks of it, this is a "lite" variant of the MPG 274URF that the company unveiled earlier this week, since the two appear to feature the same body design, and mostly the same specs sheet, with the exception of Quantum Dot and USB-C PD single cable input for the MPG display.

The supposedly more affordable MAG 274UPF E2 still gives you 4K Ultra HD with an impressive 160 Hz refresh-rate, and 0.5 ms (GTG) response time, VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification, VESA Adaptive Sync support, 178° viewing angles, and wide color gamut with its 10 bpc (1.07 billion colors) palette. Display inputs are similar to the MPG 274URF, with a DisplayPort 1.4a (needed for 4K @ 160 Hz), two HDMI 2.1, and USB-C. Unlike with the MPG 274URF, the USB-C input on the MAC 274UPF doesn't support 65 W PD, and hence single-cable operation isn't possible, you'll need to plug in the display to its own AC source. The company didn't reveal pricing.

MSI today unveiled the MAG 27CQ6F, a 27-inch curved gaming monitor. This 16:9 display offers a QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution, with has a curvature of 1500R. It uses a Rapid VA panel with 180 Hz refresh rate, and 0.5 ms (GTG) response time; along with support for VESA Adaptive Sync. Other vital specs of the panel include a 300 nits maximum brightness, 5000:1 static contrast ratio, 10 bpc (1.07 billion colors), 80% coverage of Adobe RGB and DCI-P3, and 105% coverage of sRGB. Display inputs include DisplayPort 1.4 and two HDMI 2.0b. There's a 3.5 mm headphones jack that puts out audio from the DP/HDMI connection. Measuring 61 cm x 25 cm x 45.6 cm, the monitor weighs about 4 kg. The company didn't reveal pricing.

MSI is preparing to launch its new generation of MPG and MAG series QD-OLED gaming monitors—early 2024 promotional activity included a couple of pre-launch initiatives. The company's marketing division is attempting to get into good graces with the gaming community—we have already witnessed the introduction of a 3-year warranty for OLED panel product, and permanent price cuts planned for launch day. Many members thanked MSI for the comprehensive product rundowns and answering of questions/queries, but one participant—Mars0813—took issue with the MAG 321UPX model's apparent inability to receive software/firmware updates. MSI_Darutohne responded and confirmed: "You are correct. The MAG 321UPX QD-OLED will NOT support software updates." Subsequent repliers stated that they would cancel their pre-orders, or request refunds. Jamartty45 stated: "Appreciate you for clarifying, but I purchased this yesterday and it will be returned as soon as it gets to my door. A $900 monitor that doesn't support software updates is absurd." The more expensive MPG tier appears to be the best route for gamers who enjoy a little bit of future-proofing and bug fixing.

MSI expanded its MAG GL line of modular power supplies with two new high wattage models—the MAG A1000GL PCIE5, and the MAG A1200GL PCIE5. The company had debuted the series in June 2023, with 850 W, 750 W, and 650 W models meeting the ATX 3.0 and PCIe 5.0 spec. The company also took the opportunity to update its high-wattage connector standard from 12VHPWR on the original three models, to the new 12V-2x6 connector on the two new models. Both the 1000 W and 1200 W models come with a 600 W-capable 12V-2x6. The standards have also been updated, with MSI saying that the 1000 W and 1200 W models meeting ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 standards, besides the newer connector.

On both the 1000 W and 1200 W models, you now get a 24-pin ATX, two 4+4 pin EPS, one 600 W-capable 12V-2x6, four 6+2 pin PCIe power, twelve SATA power, four 4-pin Molex, and a Berg. These PSUs boast of 80 Plus Gold switching efficiency, and feature a single +12 V rail design, active PFC, LLC full-bridge topology, DC-to-DC switching, most common electrical protections, and a 135 mm fluid dynamic bearing fan to keep cool. The company didn't reveal pricing.
